Scott Van Slyke scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the 12th as the Dodgers edged the Rockies 6-5 on Saturday.
Van Slyke singled off Franklin Morales with one out, advanced to second when Tim Federowicz was hit by a pitch, stole third and then scored on the wild pitch. The steal was his second of the night, as he doubled his season total from two to four. It was only appropriate, since he entered the game initially as a pinch-runner for Adrian Gonzalez in the third. Sep 28 - 1:42 AM

Scott Van Slyke (ankle) appeared as a pinch hitter in Friday's loss to the Padres, drawing a walk in his lone plate appearance.

Van Slyke tweaked his ankle while running down a ball in the outfield on Wednesday, but X-rays came back negative. He should be cleared to return to the starting lineup at some point over the weekend should manager Don Mattingly decide to utilize him.

X-rays were negative on Scott Van Slyke's ankle.

Van Slyke turned his right ankle badly while chasing a ball in the gap Wednesday night, but he was able to walk off the field under his own power and he told reporters after the game that he only expects to miss a few days. The 28-year-old outfielder has been fantastic in limited action this season for the Dodgers, batting .267/.377/.517 with 10 home runs across 204 plate appearances.
Aug 28 - 9:06 AM

Scott Van Slyke exited Wednesday's game with a mild right ankle sprain.

The injury looked bad, but the Dodgers made sure to say it is a mild sprain. He's being considered day-to-day.

Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks with a right ankle injury.

Van Slyke was chasing a ball in the gap and rolled his ankle when planting. The outfielder was able to walk off under his own power. He had homered in the game before leaving. Carl Crawford replaced him in left field.
Aug 27 - 11:01 PM

Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer Friday against the Rockies.

Van Slyke hit his first six home runs this season off southpaws, but each of his last two homers has been against right-handers. Still, we like him best in fantasy leagues in matchups against left-handed starters. It's worth noting that the Rockies will start Jorge De La Rosa and Yohan Flande in the next two games.
Jul 5 - 12:16 AM

Scott Van Slyke was ejected from Saturday's game after the sixth inning for arguing a call at second base.

The Dodgers certainly won't be happy with Van Slyke's behavior, since it "forced" them to put a sore-kneed Andre Ethier in center field. What, did you think they might use Matt Kemp?
Jun 28 - 12:06 AM

Scott Van Slyke went 3-for-3 with two homers and two walks Monday to lead the Dodgers to a 6-2 win over the Reds.

Van Slyke was starting in center again, even though he has the least range of any of the Dodgers' outfielders. But he certainly deserves to be in the lineup somewhere against lefties, as he proved once again. He has six homers and 18 walks in 72 at-bats this season. With 26 strikeouts, too, he's making a run at becoming the game's ultimate Three-True Outcomes performer.
Jun 10 - 12:29 AM

Scott Van Slyke is starting in center Monday for the Dodgers against the White Sox in place of Andre Ethier.

Matt Kemp will remain in left field. Van Slyke mainly plays against lefties (tonight's is Jose Quintana) and Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is doing anything he can to put the Dodgers in a decent position defensively. Evidently he feels that Van Slyke is a better option in center than Kemp, which is highly debatable. Los Angeles has been a disaster on defense, piling up 44 errors in 58 games.
Jun 2 - 6:35 PM

Scott Van Slyke homered and doubled off Wade Miley in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Van Slyke is on pace for 12 homers and 12 doubles this year... off Wade Miley. Three of his four homers and three of his five doubles have come against the Arizona left-hander, who originally faced the Dodgers in the Australia series. Van Slyke only plays against lefties, but what a job he's done against them so far.
May 17 - 1:07 AM

Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, two walks, a triple, and a go-ahead solo home run as the Dodgers beat the Twins in 12 innings on Thursday.

A productive night for Van Slyke, who has been limited mostly to left-handed pitchers given his vast platoon splits. His 12th-inning solo home run off of Brian Duensing broke a 2-2 tie and pushed the Dodgers to victory. He also became the first Dodger to homer, triple, and steal a base in the same game since Marlon Anderson on September 18, 2006. Van Slyke is now slashing .306/.419/.722 in 43 plate appearances.
May 2 - 12:23 AM

Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double, and a walk in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks in the season opener in Australia.

Starting in left field with Carl Crawford on the paternity leave list, Van Slyke unexpectedly led the charge for the offense. His double in the second inning just missed going out while his two-run homer in the fourth inning sliced just inside the right field foul pole. We're not expecting much from him once the Dodgers' outfield is back to normal, but he's capable of being a useful bench bat for Don Mattingly.
Mar 22 - 7:54 AM

Scott Van Slyke 1-for-3 with a grand slam against the Angels on Thursday.

Van Slyke victimized Dane De La Rosa in the sixth inning. He's hoping to make the team as a bench bat after posting an .807 OPS in 152 plate appearances last season.
Mar 6 - 5:02 PM

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Thursday that he's "messed around" with Scott Van Slyke and Dee Gordon in center field during batting practice.

The Dodgers are using Skip Schumaker in center with both Matt Kemp (ankle) and Andre Ethier (ankle) unable to play the field, but they're preparing some backup possibilities. Mattingly said that Van Slyke is the "more viable option," while Gordon could be used "in an emergency." Carl Crawford and Yasiel Puig have experience in center field, but Mattingly wants to keep them at the corner spots.

Scott Van Slyke is nursing some tightness in his ribs.

He'll still be available to pinch-hit Monday. It might be a little while before Van Slyke is available to start, though.
