According to the Japanese website Sponichi, the the Softbank Hawks are trying to lure left-hander Renyel Pinto to Japan.

Pinto didn't pitch professionally this past season, but currently has a 2.55 ERA and 72/32 K/BB ratio over 77 2/3 innings with Caribes de Anzoategui in the Venezuelan Winter League. The 29-year-old southpaw has also drawn interest from the Orioles this offseason. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2010 as a member of the Marlins.

According to MASN's Roch Kubatko, the Orioles are interested in signing left-hander Renyel Pinto.

The O's have scouted Pinto over the past week in the Venezuela Winter League, and director of international operations David Stockstill met with him recently. The southpaw is likely to accept a minor league deal.

Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post reports that left-handed reliever Renyel Pinto is close to signing a contract with the Cardinals.

Pinto was released by the Marlins last week despite a strong 2.81 ERA in 16 2/3 innings of relief. The Cards have lefties Dennys Reyes and Trever Miller in their 'pen, but could use Pinto as more of a middle reliever or setup man. His numbers against right-handers are typically adequate.

The Marlins and LHP Renyel Pinto avoided arbitration Monday by agreeing to a one-year, $1.075 million contract.

The financial terms have not yet been disclosed, but Pinto is surely looking at a raise. The southpaw posted a 3.23 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 58/45 K/BB ratio in 61 1/3 innings last season while earning the league minimum.

Pinto will spend the weekend with Jupiter and then head to Triple-A New Orleans. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel expects Pinto to return to the Marlins for the start of the next homestand on June 19.
