SB Nation's Chris Cotillo is reporting that according to a source, Everett Teaford has cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Durham.

Teaford held some ugly numbers over 13 starts at Triple-A, where he posted a 5.56 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 46/18 K/BB ratio in 68 innings. In a pinch, the Rays might use him again this season, but his numbers aren't going to warrant much of a long stay.

Teaford didn't figure to be any sort of candidate to make the Rays out of spring training after signing in mid-January, but now he finds himself in the thick of the rotation competition with Alex Cobb, Drew Smyly and Alex Colome all out. The journeyman southpaw has a 2.79 ERA and a 7/1 K/BB ratio in 9 2/3 innings.
