Blue Jays designated LHP Felix Doubront for assignment.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Troy Tulowitzki. Doubront pitched well in his first start with the Jays but wasn't so good his last three times out.
Jul 29 - 2:32 PM

Felix Doubront lasted only four innings, allowing three runs as the Blue Jays were defeated on Tuesday by the Phillies.

All three runs came in the fifth inning, as the Phillies used an infield single and three doubles to plate two runs and chase Doubront out of the game. The lefty gave up six hits and a pair of walks while striking out three. Doubront has made only four starts this season, but only one of them was passable. He has a 4.76 ERA, a 1.63 WHIP, and a 13/5 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings. He will take on the Royals at home in his next outing.
Jul 28 - 9:57 PM

Felix Doubront surrendered three runs -- two earned -- across 4 2/3 frames in Wednesday's no-decision loss to the A's.

He walked two and struck out one in the shaky outing. Doubront's three starts have gone like this: Great, horrific and meh. Tonight's meh outing ended after 92 pitches. If he gets another turn in the rotation, Doubront (4.34 ERA) will toe the rubber next week against Philadelphia.
Jul 23 - 2:02 AM

Felix Doubront was thumped for seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits over five innings in earning a no-decision against the Royals on Sunday.

Six of the seven runs against Doubront scored in the bottom of the first inning, when he allowed four run-scoring hits. The biggest of those was a three-run homer by Kendrys Morales. The southpaw fooled nobody on the afternoon and struck out just two in the game. This was his second start of the season and went much worse than his first (he pitched 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball in his season debut against the White Sox). In Triple-A, he held a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings. While he struggled last season, Doubront does have some serviceable years under his belt and desperate owners in deeper leagues should keep an eye on the starter to see if he's able to find some sort of traction post-break, assuming the pitcher sees more time in the rotation.
Jul 12 - 5:41 PM

Felix Doubront limited the White Sox to one run over 6 2/3 innings in a win Tuesday.

Doubront, making his first start of the year and his first as a member of the Blue Jays, was terrific, scattering six hits and a walk while fanning six. Perhaps it wasn't entirely out of the blue after the southpaw posted a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings at Triple-A Buffalo to start the year. He almost certainly earned himself another turn in the rotation, with that start likely coming Sunday at the Royals heading into the break.
Jul 7 - 10:53 PM

Felix Doubront has officially been confirmed as the Blue Jays' starter on Tuesday in Chicago.

It had been the assumption that he was taking the ball as long as he wasn't need in relief the last couple days, and he was not. Doubront posted a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings at Triple-A Buffalo and allowed one run over 2 1/3 relief frames last Friday with the big club.
Jul 7 - 12:19 AM

Blue Jays purchased the contract of LHP Felix Doubront from Triple-A Buffalo.

The Jays need a fifth starter following the demotion of Matt Boyd, although it's unclear whether Doubront will immediately be thrust into the rotation. The left-hander has earned a shot with some nice work at Buffalo, where he's posted a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings.
Jul 3 - 12:37 PM

Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports that Felix Doubront is the "likeliest candidate" to be called up to serve as the Blue Jays' No. 5 starter.

The Jays had been considering skipping the fifth spot for a turn, but they now might give Drew Hutchison some extra rest after he threw a season-high 109 pitches in five innings Monday. Doubront, who was inked to a minor league deal just before Opening Day, holds a 2.85 ERA and 38/14 K/BB ratio over 41 innings for Triple-A Buffalo this season.

Jun 23 - 10:47 PM

Blue Jays signed LHP Felix Doubront to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Doubront was released by the Cubs on March 28 after allowing nine runs on 17 hits in seven Cactus League innings. The 27-year-old left-hander will serve as organizational rotation depth for the Blue Jays, who open the 2015 season with a mixed bag of very young and very old starting pitchers.
Apr 2 - 9:15 AM

Cubs released LHP Felix Doubront.

The veteran southpaw was knocked around in his seven spring innings, allowing nine runs on 17 hits. He will receive 45 days of termination pay from the Cubs, roughly equaling $473,000. He'll look to latch on elsewhere.
Mar 28 - 2:33 PM

Cubs and LHP Felix Doubront avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.925 million contract.

Doubront joined the Cubs at the end of July in a trade with the Red Sox. He finished the 2014 season with an aggregate 5.54 ERA with a 51/33 K/BB ratio in 79 2/3 innings. The lefty battled a shoulder injury with the Red Sox and a calf strain with the Cubs, limiting his playing time and his effectiveness. Still, Doubront has yet to find success close to 500 innings in the majors, but he's still 27 years old with some time left to prove himself. He can become a free agent after the 2017 season.
Jan 15 - 12:17 PM

Felix Doubront was rocked for six runs over just 2 1/3 innings Saturday against the Dodgers.

Doubront allowed six hits (including two home runs from Adrian Gonzalez) and was chased after giving up four runs in the third inning. He struck out two and walked two in the no-decision and now owns a 3.98 ERA and 8/6 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings over his first four starts with Chicago. He'll try to rebound when he makes his final start of the season next weekend against the Brewers.

Felix Doubront fired six scoreless innings Saturday in the Cubs' 6-4 victory over the Pirates.

Doubront struck out just one batter, but he held the Bucs to four hits and one walk over his six shutout frames. The 26-year-old left-hander has been sharp in all three of his starts since joining the Chicago rotation and suddenly looks like an intriguing fantasy option for the final two-plus weeks. Talent has never been an issue. De La Rosa faces the Orioles in Baltimore next.

Felix Doubront allowed just two runs over five innings but the Cubs fell to the Pirates on Saturday.

Doubront threw seven innings of one-run ball against the Cardinals in his Cubs debut last weekend and looked sharp again Saturday night at Wrigley Field. Maybe the 26-year-old left-hander is ready to right the ship after a rough end to his Red Sox tenure.
