Kyle Kendrick worked his way around five walks to pitch seven innings of one-run ball against the Dodgers on Sunday.
The only run against Kendrick--indeed, the only run scored in the game--came on a Yasmani Grandal single to score Adrian Gonzalez in the fourth inning. Kendrick managed to last seven innings despite walking five batters. It helped that he allowed just three hits, which allowed him to work around the walks without incurring much damage. Even with the strong outing, he holds a 6.70 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and a 26/16 K/BB ratio over 47 innings. He should remain off the fantasy radar, but he'll at least attempt to knock that ERA under 6.50 when he faces off with the Giants next weekend. May 17 - 6:53 PM

Kyle Kendrick pitched well in a no-decision, yielding two runs in seven innings as the Rockies fell to the Angels on Tuesday.

The Angels plated their only runs against him in the fourth inning on a Matt Joyce ground out and Carlos Perez's RBI single. Overall, he scattered seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts. It was his first quality outing since tossing seven shutout frames on Opening Day. Kendrick owns an ugly 7.65 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP and a 25/11 K/BB ratio in 40 innings. He'll face a tough Dodgers lineup in a road start on Sunday. Fantasy owners should continue to pass over Kendrick.
May 13 - 1:19 AM

Kyle Kendrick was hit hard in Sunday's loss to the Padres, surrendering six runs on six hits over his five innings of work.

Kendrick struck out two and didn't issue a walk on the afternoon. Most of the damage against him was inflicted via the long ball, with Justin Upton and Derek Norris each blasting two-run homers. The veteran right-hander will carry a troublesome 8.73 ERA and 1.70 WHIP into Saturday's matchup against the Dodgers in Colorado.
May 3 - 7:42 PM

Kyle Kendrick will start for the Rockies on Sunday in San Diego, pushing Tyler Matzek back to Monday.

The club wants to split up left-handers Matzek and Jorge De La Rosa, who started Saturday. It's good news for Kendrick, who now gets to start at Petco Park rather than Coors Field.

May 3 - 10:18 AM

Kyle Kendrick was shelled in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks, as he was taken for eight runs over 4 1/3 innings.

Kendrick gave up 10 hits in total, five of which went for extra bases. He issued only one walk but also didn't strike anyone out. The D'Backs scored multiple runs in three frames against the right-hander: three in the first, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth. The Kyle Kendrick experiment has gone poorly for the Rockies so far, as he owns an 8.36 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP and a 19/10 K/BB ratio in 28 innings. He'll try to exact revenge in his next start, as he takes on the D'Backs again. It will be at Coors Field, which could prove even more problematic.
Apr 29 - 1:06 AM

Kyle Kendrick was tagged for six runs in 4 2/3 innings by the Dodgers in Friday's loss.

Kendrick has followed up his surprising Opening Day win (seven scoreless against the Brewers) by giving up 14 runs his last two times out. This would be a bigger problem if anyone out there actually owned him in a fantasy league.
Apr 18 - 1:56 AM

Kyle Kendrick fired seven scoreless innings Monday in a 10-0 win over the Brewers on Opening Day.

Well, that's a surprise. The idea of Kendrick as an Opening Day starter got a few laughs, but he managed to keep the Brewers off the board in his Rockies debut. He scattered seven hits and hit a batter, but didn't give up any walks and struck out six batters. You couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, but things could get ugly at Coors Field. He's not a fantasy option.
Apr 6 - 5:38 PM

Kyle Kendrick yielded four runs (three earned) in five innings, making his final spring start versus the Rangers on Wednesday.

Kendrick allowed a run in each of his first four innings, giving up five hits and a walk in total while striking out four. The right-hander ends Cactus League play with a 3.98 ERA and a 12/5 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings. Next up on the calendar: an Opening Day start against Brewers right-hander Kyle Lohse on Monday.
Apr 1 - 7:22 PM

Kyle Kendrick struggled in Friday's Cactus League outing against the Padres, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings.

The veteran right-hander walked a pair and struck out two on the afternoon. It was the worst outing of the spring to date for the Rockies' Opening Day starter. The 30-year-old owns a 3.52 ERA and 8/4 K/BB ratio across 15 1/3 innings in Cactus League play. He holds little fantasy value outside of NL-only formats.
Mar 28 - 1:36 AM

Kyle Kendrick blanked the Diamondbacks over four innings in Sunday's Cactus League start.

Kendrick limited the opposition to two hits and a walk while striking out one. Tabbed as the Opening Day starter for the Rockies, Kendrick has performed well this spring, allowing three runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out six over 11 innings. The success may not last as pitching in Coors Field isn't likely to benefit Kendrick, who owns a career 4.42 ERA.
Mar 22 - 7:32 PM

Kyle Kendrick has been named the Rockies' Opening Day starter by manager Walt Weiss.

Kendrick didn't even find a home until early February, an indication of the state of affairs of the Rockies pitching staff. Kendrick owned a 4.61 ERA as a member of the Phillies last season, and a move to Colorado isn't likely to cure what ails the 30-year-old.
Mar 18 - 8:46 PM

Kyle Kendrick served up two runs in three innings in Sunday's start against the Royals.

Both runs scored in the second inning. Overall, the right-hander gave up five hits while walking none and striking out one. Kendrick has had a decent start to the spring, but he's never had much fantasy value and should have even less pitching half his games at Coors Field.
Mar 15 - 7:02 PM

Kyle Kendrick held the Dodgers scoreless over two innings Tuesday in his second Cactus League start.

Kendrick struck out three of the eight batters he faced. The right-hander also looked pretty sharp last Friday in his Cactus League debut and should be locked into the Rockies' starting rotation after signing a one-year, $5.5 million free agent contract with the club in early February. Still, he's a poor fantasy bet for the 2015 season.
Mar 10 - 7:15 PM

Kyle Kendrick fared well in his Rockies debut on Friday, surrendering one run on three hits over two innings in Cactus League action.

Kendrick also walked one and struck out one on the day. The 30-year-old is penciled into a spot in the Rockies rotation, though his historical propensity to serve up the long ball is concerning considering the move to Coors Field. He’s best utilized as an NL-only option.
Mar 6 - 5:59 PM

Rockies signed RHP Kyle Kendrick to a one-year, $5.5 million contract.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported the contract terms. Kendrick could make an additional $500,000 if he reaches 190 innings in 2015. The veteran right-hander posted a 4.61 ERA with the Phillies last season and has averaged just 4.9 K/9 for his career, so it's hard to be optimistic about him in Colorado. He'll be expected to eat innings in the back end of the rotation.
