Hector Gomez tested negative for a concussion.
Gomez left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals after going head-first into the stands while trying to track down a foul pop-up. He remained in the stands for several minutes as trainers carefully attended to him, but Gomez was eventually able to walk back to the Brewers' dugout under his own power. Consider him day-to-day. Hector Gomez left Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals with an apparent head injury.

It was a scary looking situation, as Gomez hit a side wall at full speed while chasing a pop-up and launched himself into the stands head-first. He eventually got to his feet and walked off on his own, but it seems likely that the Brewers will put him through possible concussion tests.
Jun 3 - 3:40 PM

Hector Gomez tripled and doubled against the White Sox on Wednesday.

It was nearly a Gomez cycle, as Carlos hit a grand slam for the Brewers. Neither player could come up with a single, though. Gomez, filling in for the injured Jean Segura tonight, has five extra-base hits in 28 at-bats this month. Unfortunately, he also has a 9/0 K/BB ratio and a 17/1 K/BB in 58 at-bats for the year. A lack of on-base skills are a big part of what held him back as a prospect.
May 13 - 11:32 PM

Hector Gomez went 2-for-3 with a triple and a solo home run Monday in a victory over the Dodgers.

Gomez tripled and scored the Brewers' first run in the sixth inning, then hit a solo home run in the eighth off of Clayton Kershaw in what became a three-run inning. Gomez got the start at shortstop as Jean Segura was hit in the helmet on Sunday. Gomez is batting .250/.286/.450 in 44 plate appearances.
May 4 - 10:18 PM

Hector Gomez is starting at second base for the Brewers on Monday night against the Reds.

Scooter Gennett is due to miss some time after slicing open his hand in the shower after Sunday's game. Gomez has three doubles in 11 at-bats this season, but the 27-year-old isn't a great fantasy option.
Apr 20 - 3:59 PM

Hector Gomez went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's Cactus League loss to the Rangers.

After replacing starter Scooter Gennett, Gomez had an RBI single in the fifth inning before belting a two-run homer in the seventh. The 27-year-old batted .282/.325/.483 with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate in 2014, and he could secure a bench job in Milwaukee with a strong spring.
Mar 7 - 6:20 PM

Brewers purchased the contract of INF Hector Gomez from Triple-A Nashville.

Gomez, 26, batted .282/.325/.483 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI over 121 games this season in Triple-A. He'll provide some middle infield depth this month.

Brewers re-signed INF Hector Gomez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Gomez hit just .196/.238/.255 in 406 plate appearances this past season at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old Dominican shortstop was once regarded as a fairly promising prospect, but that's all over now.

Hector Gomez suffered a serious groin injury recently during Dominican Winter League play and could miss much of the 2013 season.

"He will probably have surgery in the next couple of days," said Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash. "He has had a history of groin injuries and it flared up again. We just don't know the extent of it. Is it a fourth-month (absence) or eight months?" Gomez, 24, was claimed off waivers from the Rockies in June and had been slated to start the season at Double-A.

Brewers signed INF Hector Gomez to a minor league contract.

He'll also get an invite to spring training. Gomez, who was claimed off waivers from the Rockies in June, was outrighted off the Brewers' 40-man roster earlier this month.

Brewers sent INF Hector Gomez outright to Triple-A Nashville.

The move clears him from the 40-man roster. The 24-year-old was once considered a promising prospect, but the Rockies gave up on him in June and he was limited to just 23 games at the High-A level this season due to injury.

Brewers recalled SS Hector Gomez from High-A Brevard County.

Gomez was once very highly thought of, but he's battled injuries the last few years and batted an ugly .105/.179/.211 in 23 games as a 24-year-old at the High-A level this season. Needless to say, he's not close to being major league-ready.

Brewers claimed INF Hector Gomez off waivers from the Rockies; optioned him to High-A Brevard County.

Gomez, 24, was once considered a top prospect, but injuries have limited him to just 216 games since the start of the 2008 season. The Brewers will hope for better luck.

The Rockies have placed Hector Gomez on waivers.

Gomez is often injured and owns a weak .306 career on-base percentage in the minor leagues, but he's just 24 years old and could draw interest from other teams.
Tue, Jun 26, 2012 11:44:00 PM

Rockies transferred INF Hector Gomez from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot for Wil Nieves on the 40-man roster. Gomez hasn't played all season due to a groin injury.
