Marlins recalled RHP Carlos Martinez from Triple-A New Orleans.

Martinez posted a 4.09 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 11 innings for New Orleans. He'll work in middle relief and should be given a fair chance to stick around, even when Andrew Miller returns.

The Marlins will reportedly call up Carlos Martinez following Wednesday's game with the Braves.

Nothing has been made official yet, but it appears that he'll take the roster spot of Graham Taylor, who's slated to start Wednesday night's game. Martinez has a 4.09 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 11 innings for Triple-A New Orleans.

Martinez has spent a total of six days in the Marlins pen since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2006, but he's still hanging around the 40-man roster. He posted a 4.09 ERA in 11 innings this spring.

Carlos Martinez has resolved his visa issues and is finally allowed to report to Marlins camp.

Martinez has missed way too much time, and his chances of making the team are now pretty slim. If he gets in shape quickly, and is totally healthy, its possible the Marlins bring him up sometime early in the season to help in the bullpen.

Martinez didn't look good in his two games since returning to the Marlins, but he'll be worthy of a longer look at some point.

He moves into the bullpen in place of Renyel Pinto, who went on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. With a good showing, Martinez could stick around for the stretch run.

Marlins activated RHP Carlos Martinez from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Double-A Carolina.

Martinez should have been allowed to collect a major league salary for at least a week or two longer as he continued his rehab from Tommy John surgery, but the Marlins will save their pennies whenever they get the chance. Expect Martinez to be a factor in the bullpen in the second half of the year.

Martinez, coming back from Tommy John surgery, might rejoin the Marlins in two or three weeks, depending on how he performs. The club could decide to option him to Triple-A if it doesn't believe he'll be able to help right away.

Carlos Martinez had ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow on Thursday.

Martinez, who will need about a year to recover from the procedure, is still young and should be able to make a comeback. He has tons of talent and is someone who could help the Marlins' bullpen late next season.

Martinez will visit with orthopedic surgeon James Andrews next week. Surgery on the injured elbow could be an option.
