Mark Lowe picked up his seventh hold of the season in Sunday's win over the Rays.
After starter Jordan Zimmermann went down with a strained groin in the sixth inning, the Tigers had to piece together the rest of the game via the bullpen. Lowe came on in the eighth inning. Things started out poorly enough for the veteran reliever, as he allowed back-to-back singles to Evan Longoria and Steve Pearce to open the inning. He settled down to strike out the next two batters and induced a Corey Dickerson foul-out to close the frame. In 18 appearances (15 1/3 innings), Lowe holds an uncomfortable 7.04 ERA and a 14/7 K/BB ratio. More reliable sources for holds can be found elsewhere. Sun, May 22, 2016 04:55:00 PM

Mark Lowe surrendered two runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning against the Phillies on Saturday.

The Tigers gave Lowe a two-year, $11 million contract to take over as their primary setup man, but he's 32 and never had consecutive healthy and effective seasons in his career. Today's outing pushed his spring ERA up to 9.82. However, he does have an excellent 11/1 K/BB ratio in 7 1/3 innings.

Tigers signed RHP Mark Lowe to a two-year, $11 million contract.

The deal was reported on Monday and it's now official. Lowe had to settle for a minor league deal last winter, but he got himself quite a payday after posting a 1.96 ERA and 61/12 K/BB ratio over 55 innings this past season. He'll serve as a set-up man for Detroit's new closer Francisco Rodriguez.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Mark Lowe's two-year deal with the Tigers is worth $11 million.

It was previously reported to be a two-year, $13 million contract. Lowe, 32, had an impressive 1.96 ERA and 61/12 K/BB ratio over 55 innings this past season between the Mariners and Blue Jays. He'll serve as a set-up man for Francisco Rodriguez in Detroit's new-look bullpen.

Mark Lowe has agreed to a two-year deal with the Tigers, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN was the first to link the two, and FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal has the money at $13 million over the life of the two-year pact. Lowe, a well-traveled 32-year-old setup man, registered an impressive 1.96 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 61/12 K/BB ratio in 55 innings this past season between the Mariners and Blue Jays. It's a nice pickup for the Tigers, who have badly needed reliable bullpen help.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that the Tigers are closing in on a two-year deal with free agent right-hander Mark Lowe.

The Tigers bullpen has been their demise for several seasons, so adding a quality setup man like Mark Lowe to work in front of newly acquired closer Francisco Rodriguez is a step in the right direction. The 32-year-old hurler posted a 1.96 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 61/12 K/BB ratio across 55 innings between the Mariners and Blue Jays in 2015.

Blue Jays acquired RHP Mark Lowe from the Mariners for LHP Nick Wells, LHP Rob Rasmussen and LHP Jake Brentz.

Lowe has been a big asset in Seattle's pen this year, giving up just four earned runs in 36 innings, but it's also been a long time since he's stayed healthy for a full season. In fact, he hasn't thrown 50 innings in a season since 2011 (he's actually at 45 right now, including his Triple-A time). The Blue Jays can throw him right into a setup role, but who knows if he'll still be able to contribute in September or October.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Blue Jays will acquire Mark Lowe from the Mariners in exchange for three minor leaguers.

Lowe inked a minor league deal with the M's over the winter and wasn't called up until May, but he's since posted a 1.00 ERA with 47 strikeouts over 36 innings. He'll held set up with the Blue Jays.

Mariners purchased the contract of RHP Mark Lowe from Triple-A Tacoma.

The veteran right-hander had allowed one run over nine innings for Tacoma, boasting an 11/1 K/BB ratio. Lowe will work in middle relief for the M's.

Mariners signed RHP Mark Lowe to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Lowe made just seven appearances in 2014, allowing 10 hits and six walks in seven innings for the Indians. The 31-year-old right-hander seems doubtful to crack Seattle's Opening Day bullpen.

Mark Lowe has elected free agency.

The 31-year-old right-hander appeared in seven games with the Indians during the 2014 season, registering a 3.86 ERA, 2.29 WHIP and 6/6 K/BB ratio. He'll look to secure a minor league deal with a spring training invitation elsewhere.

Lowe had been designated for assignment earlier this week, but he's cleared waivers and decided to remain in the organization. He's allowed seven runs -- three earned -- over seven innings of work with the Indians this season.
