Indians signed OF Shane Robinson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Robinson batted just .250/.299/.322 in 197 plate appearances this summer for the Twins and he owns a brutal .237/.302/.313 slash line for his career. But the 31-year-old is a versatile defender in the outfield and he might have a decent shot at an Opening Day roster spot in Cleveland, where Michael Brantley (shoulder) is likely to miss the first month of the 2016 season. According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Twins are interested in bringing back Shane Robinson.

Robinson was sent outright to Triple-A Rochester on October 21 and subsequently elected free agency. Most of his value stems from his defense, as the 31-year-old outfielder slashed just .250/.299/.322 with no homers and 16 RBI across 83 games (180 at-bats) with the Twins in 2014. Regardless of whether he ends up back with the Twins or on a different team, he'll likely be serving a bench role once more in 2016.

Shane Robinson has elected free agency.

The 31-year-old outfielder appeared in 83 games in a reserve role with the Twins, slashing .250/.299/.322 with no homers and 16 RBI. With very little power or speed, he'll have to rely primarily on his defensive prowess to compete for a bench spot on another squad this coming spring.
Oct 31 - 1:06 PM

Twins sent OF Shane Robinson outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Robinson's eligible for free agency if he opts not to accept the assignment. The 30-year-old outfielder saw a decent amount of time with the big league club this season, hitting .250/.299/.322 with seven doubles, three triples, 16 RBI and six steals over the course of 180 at-bats.
Oct 21 - 4:35 PM

Twins activated OF Shane Robinson from the 7-day family emergency list.

Robinson's daughter had to undergo an operation over the weekend. He should get some at-bats in center field for the Twins.
Jul 6 - 4:11 PM

Twins placed OF Shane Robinson on the 7-day family emergency list.

He'll return to the club next week. Aaron Hicks has taken Robinson's spot on the roster.
Jul 3 - 11:41 AM

Shane Robinson left Wednesday's game against the Reds after being hit on the left elbow by a pitch.

Robinson stayed in to run the bases after being pelted by the Johnny Cueto offering, but he appeared to be in a lot of pain so it's no surprise he eventually exited. It's unclear whether he'll need to have X-rays.
Jul 1 - 2:19 PM

Shane Robinson was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup due to the flu.

He should be fine in a day or two. Danny Santana took Robinson's spot in the lineup and played center field, while Eddie Rosario moved over to left.
Jun 30 - 9:31 PM

Twins activated OF Shane Robinson from the family emergency list.

He has rejoined the team and will be active on Saturday. He remains nothing more than a reserve outfielder.
May 16 - 11:31 AM

Aaron Hicks will take his place on the roster. Robinson can remain on the family emergency list for three to seven days.
May 12 - 11:59 AM

Twins purchased the contract of OF Shane Robinson from Triple-A Rochester.

Robinson made the Twins' Opening Day roster by going 13-for-46 (.283) in 17 games this spring in the Grapefruit League. The 30-year-old can play all around the outfield defensively, but he's a .231/.303/.308 career hitter at the major league level. There is no fantasy relevance here.
Apr 2 - 3:39 PM

Twins manager Paul Molitor indicated Saturday that Shane Robinson will make the Opening Day roster.

Robinson is expected to platoon in center field with Jordan Schafer to begin the season. The 30-year-old is a career .231/.303/.308 hitter in 402 big league at-bats, so his fantasy value is minimal outside of the deepest AL-only formats.
Mar 28 - 10:41 AM

Twins signed OF Shane Robinson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

The Cardinals released Robinson in mid-November so they could avoid giving him a raise via salary arbitration. The 30-year-old is a good defensive outfielder, but he batted just .231/.303/.308 in five seasons with St. Louis. He'll be organizational outfield depth for Minnesota.

Cardinals released OF Shane Robinson.

Robinson was first-time arbitration eligible this winter, making him an obvious non-tender candidate. With the addition of Jason Heyward, that sealed the 30-year-old's fate. Robinson may be able to find a major league deal to serve as a reserve outfielder elsewhere.
Tue, Nov 18, 2014 07:44:00 PM

Cardinals activated OF Shane Robinson from the 60-day disabled list.

Robinson was forced to go under the knife in late August to repair a separated left shoulder. The 30-year-old hit a paltry .150/.227/.200 in 60 at-bats with the Cardinals in 2014. He'll head into spring training looking to secure a role as a reserve outfielder.
