Frandsen has dealt with some soreness in his left wrist for nearly a week. Consider him day-to-day.

Kevin Frandsen said that he's dealing with some soreness in his left wrist, but that he should be OK.

Frandsen was forced to exit Wednesday's game after he was hit by a Justin Verlander fastball, but it sounds like the Phillies pulled him for precautionary reasons. He has the stitching from the ball imprinted on his wrist, so at least he has a nice souvenir. The 30-year-old is expected to open the season on the Phillies' bench.

Kevin Frandsen tripled, doubled, walked and scored four times as a Phillies split-squad trounced the Blue Jays 13-5 on Sunday.

The Phillies opted to keep Frandsen on the 40-man roster all winter, suggesting that he's assured of a bench spot behind Chase Utley and Michael Young. He probably won't have any fantasy value unless one of those two gets hurt.

Phillies avoided arbitration with INF Kevin Frandsen by agreeing to a one-year, $850,000 contract.

Frandsen hit .338/.383/.451 with two homers over 55 games for the Phillies this season. As it stands right now, he could platoon with Freddy Galvis at third base next season, but the Phils are liking to acquire an upgrade there.

Kevin Frandsen - 1B - Phillies

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that Kevin Frandsen is close to avoiding arbitration with the Phillies by agreeing to a new deal.

Frandsen received lots of playing time at third base down the stretch for the Phils, batting .338/.383/.451 with two homers over 55 games. Philly is expected to sign a third baseman this winter, allowing Frandsen to operate as a utility infielder.

Frandsen has made two pinch-hit appearances since he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left fibula earlier this month. He has vowed to play through the pain and will continue to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

Kevin Frandsen has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left fibula.

He'll sit out his fourth straight game Sunday, and it's not clear when he'll return to the lineup. "He's had three days off and we'll probably give him the rest of this series off unless we need him," Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said. "It's about his [pain] tolerance right now." With Placido Polanco (back) done for the year, the Phils are down to Michael Martinez at third base.

Kevin Frandsen - 1B - Phillies

Kevin Frandsen finished 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI against the Mets on Thursday.

Frandsen has his average back up to .355. With five extra-base hits, eight RBI, four walks and no steals in 107 at-bats, he isn't doing much of anything besides hitting singles. Still, he's the Phillies' best option at third base right now.

Kevin Frandsen had a big night in Thursday's loss to the Brewers, going 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI.

Frandsen has been receiving regular playing time at third base in the absence of Placido Polanco, and has responded by hitting .333 with a homer and five RBI over 63 at-bats. His three-run double off Marco Estrada in the fifth inning put the Phillies up 4-3. Frandsen holds very little mixed-league fantasy value, but he could be worth a look as a middle infielder in NL-only formats.
