After making the Indians out of spring training, Morgan is 4-for-10 with four walks and two RBI through four games this season. Michael Bourn (hamstring) is slated to come off the disabled list soon, but the 33-year-old might be able to stick around as an extra outfielder.

Nyjer Morgan hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in Monday's 2-0 win over the Athletics.

After spending last season in Japan, Morgan made the Indians out of spring training and started in center field and batted leadoff on Opening Day. His sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning broke a scoreless tie. Michael Bourn (hamstring) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as this weekend, so Morgan might not be around for long.

Indians purchased the contract of OF Nyjer Morgan from Triple-A Columbus.

Morgan hit only .208/.333/.292 this spring, but with Michael Bourn (hamstring) out the Indians need some help in center field. The fiery outfielder should see plenty of playing time versus righties while Bourn is out and might be worth a look in deep fantasy formats.

Nyjer Morgan has made the Indians' Opening Day roster.

Morgan was given the good news Monday by manager Terry Francona and will open the season as a backup at all three outfield spots. He's not fantasy-relevant.

Nyjer Morgan swiped his second base of the Cactus League season and scored a run in a losing effort against the Angels on Sunday.

The 33-year-old outfielder finished the afternoon 0-for-2 with a walk, lowering his spring average to .219. With Michael Bourn's status for Opening Day uncertain, Morgan still has a chance to crack the Tribe's roster to begin the season.

Nyjer Morgan (calf) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday.

Morgan suffered a calf injury over the weekend but has made a quick recovery. With Michael Bourn's (calf) status up in the air, Morgan could have a shot a roster spot.

Nyjer Morgan (calf) still awaits medical clearance to return to Cactus League action.

Nyjer Morgan singled, doubled, and drove in two runs in three at-bats on Thursday.

Morgan is hoping to join the Indians when they break camp as a back-up outfielder after spending last year in Japan. Morgan walked in the fifth, hit an RBI double in the sixth, and hit an RBI single in the seventh.

Indians signed OF Nyjer Morgan to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Morgan is now back in the states after batting .294/.361/.434 with 11 homers, 50 RBI and three stolen bases in 108 games last season with the Yokohama DeNa BayStars of Japan’s Central League. The Indians are already pretty loaded with left-handed hitting outfielders, so the 33-year-old is no lock to crack the Opening Day roster.

Jan 4 - 2:19 PM

Nyjer Morgan has signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract with Japan's Yokohama DeNA BayStars.

Morgan failed to attract much interest from major league teams this offseason after batting just .239/.302/.308 in 122 games last summer for Milwaukee. He probably would have had to accept a minor league contract (and invitation to spring training) to remain in the states.
