Orioles reassigned INFs Paul Janish and Jayson Nix to minor league camp.
Janish simply didn't have enough time to state his case after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his elbow in February. With both veteran infielders out of the picture, it appears that Everth Cabrera has secured a spot on the Opening Day roster. Apr 3 - 10:07 PM

Paul Janish (elbow) will make his first start of the Grapefruit League season on Saturday against the Twins.

Janish had surgery in February to remove bone spurs from his right elbow, but has made quick progress in his recovery. He'll only have a couple of weeks to state his case for making the Opening Day roster as a reserve infielder.

Paul Janish (elbow) has been cleared for game action.

Janish is just three weeks removed from surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, but he's healed rapidly. It's sounding like he could have a chance to be ready by Opening Day, though he's still a long shot to crack the roster.

Mar 13 - 9:21 AM

Paul Janish (elbow) is scheduled to begin throwing next week.

The veteran infielder underwent surgery in February to remove bone chips from his right elbow. He has already been taking ground balls and is expected to begin hitting this weekend. He's still a couple of weeks away from game action, so he'll have limited time to impress the O's brass enough to earn a bench spot on the Opening Day roster.
Mar 7 - 9:06 AM

Paul Janish (elbow) could begin hitting this weekend.

Janish underwent surgery two weeks ago to remove bone chips from his right elbow, but he took grounders for 20-25 minutes on Tuesday and will throw on Friday or Saturday. He hopes to play in games starting March 20-21, which doesn't give him much time to show the Orioles that he should make the team. Look for him to begin the year in the minors.
Mar 4 - 8:42 AM

Paul Janish will be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks following surgery on his right elbow.

The procedure removed painful bone chips from the veteran infielder's throwing arm. Janish was already doubtful to make the Orioles' Opening Day roster. He'll open the 2015 season on the 15-day disabled list.

Paul Janish went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in during Wednesday's 8-2 victory over the Rangers.

Rockies signed INF Paul Janish to a minor league contract.

Janish received an invite to spring training, where he'll compete for a bench spot. The veteran wears a vacuum as a glove, but he can't hit a lick. He posted a .723 OPS in 2010 with the Reds, but never cracked a .601 mark in any of his five other seasons. The 31-year-old slashed just .171/.222/.220 over 45 plate appearances with the Braves last year.

Paul Janish suffered a broken nose during a weight-lifting accident on Friday.

But he isn't in any pain and has been cleared to play through the injury. "It was a freak deal," said Janish. "I’ve had some stitches, but it’s not bad. It doesn’t affect anything so long as I don’t get hit in the nose again." He has not made an appearance yet in the NLDS.

Paul Janish is expected to serve as the Braves' primary second baseman while Dan Uggla is on the disabled list.

Janish is a very capable defender, but offers little-to-nothing with the bat. Even in the deepest of NL-only formats, he makes for a middling play at best.
