Pirates designated OF Brandon Jones for assignment.

Jones was the unfortunate casualty of the Pirates pitcher shuffling. He is hitting .237 with one home run and three runs batted in so far for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Pirates optioned OF Brandon Jones and INF Argenis Diaz to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Jones was claimed off waivers from the Braves in January. The 26-year-old was 4-for-13 in five games with the Braves last season and hit .281/.360/.419 with seven home runs and 57 RBI at Triple-A Gwinnett. He's stock has fallen dramatically over the past two season, but he's not bad as far as organizational depth is concerned.

The Pirates are hoping to trade recently-claimed outfielder Brandon Jones, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Bucs grabbed Jones earlier this week after he was designated for assignment by Atlanta. The 26-year-old was 4-for-13 in five games with the Braves last season and hit .281/.360/.419 with seven home runs and 57 RBI at Triple-A Gwinnett. He should draw a decent amount of interest.

Pirates claimed OF Brandon Jones off waivers from the Braves.

Jones was designated for assignment by the Braves last week in order to make room for Eric Hinske. The 26-year-old outfielder was 4-for-13 in five games with Atlanta last season, but spent the majority of the year with Triple-A Gwinnett, batting .281/.360/.419 with seven home runs and 57 RBI.

What was once one of the top prospects in the organization was cleared in order to make room for Eric Hinske on the team's 40-man roster. Jones, 26, was 4-for-13 in five games with the Braves last season, but spent the majority of the year with Triple-A Gwinnett, batting .281/.360/.419 with seven home runs and 57 RBI.

Braves optioned outfielder Brandon Jones to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jones was 4-for-13 with four walks while helping to fill in for Garret Anderson. It would have been worth giving him a longer look.

Braves recalled OF Brandon Jones from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jones takes Garret Anderson's spot on the roster, with Anderson placed on the 15-day disabled list. Anderson is struggling to stay healthy, giving Jones a chance to make his case for more playing time.

Brandon Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk Thursday as the Braves beat the Nationals 6-2.

With Garret Anderson absent, Jones is trying to make a case for a spot on the team. He's hitting .360 with one homer through 25 at-bats. Unfortuantely, the Braves don't see him as a possibility in center field and they're not likely to keep him as a backup to Anderson when both are left-handed hitters. He'll likely head back to Triple-A.

Brandon Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Braves came from behind to beat the Astros 8-7 on Thursday.

Jones didn't embarrass himself while in the majors last season, finishing at .267/.312/.397 in 116 at-bats, but the Braves weren't willing to enter another year with he and Matt Diaz competing for the left-field job. With Garret Anderson in town, Jones is almost certain to return to Triple-A.

Braves recalled OF Brandon Jones from Triple-A Richmond.

Jones will provide depth with Casey Kotchman on the bereavement list. He has hit .278/.316/.463 with the Braves this season.

Braves optioned outfielder Brandon Jones to Triple-A Richmond.

The Braves are going to use Gregor Blanco in left field, and they didn't want to keep Jones as a backup. Jones hit .278/.316/.463 in 54 at-bats for the Braves.
Tue, Jul 1, 2008 08:14:00 PM

Brandon Jones went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Sunday and has gone 10 straight starts without driving in a run.

Jones still has a .278 average since being called up, but the Braves may opt to return him to Triple-A with Mark Kotsay set to return Tuesday. Gregor Blanco would move over to play left field.

Brandon Jones went 3-for-5 with his first career big league homer on Saturday.

Jones' solo blast came off Angels starter Ervin Santana. He also singled and walked in the contest. Jones could continue to get starts in left field with Matt Diaz out, but he was struggling in Triple-A before his callup and he doesn't seem very likely to have much fantasy value right away.
