Jonathan Herrera delivered a pinch-hit walkoff RBI single on Saturday, delivering the Red Sox a victory in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Herrera was called upon to hit for Jackie Bradley Jr. with the winning run at second base and one out after a David Ross sacrifice. Herrera wasted no time, lining the first pitch he saw for a single to right field, scoring Jonny Gomes with the game-winning run.

Jonathan Herrera went 1-for-4 and drove home a run in Sunday's loss to the Yankees.

Herrera's RBI single off Ivan Nova got the Yankees on the board in the second inning. He's sharing time at third base while Will Middlebrooks is on the disabled list, and it hitting .211/.318/.211. His already minimal fantasy value will be non-existent once Middlebrooks returns.

Jonathan Herrera is playing shortstop and batting eighth for the Red Sox in Monday's game against the Rangers.

Herrera starts for the third game in a row. However, Ryan Roberts is active for Monday's game, so the streak may end on Tuesday. Herrera has been filling in for the injured Will Middlebrooks.

Red Sox avoided arbitration with INF Jonathan Herrera by agreeing to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

Herrera was arbitration-eligible for the second time. The utilityman has hit .265/.325/.332 over parts of five seasons and will be a movable chess piece for John Farrell in 2014.

Red Sox acquired 2B Jonathan Herrera from the Rockies for LHP Franklin Morales and RHP Chris Martin.

Herrera has slashed a ho-hum .265/.325/.332 over 1,100-plus plate appearances the past five seasons in Colorado. The 29-year-old gives Boston a cheap utility infielder who plays outstanding defense at multiple positions for two more team-controlled years. He's not fantasy relevant.

Jonathan Herrera is batting .283/.327/.370 through 49 plate appearances.

If his slash numbers hold, Herrera will finish with the best offensive season of his career, topping the .694 OPS he mustered in 2010. Unfortunately, the utility infielder has scuffled in the field recently, recording three errors in his last 12 games.

Rockies and INF Jonathan Herrera avoided arbitration Wednesday by agreeing to a one-year, $900,000 contract.

The two sides settled at the midpoint of arbitration figures that were exchanged last week. Herrera was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter after batting .262/.317/.351 with three home runs, 12 RBI and a .688 OPS in 251 plate appearances in 2012. He figures to serve as a utility infielder for the Rockies in 2013.

Jonathan Herrera requested $1 million and was offered $800,000 from the Rockies when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday.

The 28-year-old utility infielder is arbitration eligible for the first time. A valuable contributor with the glove, he'll likely earn around $900,000 through the arbitration process.

Rockies activated INF Jonathan Herrera from the 15-day disabled list.

Herrera missed a little over two weeks with a staph infection in his left wrist. The 27-year-old was batting .246 with a .678 OPS in 45 games before hitting the shelf.

Jonathan Herrera (staph infection) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment.

The staph infection Herrera developed in his left wrist is much improved. He shouldn't need too many rehab appearances before rejoining the Rockies.

Rockies placed INF Jonathan Herrera on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 16, with an infection in his left wrist.

"He contracted some type of infection, I know they did a culture, but I don't know anything further than that," manager Jim Tracy said. "He went to the hospital around 2 a.m. this morning; he was very, very concerned about it." Herrera should be ready for activation when first eligible.

Jonathan Herrera went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in a win Saturday against the Rangers.

Six Rockies had at least two hits in the 11-7 victory. Herrera, activated from the DL Friday and batting leadoff, swiped his first two bags of the season and raised his average by 11 points, to .250. With Troy Tulowitzki out for the foreseeable future, Herrera could carve out enough at-bats to become relevant in deeper NL-only formats.

Rockies activated INF Jonathan Herrera from the 15-day disabled list.

His presence means Marco Scutaro won't have to carry the load completely at shortstop while Troy Tulowitzki (groin) is sidelined. Herrera originally landed on the disabled list with a hamstring strain a month ago, but his return was delayed due to right shoulder soreness.

Jonathan Herrera (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list either Friday or Saturday.

Herrera's return was delayed due to right shoulder soreness, but he's healthy now. He's expected to replace D.J. LeMahieu on the roster.
