Rays released RHP Will Inman.
Inman signed a minor league contract with the Rays in November 2012 and then went on to post a 6.47 ERA in 32 innings this season at Triple-A Durham. The 26-year-old right-hander will try to find a new organization. Mon, Jul 1, 2013 03:08:00 PM

Rays signed RHP Will Inman to a minor league contract.

Inman had a promising 2.23 ERA in 48 1/3 innings this summer at Triple-A Pawtucket -- an affiliate of the Red Sox. He'll serve as organizational depth for Tampa Bay.

Red Sox signed RHP Will Inman to a minor league contract.

Inman, 24, registered a rough 6.15 ERA in 117 innings (17 starts, 25 relief appearances) this year at Triple-A Tucson. He'll be relief depth for the Red Sox.

Will Inman pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out seven Sunday for Double-A San Antonio.

It's surprising that Inman is still in Double-A after going 9-8 with a 3.52 ERA for San Antonio last year. He's 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA, 33 H and 36/8 K/BB in 44 1/3 innings this year, so it's clearly time for a promotion to the PCL. He should be a candidate for San Diego's rotation after the All-Star break.

Will Inman fanned a season-high 11 while allowing two runs and three hits in seven innings Monday for Double-A San Antonio.

Inman improved to 4-1 with a 2.15 ERA for the month of June. He's now made 31 Double-A starts dating back to last year, so it's time to test him with PCL hitting.

Will Inman struck out eight in a rain-shortened, five-inning shutout Friday for Double-A San Antonio.

Inman has allowed two earned runs in three starts this month to improved to 7-2 with a 2.84 ERA, 56 H and 76/33 K/BB in 73 IP in the Texas League. Ideally, the Padres wouldn't need him until next year. However, he will be a candidate to debut after the All-Star break.

Padres acquired RHP Will Inman, LHP Joe Thatcher and LHP Steve Garrison from the Brewers for RHP Scott Linebrink.

At least until he hit Double-A this year, Inman was as effective as any minor league pitcher over the last year and a half, going 10-2 with a 1.71 ERA in the Sally League in 2006 and 4-3 with a 1.72 ERA in the FSL this season. He was 1-5 with a 5.45 ERA in Double-A, but he had given up just eight earned runs in his last five starts. Inman's fastball is a little below average, so he'll have to prove himself at every level. He was probably a future No. 4 for the Brewers. In San Diego, though, his fantasy stock takes a big jump. Not only will the ballpark be great for him, but he has less standing in his way of getting to the majors. Expect him to debut at some point during 2008.

Will Inman was tagged for six runs in 2 2/3 innings Friday in his debut for Double-A Huntsville.

Inman was scheduled to start the FSL All-Star Game today before getting word of his promotion. He was 4-3 with a 1.72 ERA, 56 H and 98/23 K/BB in 78 2/3 IP for Single-A Brevard County.

Will Inman fanned a season-high 12 while allowing one run in six innings Friday for Single-A Brevard County.

Inman is 3-2 with a 1.36 ERA, 47 H and 77/15 K/BB in 59 2/3 innings. It certainly seems as though he's ready to be tested at Double-A.

Will Inman struck out nine over seven scoreless innings Friday for Single-A Brevard County.

He allowed three hits and walked none. Inman, the Brewers' No. 2 pitching prospect, has a 43/6 K/BB ratio to go along with his 1.51 ERA in 35 2/3 innings for Brevard County.

Will Inman allowed one hit in six scoreless innings Wednesday for Single-A Brevard County.

He struck out seven and walked two. Inman has given up one run and struck out 22 in 16 2/3 innings in the Florida State League. He's just 20, but he seems ready for Double-A already. The Brewers, though, never promoted him from low-A West Virginia last season even though his ERA was under 2.00 pretty much all season long.

Will Inman pitched two-hit ball over eight scoreless innings and struck out nine Monday for low Single-A West Virginia.

It can't be easy with the kind of numbers the 19-year-old has amassed, but the Brewers have handled Inman very carefully, especially since he went on the DL with a shoulder strain in May. He's 9-1 with a 1.48 ERA, 56 H and 90/19 K/BB in 79 IP. Maybe he won't be allowed to move up quickly, but he's a very good prospect.

Single-A West Virginia's Will Inman pitched three scoreless innings Saturday in his return from a shoulder strain.

Inman, who had been out since May, has a 1.66 ERA and a 43/5 K/BB ratio in 38 innings this season. He could be a future No. 3 starter if he can avoid more significant arm problems.
