Red Sox re-signed RHP Charlie Haeger to a minor league contract.
Haeger missed all of 2012 due to an elbow injury. The knuckleballer posted a 5.44 ERA over 17 Triple-A starts between the Red Sox and Mariners in 2011. He's just organizational filler. Fri, Feb 1, 2013 09:31:00 AM

Charlie Haeger will miss the 2012 season after he "ripped up" his elbow while playing soft-toss this winter, according to the Boston Globe.

The knuckleballer was set to participate in Boston's minor league camp this spring but will instead begin a long process of rehabbing. Haeger was released by the Mariners in July after posting a 7.74 ERA in nine starts at Triple-A, but closed the year by going 4-1 with a 3.24 ERA in eight starts for Boston's Double-A affiliate. The odds of him ever getting back to the big leagues are slim.

Red Sox signed RHP Charlie Haeger to a minor league contract.

Haeger was released by the Mariners last week after posting a 7.74 ERA in nine starts at Triple-A. The knuckleballer will provide organizational depth.

Mariners released RHP Charlie Haeger.

Haeger posted a pitiful 7.74 ERA and 35/42 K/BB ratio this season for Tacoma. The knuckleballer might get picked up somewhere else, but we would be shocked to see him back in a major league uniform anytime soon.

Charlie Haeger is expected to miss 6-8 weeks following back surgery.

Haeger entered camp in the mix for a spot in the starting rotation, but his back issues limited him to just one appearance this spring. He'll presumably head to Triple-A Tacoma once he's ready to go.

Charlie Haeger will make his Cactus League debut Sunday against the Angels.

Haeger, a non-roster invitee, has been slowed for the early part of spring training due to a sore back.

Mariners signed RHP Charlie Haeger to a minor league deal.

The knuckleballer is coming off a putrid season that saw him post a 8.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP in 30 innings for the Dodgers and a 5.70 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 53 2/3 innings for Triple-A Albuquerque. The 27-year-old at one point looked like a possible back-of-the-rotation starter, but he won't be making an impact in 2011.

Dodgers sent RHP Charlie Haeger outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

The 26-year-old knuckleballer was designated for assignment last week after rattling off an 8.40 ERA and a 2.07 WHIP in six starts and three relief appearances. As expected, he drew little interest from other teams.

Dodgers designated RHP Charlie Haeger for assignment.

Haeger gave up four runs over 4 2/3 innings against the Angels on Thursday night and has an 8.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP over six starts and three relief appearances this season. Bottom line, the Dodgers should be able to do better than this.

Knuckleballer Charlie Harger gave up four runs in 4 2/3 innings Thursday against the Angels in his return from the DL.

The best that can be said is that he kept the Dodgers in the game. Haeger is 0-4 with an 8.40 ERA in six starts and three relief appearances this season. That he's out of options is the main reason he's still on the roster.

Charlie Haeger will be recalled from the minors to start against the Angels on Thursday.

Get excited? The Dodgers were apparently choosing between Haeger and Claudio Vargas for the assignment, but Joe Torre has decided to go with the knuckleballer. Heager has an 8.49 over five starts and two relief appearances this season. He isn't a recommended option in fantasy leagues.

Charlie Haeger allowed four runs in two innings Saturday during a rehab start for Single-A Inland Empire.

That's right, Haeger was lit up by a pack of Single-A ballplayers. He allowed four hits, one walk, and registered only a single strikeout. The knuckleballer posted an 8.49 ERA over his first seven outings (five starts) this season and won't be brought back to the majors anytime soon.

Dodgers activated RHP Charlie Haeger from the 15-day disabled list.

It (apparently) didn't take long for his previous injury to flare up, as Haeger was just activated from the disabled list last Thursday. He gave up two runs over two innings Saturday in his only appearance since coming off the disabled list.

Dodgers activated RHP Charlie Haeger from the 15-day disabled list.

Haeger was placed on the DL on May 10 with a foot injury, but mostly because he had opened the season with an 8.49 ERA through his first seven outings (five starts). Let's hope he's not given another crack in the starting rotation. If so, avoid him in all fantasy formats.

Charlie Haeger (foot) is set to make a second minor league rehab start Wednesday for Single-A Inland Empire.

Haeger is on the disabled list with plantar fasciitis in his right foot and is eligible to return in about a week. Whether he will be allowed back in to the Dodgers' rotation, though, remains to be seen. The knuckleballer had an 8.49 ERA and an 0-4 record in seven appearances (five starts) before the injury and John Ely is doing quite well as his replacement.
