Chris Sampson and Brad Hand are candidates to replace the recently demoted Chris Volstad as the Marlins' No. 5 starter.
Hand is the obvious candidate because he's been up a couple times already and has pitched well. Sampson, though, has posted a 3.55 ERA in 12 starts at Triple-A New Orleans and might be worth a look. The Marlins won't need to promote either until next weekend. Sun, Jul 24, 2011 11:35:00 AM

Sampson, 32, posted an ugly 5.93 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 35 appearances for the Astros last season before they outrighted him off their 40-man roster in September.
