Rockies signed RHP Brandon Erbe to a minor league contract.
Erbe, 26, pitched only 10 innings between High- and Double-A last season with the Phillies, putting up a 5.40 ERA. The former top prospect is nothing more than minor league depth. Mon, Mar 10, 2014 06:13:00 PM

Phillies signed RHP Brandon Erbe to a minor league contract.

Erbe was once a pretty highly thought of prospect, but that was many years and shoulder problems ago. He'll turn just 25 next month, so at least he still has youth on his side.

Orioles re-signed RHP Brandon Erbe to a minor league contract.

Erbe, 23, threw only 4 2/3 total innings this past year at Single-A due to an arm injury. The former third-round pick is a long way from becoming a prospect.

Orioles sent RHP Brandon Erbe outright to Class A Aberdeen.

Erbe cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The former 2005 third-round pick has been limited to just five appearances this season after coming back from surgery to repair a torn labrum.

Orioles designated RHP Brandon Erbe for assignment.

He was cleared to make room for Cesar Izturis on the 40-man roster. Erbe, a former top prospect, has been limited to just five appearances in the minors this season after coming back from surgery to repair a torn labrum.

Brandon Erbe allowed just one hit in six innings and struck out eight for Double-A Bowie on Friday.

The one hit was a two-run homer from Akron's Carlos Santana, but the runs were unearned. Erbe, who is right up there with Chris Tillman as the Orioles' most talented pitching prospect, has allowed just the one hit in nine innings for the season.

Following up an outing in which he went seven hitless innings, Brandon Erbe allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings and struck out 12 for Single-A Frederick on Tuesday.

Over the two outings, Erbe struck out 21 and walked just two. He's always had big-time upside, and it's starting to show in his second year in the Carolina League.

Brandon Erbe pitched seven hitless innings and struck out nine Wednesday for Single-A Frederick.

An impressive outing, even if he did walk two, hit a batter and give up an earned run. Erbe's ERA is currently sitting at 4.65, but his 68/19 K/BB ratio in 71 2/3 innings is big improvement over where he was last year. The problem is that he's given up 10 homers. He's going to need to induce a few more grounders, but it is something he has been doing lately.

Brandon Erbe tossed five scoreless innings for Single-A Frederick on Saturday.

Erbe is repeating at Frederick after struggling to a 6.26 ERA last year. He's only 20 and he has a terrific arm, so he has plenty of time left to turn it around. If he remains successful, the Orioles could move him up to Double-A in May or June.

Brandon Erbe, bouncing back after four straight ugly outings, allowed one earned run in eight innings and struck out 11 for Single-A Frederick on Tuesday.

Erbe gave up 21 earned runs in nine innings over his previous four starts. He's allowed 11 earned runs in 43 innings in his other seven starts this season.

Brandon Erbe was pulled after walking three of the five batters he faced for Single-A Frederick on Friday.

There was no injury, apparently. It seems the club just didn't want to risk letting him throw 40-50 pitches in the inning. The 19-year-old Erbe is 3-0 with a 2.78 ERA for Frederick.

Brandon Erbe pitched six innings of no-hit ball to win Tuesday for Single-A Frederick.

Erbe walked four and gave up a run in the contest. The 19-year-old right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.83 ERA, 17 H and 21/15 K/BB in 28 2/3 innings this season. With his stuff, he's certain to have a better strikeout rate at season's end.

Brandon Erbe fanned 10 while allowing one hit in five scoreless innings for low Single-A Delmarva on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old Erbe is 4-3 with a 2.04 ERA, 37 H and 65/14 K/BB in 53 IP this season. That kind of command, combined with an outstanding fastball, has already turned him into a top pitching prospect.
