Braves purchased the contract of LHP Eric O'Flaherty from Triple-A Gwinnett.
O'Flaherty has won a spot on the Braves' 40-man roster. A non-roster invitee this spring, the 32-year-old has posted a strong 1.69 ERA and 14/3 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings during Grapefruit League action. It's been a rough couple of years for him, but he's feeling good after his elbow surgery last August. He'll function as a lefty specialist in his return to Atlanta's bullpen. Mar 28 - 9:46 AM

Braves signed LHP Eric O'Flaherty to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

O'Flaherty has battled injuries for much of the last three years and needed a cleanup procedure on his left elbow this past August, finishing at a 6.91 ERA in 39 regular-season appearances. He won't be guaranteed a spot in the Braves' bullpen out of camp.

Eric O'Flaherty will miss the remainder of the 2016 season after undergoing a surgical procedure to clean up his left elbow.

O'Flaherty went under the knife to clear his elbow from some of the debris that has accumulated in the wake of an earlier Tommy John surgery. He won't be able to pitch for the next few months, meaning that his 2016 season has officially come to a close. The 31-year-old southpaw should be ready for the start of spring training in 2017. He finishes the current season holding a 6.91 ERA in 39 appearances.

Braves placed LHP Eric O'Flaherty on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 18, with left elbow neuritis.

It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. O'Flaherty has been awful this season with a 6.91 ERA over 39 appearances.

Braves activated LHP Eric O'Flaherty from the 15-day disabled list.

O'Flaherty missed about a month with a strained knee. Arodys Vizcaino (oblique) was placed on the disabled list in the corresponding roster move. O'Flaherty has struggled in his role as a left-hander specialist with a dismal 6.52 ERA over 27 outings.

Eric O'Flaherty (knee) could rejoin the Braves next week.

O'Flaherty has been out for about a month with a right knee strain, but he owns a shiny 1.50 ERA and 8/0 K/BB ratio over six innings during his minor league rehab assignment. If all goes well, he could be activated as soon as Monday.

Eric O'Flaherty (knee) began a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Braves on Saturday.

It's unclear how many appearances he'll need before returning, but it shouldn't take long. O'Flaherty has missed the last three weeks with a strained knee.

Braves placed LHP Eric O'Flaherty on the 15-day disabled list with a strained knee.

O'Flaherty has registered a rough 6.52 ERA in 1.55 WHIP in 19 1/3 innings this season out of the Braves' bullpen. An MRI showed no major structural damage in his knee and he's aiming to return when first eligible.

Braves acquired LHP Eric O'Flaherty from the Pirates for cash considerations; purchased his contract from Triple-A Gwinnett.

O'Flaherty is returning to the place where he's had the most success in the majors, having put up a 1.99 ERA from 2009-13 with the Braves. His stuff hasn't rebounded from 2014 Tommy John surgery, but O'Flaherty holds a 2.89 ERA this spring and Atlanta is hoping he can boost their left-handed relief corps.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Braves have acquired Eric O'Flaherty from the Pirates.

It's not clear what the Pirates are getting in return, but it doesn't figure to be much since O'Flaherty was in camp on a minor league deal. The left-hander held a 1.99 ERA from 2009-13 with the Braves but hasn't been the same pitcher since having Tommy John surgery in 2014. O'Flaherty holds a 2.89 ERA this spring but has given up 15 hits over 9 1/3 innings.

Eric O'Flaherty gave up five runs -- one earned -- in his inning of work versus the Tigers on Wednesday.

O'Flaherty faces an uphill battle to win a spot in Pittsburgh's pen, so this isn't a good start. He just hasn't been his old self since returning from Tommy John surgery in 2014. Last year, he had an 8.10 ERA in 30 innings for the A's and Mets.

Pirates signed LHP Eric O'Flaherty to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.

O'Flaherty wasn't right in 2015, posting a 8.10 ERA and 21/18 K/BB ratio over 30 innings while dealing with left shoulder issues, but he's been an effective lefty reliever in the past. The Pirates have a track record of getting pitchers straightened out, so it's a near-ideal landing spot for the 31-year-old.

Eric O'Flaherty is expected to throw for scouts Wednesday in Seattle.

O'Flaherty, who turns 31 in February, had some shoulder issues last season and struggled to the tune of an 8.10 ERA and 21/18 K/BB ratio over 30 innings between the Athletics and the Mets. He claims to be healthy now and believes that he has fixed his mechanics, so he'll try to make his case in his throwing session. Odds are he'll have to settle for a minor league deal at this point.

Eric O'Flaherty is day-to-day with a back injury.

There are eight days until the start of the NLDS, so O'Flaherty should be fine health-wise. But he probably won't crack the roster anyway with his 8.10 season ERA.

Mets acquired LHP Eric O'Flaherty and cash considerations from the Athletics in exchange for a player to be named later.

O'Flaherty was designated for assignment by the A's last weekend but has landed on his feet quickly. The left-hander hasn't been the same pitcher since all the injuries hit, as his 5.91 ERA in 25 games for Oakland this year can attest. He can still get lefties out, though, having held them to a .186/.286/.209 batting line this season. O'Flaherty is taking Alex Torres' spot in the bullpen.
