Dodgers activated OF Scott Van Slyke from the 60-day disabled list.

Van Slyke is now back on the 40-man roster. The 30-year-old was limited to 52 games in 2016 due to back and wrist injuries. He underwent season-ending wrist surgery in August.
Nov 8 - 9:08 AM

Scott Van Slyke is set to undergo season-ending surgery on his right wrist.

He sustained the injury in May and there had been hope that he could rehab and return before the end of the season, but they'll opt for surgery instead. He should be fully recovered and ready to go for spring training.
Aug 27 - 2:22 PM

Dodgers transferred OF Scott Van Slyke to the 60-day disabled list.

That opens up a spot for Shawn Zarraga on the 40-man roster. With less than two months to go, this move effectively ends Van Slyke's season. He was hitting .225 before a right wrist injury sent him to the disabled list in early May.
Aug 25 - 10:36 PM

Dodgers placed OF Scott Van Slyke on the 15-day disabled list with right wrist irritation.

Chris Taylor was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding 25-man roster move. Van Slyke will aim to return when first eligible in 15 days.
Aug 9 - 5:43 PM

Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

In a rarity, the Dodgers were actually trailing with Clayton Kershaw on the mound entering the sixth inning. Granted, they were only down 1-0, but still, trailing. Van Slyke changed all of that with his three-run dinger off Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin. An early-April back injury forced the outfielder to miss almost two months of the season before he was activated from the disabled list at the beginning of June. He failed to pick up a hit in any of his first six games back, but has now hit safely in three straight games, smacking two doubles and a homer in that space.
Jun 15 - 6:52 PM

Dodgers activated OF Scott Van Slyke from the 15-day disabled list.

Van Slyke had been sidelined since early in the season due to a lower back injury. Prior to landing on the shelf, he was hitting just .111/.200/.222 with two RBI in nine at-bats. With Yasiel Puig heading to the disabled list, Van Slyke should find himself in the lineup against most left-handed starters.
Jun 3 - 10:51 PM

Scott Van Slyke (back) will be activated from the disabled list on either Saturday or Sunday.

He's with the club on Friday, but has yet to be activated. The team is waiting to determine the status of Yasiel Puig and Howie Kendrick before making a decision on the accompanying roster move to Van Slyke's activation. He'll return to a .111/.200/.222 line with no homers and two RBI in his first nine at-bats before he landed on the disabled list.
Jun 3 - 7:11 PM

Scott Van Slyke (back) had a single and a walk in seven innings Sunday in his rehab debut with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Van Slyke has been on the disabled list since early April with a lower back injury and is expected to spend this entire week playing in minor league games as he works toward regaining his timing at the plate. There is a big crowd right now in the Los Angeles outfield, so Van Slyke probably isn't going to offer much fantasy upside when he does return.
May 23 - 9:02 AM

Scott Van Slyke (back) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

Lower back irritation has kept him out since early April. Van Slyke won't need much time in Rancho and should be back with the Dodgers next weekend. Van Slyke might have a hard time getting at-bats when he returns. The Dodgers already have six outfielders on their 25-man roster.
May 21 - 10:15 PM

Scott Van Slyke (back) is set to begin a rehab assignment lasting around a week.

If all goes according to plan, Van Slyke should officially return to the Dodgers' active roster by the end of May. The 29-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since mid-April with lower back irritation.
May 18 - 9:04 PM

Scott Van Slyke (back) said Thursday that he expects to take batting practice "within a week."

Van Slyke finally noticed an improvement with his ailing back in the last few days and was cleared to hit off a tee and take soft-toss earlier this week. Despite the progress, it could be about another month before Van Slyke is activated. "I legitimately felt terrible for a few weeks picking up things, moving around," Van Slyke said. "It was a struggle the last couple weeks. Then everything settled and I’m building back up."
May 13 - 11:22 AM

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that early June would be the "best-case scenario" for Scott Van Slyke's return to action from a back injury.

Van Slyke has been doing exercises to strengthen his core, but he has yet to resume baseball activity. He hit the disabled list in early April with lower back tightness. The 29-year-old outfielder is a strong option against southpaw pitching when he is healthy. Once he has been cleared for baseball activities, we should have a more concrete idea of his recovery timetable.
May 4 - 5:28 PM

Scott Van Slyke (back) is not expected to return before June.

Van Slyke has been out for three weeks with a lower back injury and still hasn't been cleared to resume baseball activities. The 29-year-old has been a weapon for the Dodgers against left-handed pitching the last few seasons, so his absence for what looks like will be at least a couple months is notable.
May 1 - 3:13 PM

Scott Van Slyke (back) has yet to be cleared for baseball activities.

He's been sidelined with lower back tightness since April 12. Van Slyke has been working to strengthen his core muscles but there's no indication he's close to resuming baseball activities. The Dodgers' outfield has been plagued by injuries all year, though Carl Crawford's return Tuesday should provide a nice boost.
