Jeff Bianchi - 3B - Brewers

Jeff Bianchi (hip) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Double-A Huntsville.

Bianchi missed most of the Cactus League scheduled due to the injury. The 26-year-old is out of options, so the Brewers will have to add him to the major league roster or expose him to waivers at the end of his rehab assignment.

‪Brewers placed INF Jeff Bianchi on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with left hip bursitis.

The injury has limited Bianchi to just seven games this spring. He's out of options, so the Brewers will either have to add him to the major league roster or expose him to waivers once he's back to full health.

Jeff Bianchi will not play for Italy in the World Baseball Classic due to a left groin strain.

The issue cropped up on Saturday. Bianchi was set to be Italy's starting shortstop, so it's a disappointing blow, but he's going to focus on getting daily treatment in camp.

Jeff Bianchi - 3B - Brewers

Jeff Bianchi blasted a three-run homer, the first of his MLB career, powering the Brewers to a 4-1 victory over the Cubs in Chicago on Tuesday.

Bianchi finished the night 1-for-3 with the critical blast off Travis Wood in the third inning. The 25-year-old infielder isn't considered a top prospect and shouldn't be owned in most fantasy leagues. He's hitting .227 with a homer and four RBI through his first 22 at-bats.

Bianchi hadn't spent the required 10 days in the minor leagues following his August 15 demotion, so he'll be in idle mode over the next handful of games. The 25-year-old infielder is 0-for-13 this season in the majors.

Brewers purchased the contract of INF Jeff Bianchi from Triple-A Nashville.

He's taking the roster spot of Taylor Green, who was sent down Sunday. Bianchi, who will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game, has batted .319/.372/.378 with a homer and 12 steals between Double- and Triple-A this season. He'll back up at shortstop and second base.

Brewers sent SS Jeff Bianchi outright to Double-A Huntsville.

Bianchi batted .259/.320/.333 over 499 plate appearances at Double-A in the Royals organization in 2011 after missing all of 2010 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 25-year-old is, at best, a bench bat down the line.

Brewers claimed INF Jeff Bianchi off waivers from the Cubs.

It should clear a spot for left-hander Paul Maholm on the Cubs' 40-man roster. Bianchi, 25, was claimed off waivers from the Royals last month after he batted .259/.320/.333 over 499 plate appearances with Double-A Northwest Arkansas in 2011. The 2005 second-round pick missed the entire 2010 season following Tommy John surgery.

Cubs claimed SS Jeff Bianchi off waivers from the Royals.

Bianchi was designated for assignment late last month when the Royals signed Jonathan Broxton. The 25-year-old batted just .259/.320/.333 in 499 plate appearances this year at the Double-A level.

LF	1	Ryan Braun D.L. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that people who have spoken with MLB investigators feel it's likely that "at least some" suspensions will be issued in the Biogenesis case. MLB has begun interviewing players associated with the case, though they have yet to talk to Ryan Braun or Alex Rodriguez, seemingly because they want to gather enough evidence before confronting them. Interestingly, Heyman notes that MLB officials believe the league's Joint Drug Agreement may allow it to announce suspensions before any appeal process because the names involved have already been leaked. While Braun and Rodriguez have garnered most of the attention in the case, Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, Nelson Cruz, Jhonny Peralta, Everth Cabrera, Francisco Cervelli, Jesus Montero are among the other players who have been connected to the now-shuttered clinic.
