Date:

Felix Doubront (foot) will have his next start pushed back until Monday.

He had been scheduled to work against the D'Backs on Saturday, but the A's want to play things cautiously and give his foot a couple of extra days to heal. Aaron Brooks was recalled from Triple-A and will start in his place on Saturday.
Aug 29 - 8:33 AM

Felix Doubront (foot) has been cleared for his next scheduled start on Saturday in Arizona.

Doubront exited Monday's outing after just two innings due to a right foot contusion, but he ran and threw without issue Wednesday. The left-hander holds a 2.41 ERA over 18 2/3 innings since joining the A's.
Aug 26 - 2:26 PM

Felix Doubront (foot) will be re-evaluated on Wednesday before a decision is made on whether he can make his next start.

Doubront left Monday's outing after just two innings due to a right foot contusion. He's still limping on Tuesday but said the foot is feeling much better. We'll know soon whether the A's will have to find another fill-in starter.
Aug 25 - 8:27 PM

Felix Doubront left Monday's start against the Mariners after just two innings due to a right foot contusion.

Doubront was hit by a Robinson Cano liner in the first inning. He gutted it out through another frame but was in too much pain to continue. It's unclear whether Doubront will undergo an X-ray.
Aug 24 - 11:20 PM

Felix Doubront held the Dodgers to an unearned run over six innings, but got a no-decision as the Athletics needed 10 innings to win 5-4 on Tuesday.

Doubront went toe-to-toe with Clayton Kershaw and nearly came out a winner. The Dodgers' only run came in during the second inning on a Jimmy Rollins ground out. The lefty allowed only one hit and struck out eight, but walked six batters. Doubront, who's been a journeyman over the last two seasons, carries a 3.89 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and a 26/14 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings. It's not known yet if the Athletics will give him another start, but if they do, he's on track to face the Mariners in Seattle next.
Aug 19 - 2:05 AM

Felix Doubront is expected to join the Athletics' rotation on either Monday or Tuesday.

Sonny Gray is hoping to return from a back injury on Monday, which means Doubront is likely to start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers. Doubront has bounced around, beginning the year with the Cubs in spring training and getting another chance in Toronto before joining the A's at the trade deadline. The journeyman left-hander can probably be ignored for fantasy purposes.
Aug 15 - 6:06 PM

Felix Doubront pitched 6 1/3 innings of relief Wednesday, allowing two runs against the Blue Jays.

It's the second longest relief appearance of the year, behind Vidal Nuno's 6 2/3-inning outing for the Diamondbacks in May. One can argue the Jays weren't trying very hard with their huge lead, but for a lefty to hold them to two runs in 6 1/3 is an accomplishment.
Aug 12 - 10:55 PM

Athletics acquired LHP Felix Doubront from the Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.

Doubront had been designated for assignment earlier this week. He's been added to the major league roster, though it's unclear if he'll be used as a starter or reliever.
Jul 31 - 3:40 PM

Blue Jays designated LHP Felix Doubront for assignment.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Troy Tulowitzki. Doubront pitched well in his first start with the Jays but wasn't so good his last three times out.
Jul 29 - 2:32 PM

Felix Doubront lasted only four innings, allowing three runs as the Blue Jays were defeated on Tuesday by the Phillies.

All three runs came in the fifth inning, as the Phillies used an infield single and three doubles to plate two runs and chase Doubront out of the game. The lefty gave up six hits and a pair of walks while striking out three. Doubront has made only four starts this season, but only one of them was passable. He has a 4.76 ERA, a 1.63 WHIP, and a 13/5 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings. He will take on the Royals at home in his next outing.
Jul 28 - 9:57 PM

Felix Doubront surrendered three runs -- two earned -- across 4 2/3 frames in Wednesday's no-decision loss to the A's.

He walked two and struck out one in the shaky outing. Doubront's three starts have gone like this: Great, horrific and meh. Tonight's meh outing ended after 92 pitches. If he gets another turn in the rotation, Doubront (4.34 ERA) will toe the rubber next week against Philadelphia.
Jul 23 - 2:02 AM

Felix Doubront was thumped for seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits over five innings in earning a no-decision against the Royals on Sunday.

Six of the seven runs against Doubront scored in the bottom of the first inning, when he allowed four run-scoring hits. The biggest of those was a three-run homer by Kendrys Morales. The southpaw fooled nobody on the afternoon and struck out just two in the game. This was his second start of the season and went much worse than his first (he pitched 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball in his season debut against the White Sox). In Triple-A, he held a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings. While he struggled last season, Doubront does have some serviceable years under his belt and desperate owners in deeper leagues should keep an eye on the starter to see if he's able to find some sort of traction post-break, assuming the pitcher sees more time in the rotation.
Jul 12 - 5:41 PM

Felix Doubront limited the White Sox to one run over 6 2/3 innings in a win Tuesday.

Doubront, making his first start of the year and his first as a member of the Blue Jays, was terrific, scattering six hits and a walk while fanning six. Perhaps it wasn't entirely out of the blue after the southpaw posted a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings at Triple-A Buffalo to start the year. He almost certainly earned himself another turn in the rotation, with that start likely coming Sunday at the Royals heading into the break.
Jul 7 - 10:53 PM

Felix Doubront has officially been confirmed as the Blue Jays' starter on Tuesday in Chicago.

It had been the assumption that he was taking the ball as long as he wasn't need in relief the last couple days, and he was not. Doubront posted a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings at Triple-A Buffalo and allowed one run over 2 1/3 relief frames last Friday with the big club.
