Red Sox signed SS Jeff Bianchi to a minor league contract.
Bianchi's contract includes an invite to major league camp. The 28-year-old utility infielder can't hit -- hide your eyes; he's a .216/.251/.283 career batter -- but can essentially play all over the diamond defensively. That makes him a nice stash at Triple-A, and Bianchi has a real chance to break camp with the club if it unloads projected bench players such as Allen Craig, Brock Holt and Daniel Nava via trade. Jeff Bianchi has elected to become a free agent.

Bianchi was outrighted off the Brewers' 40-man roster on October 8. He had the option of accepting an assignment to Triple-A Colorado Springs, but the 28-year-old utility infielder will instead look to catch on with a new team. He's a .216/.251/.283 career hitter.

Brewers sent SS Jeff Bianchi outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Bianchi doesn't have much upside, batting .171/.203/.186 in 2014. He should still get a shot to make the team out of spring despite being removed from the 40-man roster.

Brewers activated INF Jeff Bianchi from the 60-day disabled list.

The 27-year-old utility infielder is extremely limited offensively, hitting just .171/.203/.186 with six RBI in 70 at-bats for the Brewers in 2014. He's not even worth rostering in NL-only formats.

Brewers transferred INF Jeff Bianchi to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a roster spot for Matt Pagnozzi, who will join the Brewers as an emergency catcher. Bianchi remains out indefinitely with a right elbow strain.

Brewers placed INF Jeff Bianchi on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain.

The injury comes with poor timing for Bianchi, who was in line for an uptick in playing time with starting shortstop Jean Segura mourning the death of his nine-month-old son. Elian Herrera will help out at short for Milwaukee.

Jeff Bianchi is not in Sunday's lineup due to a sore right elbow.

Elian Herrera is making his first big league start at shortstop in Bianchi's place. Bianchi should be fine after the All-Star break.

Brewers purchased the contract of INF Jeff Bianchi from Triple-A Nashville.

Bianchi has hit only .145 with a .318 OPS in 21 games for the Brewers this season, but he does give them some defensive versatility. He hit .276/.314/.418 during his time at Nashville.

Jeff Bianchi (hip) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Double-A Huntsville.

Bianchi missed most of the Cactus League schedule due to the injury. The 26-year-old is out of options, so the Brewers will have to add him to the major league roster or expose him to waivers at the end of his rehab assignment.

Jeff Bianchi will not play for Italy in the World Baseball Classic due to a left groin strain.

The issue cropped up on Saturday. Bianchi was set to be Italy's starting shortstop, so it's a disappointing blow, but he's going to focus on getting daily treatment in camp.

Jeff Bianchi blasted a three-run homer, the first of his MLB career, powering the Brewers to a 4-1 victory over the Cubs in Chicago on Tuesday.

Bianchi finished the night 1-for-3 with the critical blast off Travis Wood in the third inning. The 25-year-old infielder isn't considered a top prospect and shouldn't be owned in most fantasy leagues. He's hitting .227 with a homer and four RBI through his first 22 at-bats.

Brewers recalled INF Jeff Bianchi from Triple-A Nashville.

Bianchi will provide infield depth as a utility infielder, and isn't considered a highly-rated prospect. Mike McClendon was optioned in a corresponding move.
