Hank Conger homered for the Astros' lone run Thursday against the Indians.
Conger has been outhitting Jason Castro for a couple of months now, but Castro continues to get the bulk of the playing time; he's started six games to Conger's three this month. We wouldn't expect a whole lot to change in the second half. Conger figures to remain the better hitter, but the Astros prefer Castro's glove. Jul 9 - 10:03 PM

Hank Conger went 2-for-4 with a homer and a double in Thursday's loss to the Orioles.

Conger smacked a solo homer off of Wei-Yin Chen in the third inning. He also doubled in the bottom of the seventh inning to put runners on second and third with nobody out, but the Astros were unable to bring either Conger or Jonathan Villar home in what was their best opportunity to score in the late innings. Over 54 at-bats, the catcher is hitting .204/.317/.426 with three homers and six RBI.

Hank Conger homered for the Astros' lone run Saturday in a 1-1 tie versus the Marlins.

The homer came off Mat Latos. Conger also worked a walk. After opening the spring 2-for-21 while dealing with some wrist soreness, he's 5-for-9 with two homers in his last three games.
Mar 28 - 5:03 PM

Hank Conger went 0-for-3 on Thursday and is 2-for-21 since returning from left wrist soreness.

Whether it's the wrist or not, Conger is struggling mightily, with nine strikeouts in 22 plate appearances. The Astros paid quite a price to bring him in from the Angels over the winter, leading many to speculate that they'd trade Jason Castro. That didn't happen and they actually brought in another guy who can catch in Evan Gattis (though he probably won't), so Conger's role figures to be pretty limited.
Mar 19 - 4:27 PM

Hank Conger made his spring debut on Saturday and went 0-for-3 with a couple of strikeouts.

Conger had been sidelined with some wrist soreness.

Hank Conger (wrist) will start Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees.

Conger missed a couple days with a sore left wrist, but he's fine. He's slated to back up Jason Castro this season.
Mar 5 - 9:06 PM

Hank Conger has some minor soreness in his left wrist.

He'll be held out of Grapefruit League games for a couple of days, but the expectation is that Conger will see some action at catcher over the weekend. The 27-year-old projects to be an active backup this season to Astros starter Jason Castro.
Mar 5 - 9:55 AM

Astros and C Hank Conger avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.075 million contract.

He was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. Conger's role for 2015 remains up in the air, as both Jason Castro and Carlos Corporan have been involved in trade rumors.
Jan 16 - 2:41 PM

Astros acquired C Hank Conger from the Angels for C Carlos Perez and RHP Nick Tropeano.

Conger owns a .235/.301/.364 batting line with 11 home runs in 515 plate appearances over the past two seasons. Known for his pitch-framing abilities, he'll give the Astros a solid backup to Jason Castro. The 26-year-old will be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter.

Hank Conger finished 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBI in the Angels' 9-3 rout of the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Conger hit an RBI double in the fourth inning, a three-run homer in the sixth inning, and an RBI single in the ninth inning. He still isn't getting much playing time behind Chris Iannetta but has made the most of these limited opportunities, batting .314/.364/.569 with three homers and 13 RBI in 51 at-bats. The Angels (19-17) are two games over the .500 mark for the first time in two years.

Hank Conger went 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run as the Angels defeated the Indians on Wednesday.

Conger swatted his second home run of the season in the second inning off of Zach McAllister, a two-run blast. Conger, the Angels' back-up catcher behind Chris Iannetta, has been remarkably productive in his limited playing time, slashing .324/.361/.588 after Wednesday's performance.

Hank Conger went 2-for-5 with his first home run of the season in a win over the Mets on Sunday.

Conger had one of four home runs off Mets starter Bartolo Colon, a two-run shot in the fifth inning. He also doubled and scored two runs in the game. He's used sparingly as the backup to Chris Iannetta, but Conger's bat may eventually force the Angels to flip their roles.

Hank Conger slugged a go-ahead two-run homer in the Angels' 6-5 defeat of the Brewers on Saturday.

Some late-August excitement for this disappointing Anaheim team. Josh Hamilton hit a two-out pinch-hit double and then Conger was picked to hit for reliever Dane De La Rosa and came through with a heroic blast. Conger is slugging .440 with seven homers in 191 at-bats.

Hank Conger went 1-for-3 with a walk, double, RBI and run scored in Thursday's win over the Yankees.

It was Conger's first double, walk and RBI of August, and just his second run scored. Conger hasn't fulfilled his offensive potential to date, and he doesn't play enough to factor into mixed leaguer's plans. Conger, batting .239, has collected six homers and 15 RBI over 159 at-bats.
Thu, Aug 15, 2013 06:37:00 PM

Hank Conger homered to plate the Angels' only two runs Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Conger's bat and improved throwing have him in line for more playing time behind the plate in Anaheim. The Angels should also think about DHing him once in a while, considering that he has a better OPS against right-handers than either Mark Trumbo or Albert Pujols.
