Rangers placed 1B/OF Kyle Blanks on the 15-day disabled list with left and right Achilles tendinitis.
Blanks has been no stranger to the DL throughout his career, and his season is proving no different. It's not clear at the moment how long he may be sidelined, but Blanks can safely be dropped in all fantasy leagues where he was owned. Jun 18 - 9:23 PM

Kyle Blanks was scratched Wednesday with left and right Achilles tendinitis.

Blanks has had a slew of injuries over his career, and the Achilles bothered him earlier in the year. Prince Fielder replaced him at first base and in the cleanup spot in the batting order Wednesday.
Jun 17 - 8:38 PM

Kyle Blanks went 2-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

The two hits were Blanks' first since coming off the disabled list last week. The first baseman, who played outfield Tuesday, is hitting .313/.352/.522 overall but has had trouble staying on the field in his career. When healthy, Blanks has been in the Rangers' lineup more often than not and is worthy of being started in AL-only leagues.
Jun 16 - 10:47 PM

Rangers activated 1B/OF Kyle Blanks from the 15-day disabled list.

Blanks missed three weeks with a pilonidal cyst. He's going to be limited to DH and first base duties initially, and probably won't carry much value for mixed leaguers.
Jun 11 - 1:43 PM

Kyle Blanks (cyst) is expected to rejoin the Rangers in the coming days, but will not play the outfield upon his return.

The team is pushing him back a little sooner than they would like as they are desperate for his right-handed power bat in the lineup, but he won't be ready to handle the outfield defensively, at least initially. He won't be an everyday player once he returns either, so he's a difficult player to use in most mixed leagues.
Jun 5 - 7:58 PM

Kyle Blanks (cyst) will begin playing in extended spring training games on Thursday.

Blanks has been out the last couple weeks after having pilonidal cyst removed. He should be activated by the Rangers before long but doesn't really have a clear path to playing time anymore.
Jun 2 - 6:58 PM

Rangers placed 1B/DH Kyle Blanks on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 20, with a pilonidal cyst.

Blanks was off to a .322/.365/.542 start with three homers over 15 games for the Rangers, but he's now making yet another trip to the DL. It's not clear how long he'll be out. Jake Smolinski has replace him on the roster.
May 22 - 4:10 PM

Kyle Blanks finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Royals.

Blanks scored a run in the sixth and had an RBI single in the seventh inning, giving him six RBI and nine runs scored through 13 games. The hulking infielder is hitting .314/.364/.549 with three homers this year, and with the Rangers going nowhere he should continue to get at-bats while he's healthy and hitting.
May 13 - 12:14 AM

Kyle Blanks went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in a win over the Astros Tuesday.

Blanks had a couple singles to go along with the solo blast, his third in just six games. The first baseman has been scorching hot since being recalled, owning a .391/.440/.826 line through 23 at-bats.
May 5 - 11:00 PM

Kyle Blanks went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's win over the A's.

Talk about making an immediate impact. This was just Blanks' third game of the season after being called up in the wake of Mitch Mooreland's elbow injury. Against the A's, the big first baseman hit almost everything thrown his way, with a home run, a double and a pair of singles. Blanks now has home runs in back-to-back games and should be seriously considered in deeper mixed leagues until Mooreland returns. With Triple-A Round Rock, he was hitting .327/.419/.635.
May 3 - 1:35 AM

Rangers purchased the contract of 1B Kyle Blanks from Triple-A Round Rock.

Blanks was batting .327/.419/.635 with three home runs and 11 RBI through 16 games this season for Round Rock. The big-bodied 28-year-old figures to get a large share of the playing time at DH while Mitch Moreland (elbow) is sidelined and is worth a look in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
Apr 29 - 4:28 PM

Kyle Blanks will be called up by the Rangers on Wednesday.

He'll replace Mitch Moreland (elbow) on the roster. Blanks has been crushing the ball at Triple-A Round Rock, batting .327/.419/.635 with three homers and 11 RBI. He should see plenty of playing time in the designated hitter spot while Moreland is out and is worth a look in deeper leagues.
Apr 28 - 11:33 PM

Rangers reassigned 1B/DH Kyle Blanks to minor league camp.

We can take another name out of the mix for the left field. The Rangers eased Blanks into things this spring after his Achilles issues last season and he hit just .235 (4-for-17) with zero extra-base hits and a 6/0 K/BB ratio across nine Cactus League games.
Mar 23 - 6:05 PM

Kyle Blanks (Achilles) is scheduled to play in games by mid-to-late next week.

The Rangers have been taking things slowly with Blanks after his Achilles issues last season. He'll be limited to working at first base and designated hitter initially but eventually will see work in the outfield as long as his health cooperates. Blanks could see plenty of playing time this season in left field and at designated hitter if he can stay on the field.
Mar 6 - 10:05 AM

Kyle Blanks (Achilles) indicated Saturday that he's been encouraged by his recovery from an Achilles injury.

Blanks has been running for nearly three weeks now and hasn't experienced any setbacks. While he'll be limited to working at first base and designated hitter at the start of the spring, if he continues to progress he could compete for a starting spot in left field before Opening Day.
