Rockies signed INF Tug Hulett to a minor league contract.

Mariners signed INF Tug Hulett to a minor league contract.

He was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma. Hulett was released by the Red Sox after being designated for assignment earlier this month. He was batting .201 with four home runs and 29 RBI in 284 at-bats with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Red Sox designated infielder Tug Hulett for assignment.

Hulett can hit a little, but since he's not much of a shortstop, he hasn't been tried as a utilityman while the Red Sox have dealt with their infield injuries. Time will tell if anyone will pick him up off waivers.

Red Sox sent INF Tug Hulett outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.

The roster move will open a spot on the team's 40-man roster. Hulett, who was acquired from the Royals over the winter, is batting .175/.307/.311 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 212 at-bats with the PawSox this season.

Red Sox optioned INF Tug Hulett to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Hulett was impressive this spring, batting .286/.345/.510 and led the team with 16 RBI, however he was doubtful to crack the roster given the presence of Mike Lowell. Hulett or Kevin Frandsen will likely be the first infielders to get a look if the Red Sox are finally able to unload him.

Tug Hulett had a pair of RBI doubles and a walk Tuesday as the Red Sox and Rays played to a 9-9 tie.

Hulett tied it up in the top of the ninth with a shot down the right-field line. He's hitting .295 with two homers, six doubles and 15 RBI in 44 at-bats this spring as he attempts to win a bench job. The Red Sox would only have room for him if Mike Lowell gets traded or goes on the DL.

Red Sox acquired IF Tug Hulett from the Royals for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Hulett was designated for assignment by the Royals last week. The 26-year-old infielder was 2-for-18 (.111) in 15 games with the Royals last season, but batted .291/.384/.473 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI in 374 at-bats with Triple-A Omaha. Along with his solid on-base skills, he adds some nice versatility to the organization.

Royals designated infielder Tug Hulett for assignment.

The Royals cut Hulett to make room on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old infielder spent most of the season at Triple-A Omaha, but batted .111/.158/.111 with one RBI in 18 at-bats with the big club. Hulett hasn't done much at the major league level, but he has shown good on-base skills while playing all over the diamond in the minors.

Royals recalled infielder Tug Hulett from Triple-A Omaha.

Hulett helped the United States retain their World Cup title with a home run in Sunday's 10-5 victory over Cuba. He hit .291/.384/.473 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI in 99 games this season for Omaha.

Royals optioned infielder Tug Hulett to Triple-A Omaha.

The move cleared way for John Buck, who will be activated from the disabled list before Monday's game against the Tigers. Hulett was hitting .307/.388/.475 with four home runs and 34 RBI in 179 at-bats for Omaha, but managed just a single in 14 at-bats with the Royals.

Royals recalled infielder Tug Hulett from Triple-A Omaha.

Hulett spent a short time with the Royals in late May and went hitless in four at-bats. He'll probably struggle to find playing time again. The 26-year-old infielder was batting .307/.388/.475 with four home runs and 34 RBI in 179 at-bats for Omaha.

Royals optioned infielder Tug Hulett to Triple-A Omaha.

Hulett was hitless in four at-bats with the Royals after being recalled on May 23. He'll head back to Triple-A, where he will be able to find a greater amount of at-bats.

Royals recalled infielder Tug Hulett from Triple-A Omaha.

The Royals were desperate for infield depth after Mike Aviles hit the disabled list with a forearm issue. Hulett will provide just that, but he's not going to be a fantasy asset. He was given just nine at-bats this spring.

Royals optioned INF Tug Hulett and RHP Carlos Rosa to Triple-A Omaha; optioned SS Mario Lisson to Double-A Northwest Arkansas; reassigned C John Suomi, OF Derrick Robinson and 3B Corey Smith to the minor league camp.

If the 26-year-old Hulett, who was claimed off waivers from the Mariners last month, can't even outlast Tony Pena Jr., then it doesn't look like he has a future in the Royals organization. The team was without both Mike Aviles and Mark Teahen and he still got just nine at-bats this spring.
