White Sox signed RHP Andrew Brackman to a minor league contract.
A former first-round pick of the Yankees, Brackman had an ugly 6.71 ERA and 45/42 K/BB ratio in 63 innings last season between the Reds' Double- and Triple-A affiliates. There's little hope for a sudden turnaround, but the White Sox are willing to take the gamble. Wed, Jan 30, 2013 01:15:00 PM

Reds sent RHP Andrew Brackman outright to High-A Bakersfield.

The former first-round pick was designated for assignment earlier this week after posting a 6.80 ERA through 49 innings at High- and Triple-A. Brackman hasn't had any level of success in the minors since 2010.

Reds designated RHP Andrew Brackman for assignment.

Reds optioned RHP Andrew Brackman, OF Denis Phipps and IF Chris Valaika to Triple-A Louisville.

Brackman received a major league deal from the Reds this offseason and has a chance to return to the majors if he can reestablish himself in Louisville. The Reds roster size is now down to 33 players.

Reds signed RHP Andrew Brackman to a one-year contract.

The deal is worth the veteran major league minimum but also carries some performance-based incentives. Brackman, a former first-round pick of the Yankees, posted an ugly 6.00 ERA and 75/75 K/BB ratio across 96 innings last season at the Triple-A level. He's doubtful to ever meet the expectations people had for him.

Andrew Brackman has reached an agreement on a major-league deal with the Reds worth the veteran minimum plus incentives, reports Jon Heyman of SI.com.

The Reds lost Dontrelle Willis earlier in the day and found a fungible arm to replace him. Brackman, a 25-year-old former first-round pick, did well to find a major league deal. The right-hander registered a disappointing 6.00 ERA and 75/75 K/BB ratio in 96 innings this past season at the Triple-A level. Once considered one of the Yankees' most promising pitching prospects, he will have no fantasy value as a long man in Cincinnati's bullpen.

Yankees declined RHP Andrew Brackman's option for 2012.

Brackman, a 25-year-old former first-round pick, is now free to sign with any team. The right-hander registered a disappointing 6.00 ERA and 75/75 K/BB ratio in 96 innings this season at the Triple-A level.

Yankees recalled RHP Andrew Brackman from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Once considered one of the Yankees' most promising pitching prospects, Brackman posted an ugly 6.00 ERA and 75/75 K/BB ratio over 96 innings in 33 starts at the Triple-A level this season. Needless to say, he is unlikely to get much work in September.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Tuesday that Andrew Brackman is not likely to be promoted this year.

Brackman was given a crack at one of the Yankees' open rotation spots this spring, but he failed in that attempt and has posted a 6.92 ERA in 12 appearances so far at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 25-year-old badly needs to put together a better second half.

Yankees optioned RHP Andrew Brackman, OF Kevin Russo, INF Brandon Laird and OF Melky Mesa to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre; LHP Steve Garrison and RHP Ryan Pope to Double-A Trenton.

Brackman was a fringe candidate for one of the two openings in the Yankees' starting rotation earlier this spring, but a groin issue put those plans on hold. He'll begin the year at Triple-A and act as insurance if Ivan Nova, Freddy Garcia or Bartolo Colon slips up.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Monday that Andrew Brackman is out of the mix for a rotation spot.

Pretty much what we expected. Brackman probably didn't have much of a chance in the first place, but his recent groin injury makes the decision easier. That being said, the 25-year-old right-hander is feeling well enough that he could make his spring debut Tuesday against the Braves.

Andrew Brackman (groin) will toss one more simulated game before appearing in his first spring training game.

Brackman threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday and then 25 more to Austin Krum and Brandon Laird without pain. The 25-year-old is ostensibly competing for a rotation spot but will almost assuredly begin the year in the minors.

Andrew Brackman (groin) threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session and then 25 to hitters Austin Krum and Brandon Laird Saturday without incident.

"It was good," Brackman said. "No problems." The 25-year-old hopes to pitch in a game within the next few days. Brackman is technically competing for a spot in the rotation but will undoubtedly begin the year in the minors.

Andrew Brackman (groin) threw 20 pitches off a mound Tuesday morning in Yankees camp.

Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild watched the throwing session and told reporters that the youngster looked "fine." Brackman is expected to throw off a mound again on Thursday. He should be participating in spring games by next week, or maybe even by this weekend.

Andrew Brackman has been shut down for a couple of days due to tightness and discomfort in his groin.

It sounds like a precautionary measure, designed to keep Brackman out of the first run of exhibition games. He is still in the hunt for a rotation spot and will throw a bullpen session Tuesday to test his minor groin injury. "It's not going to hurt me," the 25-year-old said Friday.
