Blue Jays signed LHP Juan Perez to a minor league contract.

He received an invite to spring training. Perez was outrighted off the 40-man roster hours earlier on Tuesday, but Toronto brought him back quickly. The 35-year-old southpaw has logged a 3.92 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 43 2/3 frames in limited action at the big league level the past three seasons. Perez has proven that he can be competent in low-leverage situations when needed.

Blue Jays sent LHP Juan Perez outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Perez declared for free agency. The left-hander has actually been productive in an extremely limited sample size over the past three seasons, posting a 3.92 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 43 2/3 innings for three different organizations (Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Toronto). He'll find a new team with whom he'll attempt to crack a bullpen in spring training. At age 35, Perez will have to settle for a minor league deal and likely hang around on the farm again until injuries hit the big league squad.

Blue Jays placed LHP Juan Perez on the 15-day disabled list with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.

Perez suffered the injury in Friday's game and will likely be sidelined for the remainder of the season and part of 2014. The Blue Jays have recalled Mickey Storey to replace him on the active roster.

Juan Perez will head for further testing after being removed from Friday's game with an undisclosed elbow injury.

Blue Jays skipper John Gibbons didn't sound very optimistic about the prognosis, hinting that the injury could be of the season-ending variety. If that's the case, it's a disappointing end to the season for the 34-year-old.

Juan Perez was removed from Friday's game against the Athletics with an apparent injury.

Perez worked 1 2/3 innings of relief, surrendering five runs on four hits and a pair of walks. He was shaking his hand after delivering his 55th and final pitch of the evening, and was replaced by Sergio Santos. The team should have an update on his status after completion of the game.

Juan Perez threw a bullpen session Monday for the first time since being hospitalized for a collapsed lung two weeks ago.

"He threw a bullpen [Monday] -- it went real well, and he's accelerating fast," said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke. "He had a smile on his face and he felt good." Perez, a non-roster invitee, is scheduled to throw another side session Thursday and Roenicke said it's still "to be determined" whether the 33-year-old southpaw has a chance at making the Opening Day roster.

Juan Perez is still in the hospital, recovering from a partially collapsed left lung.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Tuesday that he's not sure when Perez will be able to resume throwing. The lefty seems unlikely to crack the Brewers' Opening Day roster, no matter how quickly he's able to recover.

Juan Perez was hospitalized Sunday morning with a partially collapsed left lung.

Perez was in consideration for the bullpen as a non-roster invitee, but is now looking at missing extended time this spring. "It's a tough break for him," manager Ron Roenicke said. "He was throwing the ball great. You always feel for the guy when he's doing that well and he's got a chance and then something happens."
