Engel Beltre has been added to major league camp with the White Sox.

Beltre will take the place of Michael Taylor, who has retired. The 24-year-old missed the entire 2014 season after a fractured right tibia in March and required surgery on his left leg last September. He's likely to begin 2015 in the minors.

Beltre dealt with injuries to both of his legs this season and had a rod inserted into his left leg last month. The 24-year-old appeared in 22 game with the Rangers in 2013. He can become a minor league free agent after the World Series.

Beltre suffered a fractured right tibia in March and now it's his left leg that needs a major repair. The 24-year-old appeared in only 14 minor league games this season. He was once considered a top prospect.

Beltre left a rehab game with the Arizona League Rangers over the weekend due to soreness in his surgically-repaired right leg. It's not clear at this point how significant of a setback it is, but obviously more will be known after the exam.

It could be a lengthy rehab process. Beltre, 24, batted .292/.340/.398 with seven home runs and 15 stolen bases in 94 games last season at Triple-A Round Rock. He's not really considered a top prospect anymore.
