Mets acquired LHP Eric O'Flaherty and cash considerations from the Athletics in exchange for a player to be named later.
O'Flaherty was designated for assignment by the A's last weekend but has landed on his feet quickly. The left-hander hasn't been the same pitcher since all the injuries hit, as his 5.91 ERA in 25 games for Oakland this year can attest. He can still get lefties out, though, having held them to a .186/.286/.209 batting line this season. O'Flaherty is taking Alex Torres' spot in the bullpen. Aug 4 - 10:50 PM

Athletics designated LHP Eric O'Flaherty for assignment.

O'Flaherty has posted a miserable 5.91 ERA in 25 games for Oakland this year and could probably use a change of scenery. The A's called up right-hander Aaron Brooks in the corresponding roster move.

Athletics activated LHP Eric O'Flaherty from the 15-day disabled list.

O'Flaherty has been sidelined for about a month with left shoulder inflammation. He allowed 10 runs (nine earned) with a 7/5 K/BB ratio over seven innings prior to hitting the shelf and will look for better results in his return.

Eric O'Flaherty is expected to make his final appearance in a minor league rehab game with High-A Stockton on Saturday before rejoining the Athletics bullpen.

He has been sidelined since early May with left shoulder inflammation. Before hitting the shelf, the 30-year-old southpaw posted a troublesome 11.57 ERA and 2.29 WHIP over seven innings of work out of the A's bullpen.

May 24 - 11:52 AM

Eric O'Flaherty (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session later this week.

It will be his first time back on the bump since landing on the disabled list early this month with left shoulder inflammation. There's no word on a potential timetable for O'Flaherty's return, but a rehab assignment shouldn't be far off.

Eric O'Flaherty (shoulder) resumed a throwing program on Friday.

He also threw on Saturday, playing catch from a distance of 90 feet. There's no word on a potential timetable for O'Flaherty's return, but the A's figure to be careful here.

An MRI on Eric O'Flaherty's left shoulder showed only inflammation.

He'll be shut down until he regains all of the range of motion in his shoulder, but the good news is he's not dealing with any structural damage. O'Flaherty holds an 11.57 ERA and 2.29 WHIP over seven innings this season.

Eric O'Flaherty (shoulder) will undergo an MRI Sunday.

May 2 - 4:00 PM

Eric O'Flaherty (elbow) tried throwing on Monday and didn't feel completely comfortable.

He is not on the A's active roster for Tuesday night's Wild Card Game in Kansas City and the left-hander might not be an option for the ALDS either. O'Flaherty was bothered by discomfort in his surgically-repaired elbow over the final few weeks of the regular season.
Tue, Sep 30, 2014 05:44:00 PM

Eric O'Flaherty is not on the A's roster for Tuesday's Wild Card game against the Royals.

Scott Kazmir, Sonny Gray, Jeff Samardzija were also left off, but Jason Hammel and Drew Pomeranz are on the roster just in case they are needed in long relief. Of course, with Jon Lester on the hill, the A's are hoping that won't be necessary. Speedster Billy Burns is also on the roster, giving Oakland a pinch-running option in the late innings. The A's will reset their roster if they make it through to the ALDS.
