Janish is just a .216/.284/.289 hitter for his career. And he was hitting even worse than that this season, holding an uneasy .194/.286/.226 triple-slash across 35 plate appearances with the big league club. Jun 22 - 10:27 PM

Paul Janish is scheduled to go on the paternity leave list at Triple-A Norfolk.

Janish will be a candidate for playing time at shortstop in Baltimore once he is activated from that leave list, though Manny Machado is expected to handle most of the load. J.J. Hardy was diagnosed Monday with a fracture in his left foot and will likely miss the next 6-8 weeks. Ryan Flaherty will also be joining the O's at some point soon to provide infield depth.
May 2 - 3:02 PM

Orioles re-assigned INFs Paul Janish and Steve Tolleson, RHPs Pedro Beato and Todd Redmond, and OF L.J. Hoes to minor league camp.

Janish, a 33-year-old utility infielder, hit .319 with a homer and seven RBI in 54 plate appearances during Grapefruit League play, but was still unable to earn a spot on the O's bench to begin the season. He should get an opportunity with the big league club at some point during the upcoming season.

MASN's Roch Kubatko wrote that he's hearing that the Orioles have signed INF Paul Janish to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.

The Orioles non-tendered Janish in early December, but it looks as though they might be bringing him back into the fold. The 33-year-old utility infielder hit .286/.278/.371 with three RBI in 35 at-bats with the big league club during the 2015 campaign. He hasn't seen more than 41 at-bats in the majors since 2012.

Janish is now a free agent. He hit .286/.278/.371 with a trio of RBI in 35 major league at-bats in 2015. The veteran infielder will look for a bench utility role elsewhere now that the Orioles have let him walk.

Paul Janish entered as an injury replacement and went 2-for-3 in a losing effort against the Royals on Thursday.

The utility infielder was called up earlier in the week to provide depth with J.J. Hardy on the disabled list. He isn't expected to see enough action to become fantasy relevant.

Janish was batting .235/.313/.272 over 95 games in Triple-A. The 32-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2013, but he'll provide some middle infield depth with J.J. Hardy (groin) on the disabled list.

Orioles reassigned INFs Paul Janish and Jayson Nix to minor league camp.

Janish simply didn't have enough time to state his case after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his elbow in February. With both veteran infielders out of the picture, it appears that Everth Cabrera has secured a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Paul Janish (elbow) will make his first start of the Grapefruit League season on Saturday against the Twins.

Paul Janish (elbow) has been cleared for game action.

Janish is just three weeks removed from surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, but he's healed rapidly. It's sounding like he could have a chance to be ready by Opening Day, though he's still a long shot to crack the roster.

Paul Janish (elbow) is scheduled to begin throwing next week.

The veteran infielder underwent surgery in February to remove bone chips from his right elbow. He has already been taking ground balls and is expected to begin hitting this weekend. He's still a couple of weeks away from game action, so he'll have limited time to impress the O's brass enough to earn a bench spot on the Opening Day roster.

Paul Janish (elbow) could begin hitting this weekend.

Janish underwent surgery two weeks ago to remove bone chips from his right elbow, but he took grounders for 20-25 minutes on Tuesday and will throw on Friday or Saturday. He hopes to play in games starting March 20-21, which doesn't give him much time to show the Orioles that he should make the team. Look for him to begin the year in the minors.
