Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Todd Coffey (elbow) likely needs Tommy John surgery.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly called the injury "pretty significant," and he was evidently being kind. If he does need the operation, he'd be sidelined until around the All-Star break next season.

Dodgers placed RHP Todd Coffey on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness.

Coffey was knocked around a bit in an appearance Monday, but evidently he wasn't feeling right. Manager Don Mattingly called the injury "pretty significant," so it sounds like Coffey will be out for a while. He'll be replaced on the roster by Shawn Tolleson.

Dodgers activated RHP Todd Coffey from the 15-day disabled list.

Insert your own, "Nathan Eovaldi just came up for a cup of Coffey" joke here. Coffey was placed on the disabled list earlier this month with right knee inflammation. He appeared in only three games prior to hitting the shelf.

Todd Coffey (knee) pitched an inning of scoreless relief Friday in his second rehab game with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

The Dodgers are expected to place Todd Coffey (knee) on the disabled list.

Coffey made a brief appearance in Friday's game but was pulled for what was thought to be performance issues. With veteran Ted Lilly (neck) scheduled to come off the disabled list and make his first start, the most likely move appears to be Coffey going to the 15-day DL.

Dodgers signed RHP Todd Coffey to a one-year, $1.3 million contract with a $2.5 million club option for 2013.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that he'll make $1 million this season while the option includes a $300,000 buyout. Coffey saw decreases with his strikeout and ground ball rates last season with the Nationals, but still managed a 3.62 ERA over 69 appearances. Assuming Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly uses him appropriately (keeps him away from lefty batters), the 31-year-old right-hander should remain an effective mid-to-late inning bridge.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Dodgers and reliever Todd Coffey have agreed to a contract.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that it's a one-year, $1.3 million deal with a club option for 2013. Coffey, 31, earned $1.35 million last season with the Nationals while posting a solid 3.62 ERA and 46/20 K/BB ratio over 60 innings. He should continue to be a solid bullpen option.

Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN.com in Minnesota reports that the Cubs and Athletics are among the teams showing the most interest in free agent reliever Todd Coffey.

The Twins were talking to Coffey earlier this winter, but Wolfson hears that they aren't considered a serious contender for his services. The 31-year-old right-hander earned $1.35 million last season with the Nationals while posting a 3.62 ERA and 46/20 K/BB ratio over 60 innings. He'll likely wind up with a similar contract this winter.

According to Phil Mackey of 1500ESPN.com, the Twins are talking to free agent reliever Todd Coffey.

Mackey hears that the Twins are one of "several clubs" that have showed at least mild interest in the 31-year-old right-hander. Previous reports have linked him to the Nationals, Brewers and Mets. Coffey posted a 3.62 ERA and 46/20 K/BB ratio over 59 2/3 innings last season with Washington. The Twins likely have room for one more reliever in their budget and have previously spoken with the agent for Dan Wheeler.

According to MLB.com's Bill Ladson, it's "less than 50 percent" that Todd Coffey returns to the Nationals.

Coffey has drawn interest from the Mets and Brewers, among others. The 31-year-old right-hander posted a 3.62 ERA and 46/20 K/BB ratio across 59 2/3 innings last season in the Nationals' bullpen. He would likely settle for a one-year contract with an option for 2013.
