Royals signed INF Jason Donald to a minor league contract.

He'll presumably receive an invitation to spring training as well. The 29-year-old spent the entire 2013 season at Triple-A Louisville where he struggled to the tune of .219/.268/.319 with two homers and 17 RBI in 78 games.

Reds designated INF Jason Donald for assignment.

Donald has batted just .257/.309/.362 during parts of three major league seasons, but he's versatile and hit pretty well in the minors, so someone could scoop him up off waivers. Cesar Izturis made the Opening Day roster over him.

Jason Donald said Monday that his knee feels "awesome."

Donald sat out this weekend with a minor knee sprain. He will get at-bats in a minor league game on Monday and should be perfectly fine for the start of the season.

Jason Donald (wrist) is hoping to be available Friday.

Donald hasn't played since September 14 because of a bruised right wrist, but he made it through normal-intensity fielding and hitting drills on Wednesday. The infielder is batting .191/.234/.270 in 39 games this year.

It will be the first time he's done so since being hit by a Justin Verlander pitch earlier this month. Donald could be cleared to return to action if BP goes well.

Jason Donald, who was recalled by the Indians earlier in the day, blasted a solo home run in Thursday's 5-3 victory over the Red Sox.

Donald finished the night 1-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, two RBI and also stole a base. He got the Indians offense started with a bang, smashing a solo homer off Felix Doubront leading off the first inning. He's hitting a paltry .192 through his first 52 at-bats on the season and shouldn't be considered in all but the deepest of AL-only leagues.
