White Sox signed OF Tyler Colvin to a minor league contract.
Colvin refused a minor league assignment after failing to make the Marlins' Opening Day roster, hoping to net a big league deal elsewhere. That didn't happen and he's now resurfaced in the minors with Chicago. He'll probably need an injury or two to get a shot with the Pale Hose. May 3 - 1:56 PM

The Marlins wanted to keep him around as minor league depth, but Colvin decided to pursue opportunities elsewhere. It's possible he'll be able to catch on somewhere as a bench bat.

Marlins signed OF Tyler Colvin to a minor league contract.

He'll be invited to spring training. Colvin appeared in 57 games with the Giants in 2014, hitting just .223/.268/.381 with a pair of homers and 18 RBI. The 29-year-old will compete for a reserve job in spring training.

Tyler Colvin has elected free agency.

The 29-year-old appeared in 57 games with the Giants in 2014, hitting just .223/.268/.381 with a pair of homers and 18 RBI. There's still enough pop in this left-handed bat that other teams will be willing to give him an opportunity.

Giants sent OF Tyler Colvin outright to Triple-A Fresno.

Colvin has hit only .223/.268/.381 at the big league level this season. He'll stick around as depth.

Giants designated OF Tyler Colvin for assignment.

Colvin has hit only .223/.268/.381 at the big league level this season. He should be able to find work in short order but is no safe bet to see time in the majors again in 2014.

Giants optioned OF Tyler Colvin to Triple-A Fresno.

It was reported that Colvin was given his release by the club, but it turns out the team just sent him down instead. Colvin is hitting .223/.268/.381 this season and could be recalled by the club in September.

Tyler Colvin went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Colvin scored the first run of the game and he added an RBI single in the sixth inning. The 28-year-old also stole his first base of the season. Colvin's playing time may be cut into when Brandon Belt returns in a few weeks, but he should continue to get a few starts per week until then.

Tyler Colvin went 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk against the Nationals on Thursday.

Colvin is known for his power, but he has just one homer in 71 at-bats for the Giants this season. Fortunately, he has contributed nine doubles and two triples, making him a somewhat useful piece as a part-time player with Brandon Belt out. He shouldn't have any fantasy value once Belt returns.

Tyler Colvin finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in a 6-4 win against the Marlins on Thursday.

Colvin has blistered the ball in sporadic playing time since his Saturday promotion. He's 6-for-13 (.462) with three doubles, a triple, a homer, three RBI and three runs scored. Colvin is an extremely streaky hitter with direct access to playing time with Mike Morse having shifted to first to cover for Brandon Belt. If he keeps raking, he'll keep playing, and on that chance alone, NL-only owners might want to make a speculation add here. The name Tyler Colvin is radioactive to some fantasy owners, but keep in mind he has a .460 career MLB slugging percentage, has slugged .500 or more in over 350 at-bats twice, and is still only 28.

Tyler Colvin finished the two easy wheels short of the cycle Monday, going 2-for-3 with a triple and homer in a 4-2 win against the Braves.

A San Francisco legend is born. Colvin scored two runs and knocked in three. The veteran outfielder is a long-time fantasy bust, but NL-only owners might want to sniff around the streaky hitter with pop. With Mike Morse having shifted to first base to cover the disabled Brandon Belt, left field at-bats are there for the taking. Colvin will have to share those for now.

Giants purchased the contract of OF Tyler Colvin from Triple-A Fresno.

Colvin is in Los Angeles with the team and will be active for Saturday's game against the Dodgers. The 28-year-old outfielder was hitting .267/.315/.408 with two homers and 16 RBI through 35 games at Fresno. He'll provide additional depth while Brandon Belt is sidelined.

Giants optioned OF Tyler Colvin to Triple-A Fresno.

Colvin had a good chance to make the team as a reserve infielder/outfielder, but the 28-year-old batted just .212 in Cactus League play. He'll report to Triple-A and could find himself back in San Francisco later this year.

Tyler Colvin went 2-for-4 with a solo home run as the Giants fell to the Angels 11-4 on Monday.

Colvin took Kevin Jepsen deep for a solo shot in the eighth inning, his second of the spring. Colvin is battling Juan Perez to be the club's fifth outfielder. CSN Bay Area's Andrew Baggarly suggests the club should choose Perez over Colvin for multiple reasons including Perez's comparatively good spring and defensive prowess, as well as Colvin's lingering back issues.

Giants signed OF Tyler Colvin to a minor league contract.

The deal includes an invitation to major league spring training. The 28-year-old outfielder spent the majority of the 2013 campaign at Triple-A Colorado Springs where he slashed .275/.377/.480 with nine homers, 32 RBI and six steals in 67 games. He'll compete for a reserve role in the Giants outfield.
