Marlins purchased the contract of OF Cole Gillespie from Triple-A New Orleans.
Gordon, of course, just got popped with a PED suspension. Gillespie will need to be added to the 40-man roster, but they have an extra spot now because Gordon won't take up a spot during his 80-game suspension. Gillespie is a career .253/.309/.366 hitter over 427 plate appearances at the major league level. Apr 29 - 1:43 PM

Marlins designated OF Cole Gillespie for assignment.

Gillespie fared well in his opportunity with the Fish last season, but they've opted not to include him on their Opening Day roster. He could clear waivers.

Cole Gillespie went 2-for-2 with a walk on Wednesday and is 5-for-8 this spring.

Gilespie did a great job in his 145 at-bats for the Marlins last year, hitting .290/.333/.428. That was good enough to keep him on the 40-man roster all winter. However, with Ichiro re-signed and Derek Dietrich needing the occasional start in the outfield, too, it's hard to see a role for Gillespie on this year's team. He'd have made more sense had Suzuki been cut loose.
Mar 9 - 4:54 PM

Cole Gillespie went 1-for-4 with a solo home run as the Marlins blanked the Braves to win on Monday.

Gillespie's homer off of Shelby Miller was the only hit that mattered, as it broke a scoreless tie in the second inning. Though he's fallen back into a bench role for the most part, Gillespie's numbers remain strong, carrying a .301/.347/.451 batting line with two home runs and 14 RBI in 144 plate appearances.

Cole Gillespie went 2-for-4 with a triple, run scored and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Brewers.

Gillespie got the scoring started with a three-run triple in the first inning, his second triple of the season. The multi-hit game was the sixth for Gillespie in his last nine games. Gillespie is now batting .319/.366/.460 through 40 games.

Cole Gillespie went 2-for-4 in Friday's loss to the Cardinals.

Gillespie was the only Marlin to notch a multi-hit game on Friday. With the two singles, he's now batting .317/.364/.455 with a homer and nine RBI over 101 at-bats. He's proven to be a productive player when he's in the lineup this season, though he shouldn't be relied on for fantasy purposes.

Cole Gillespie went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's loss to the Braves.

Gillespie notched his RBI with a double in the second inning and an infield single in the third. The Marlins failed to crack the scoring column beyond those two hits. Over 84 at-bats this season, the 31-year-old outfielder is hitting .274/.319/.429 with one home run, nine RBI and three steals. He doesn't see enough playing time for fantasy relevance, but the numbers are respectable enough when he's in the lineup.

Marlins purchased the contract of OF Cole Gillespie from Triple-A New Orleans.

The 31-year-old will provide the Marlins with additional depth in the outfield with Giancarlo Stanton on the disabled list. He owns an uninspiring .230/.295/.329 slash line over 243 career at-bats at the big league level.

Marlins sent OF Cole Gillespie outright to Triple-A New Orleans.

Gillespie could have elected free agency but has decided to remain in the organization. He's hit .230/.295/.329 over parts of four seasons in the minors.

Marlins signed OF Cole Gillespie to a minor league contract.

Gillespie had a cup of coffee with the Blue Jays this past season, batting .357/.436/.584 across four minor league levels between the Jays and the Mariners. The former third-round pick has struggled to gain much traction in the majors, but he could get a shot with the Marlins.

Blue Jays sent OF Cole Gillespie outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Gillaspie has been sidelined since early July with a strained oblique. The 30-year-old is hitting .243/.300/.311 with a homer and five RBI in 35 games at the big league level this season.

Blue Jays placed OF Cole Gillespie on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 7, with a strained oblique.

The injury comes at a bad time, as the Blue Jays were planning to use Gillespie regularly in the DH spot versus lefties. He figures to be sidelined through the end of July.

Cole Gillespie is not in Tuesday's lineup due to a rib cage issue.

It's poor timing for Gillespie, as the Blue Jays were planning to use him regularly in the DH spot versus lefties. There's no word yet on how long he might be out. Dioner Navarro will be the DH instead Tuesday.

Blue Jays claimed OF Cole Gillespie off waivers from the Mariners.

The 30-year-old outfielder hit .254/.312/.324 with a homer and five RBI in his 71 at-bats with the Mariners. He's expected to function in a reserve outfielder role for the Blue Jays.
