Shane Robinson underwent season-ending surgery on Thursday to repair a slightly separated left shoulder.

Robinson injured the shoulder on an awkward slide into second base on Tuesday. His season concludes with an ugly .150/.227/.200 batting line over 47 games. Robinson will be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter.

Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says that Robinson "was in serious pain," so a trip to the DL appears to be a given. The outfielder was injured on Monday on an awkward slide into second base.

Robinson slid awkwardly into second base on an attempted steal and appeared to hurt his left elbow. He eventually walked off with assistance from the Cardinals' trainer. The Cards will update his status before long.

Robinson tied the game up at two apiece with a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning, ending Wade Miley's shutout quest. Robinson was recalled prior to Wednesday's game and went hitless in his only at-bat, playing in right field. He entered Thursday's affair batting .095 and exits at .200. Not bad for a night's work.
