Rockies signed INF Paul Janish to a minor league contract.

Janish received an invite to spring training, where he'll compete for a bench spot. The veteran wears a vacuum as a glove, but he can't hit a lick. He posted a .723 OPS in 2010 with the Reds, but never cracked a .601 mark in any of his five other seasons. The 31-year-old slashed just .171/.222/.220 over 45 plate appearances with the Braves last year.

Paul Janish suffered a broken nose during a weight-lifting accident on Friday.

But he isn't in any pain and has been cleared to play through the injury. "It was a freak deal," said Janish. "I’ve had some stitches, but it’s not bad. It doesn’t affect anything so long as I don’t get hit in the nose again." He has not made an appearance yet in the NLDS.
