Dodgers signed LHP Aaron Laffey to a minor league contract.
Laffey has been designated for assignment a couple times in the past week but has latched on with another organization quickly again. With the injuries in the Dodgers' rotation, it's a good landing spot for the lefty. He'll report to Triple-A Albuquerque for now. Apr 30 - 9:10 PM

Aaron Laffey has elected free agency.

Laffey cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Blue Jays this weekend, but he opted to refuse a minor league assignment. The 28-year-old southpaw has allowed 10 runs in 12 2/3 innings at the major league level this season, but it shouldn't take him too long to find a new home.
Apr 29 - 4:03 PM

Blue Jays designated LHP Aaron Laffey for assignment.

The move doesn't come as a total surprise, as Laffey looked absolutely abysmal in Friday's spot start against the Yankees. With Brad Lincoln able to operate in a similar role for the Blue Jays, there wasn't a clear need for Laffey on the roster. He'll likely latch on elsewhere, but may have to settle for a minor league deal.
Apr 26 - 10:53 PM

Aaron Laffey didn’t deliver the results the Blue Jays were looking for in a spot start against the Yankees on Friday, as he allowed two runs on two hits and five walks over 2 2/3 innings.

Laffey was pushed into emergency duty after Josh Johnson was scratched from his scheduled start, but struggled mightily to find the plate for the entirety of his outing. The swingman now owns a 7.11 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and 9/10 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings on the season. With Brad Lincoln operating in a similar role in the bullpen, he’ll need to improve the overall results soon or his roster spot could be in jeopardy.
Apr 26 - 10:35 PM

Aaron Laffey will make a spot start on Friday versus the Yankees in place of the injured Josh Johnson (triceps).

Laffey was designated for assignment by the Mets last weekend before being picked up off waivers by the Jays. He posted a 7.20 ERA over 10 innings of work for the Mets and makes for a poor fantasy option Friday.
Apr 26 - 9:17 AM

Blue Jays claimed LHP Aaron Laffey off waivers from the Mets.

Another day, another waiver claim by Alex Anthopoulos. Laffey was designated for assignment by the Mets over the weekend after he posted a 7.20 ERA over 10 innings of work. The 28-year-old posted a 4.56 ERA over 100 2/3 innings with the Jays last season and will presumably pitch in long relief.
Apr 23 - 2:59 PM

Mets designated LHP Aaron Laffey for assignment.

Laffey has struggled to a 7.20 ERA and 2.10 WHIP through 10 innings this season. Robert Carson was recalled to take his place in the bullpen. Teams are always desperate for left-handed relief pitching, so Laffey, 28, should catch on with another big league team.
Apr 21 - 10:16 AM

Aaron Laffey lasted just four innings Tuesday against the Rockies, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks.

He also hit opposing pitcher Jeff Francis with a pitch. Laffey needed 77 pitches to cover the four frames, but the good news is that the number was low enough to where the Mets can bring him back on short rest Saturday against the Nationals. With a 4.82 ERA and 1.93 WHIP, he can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
Apr 17 - 1:28 AM

Aaron Laffey is scheduled to start the second game of Tuesday's split-doubleheader against the Rockies.

There was some speculation that the Mets would skip Laffey following two straight postponements, but they'll stick with their regular rotation order. Of course, things could change if any of Tuesday's games are wiped out due to the weather.
Apr 16 - 8:50 AM

Aaron Laffey won't make his next start until next Tuesday against the Rockies.

The Mets have an off-day Thursday, which will enable them to go with Jonathon Niese, Matt Harvey and Dillon Gee this weekend against the Twins. Laffey gave up three runs on 10 hits and a walk over 4 1/3 innings Sunday against the Marlins and should get a few more chances since Shaun Marcum (neck) isn't close to returning from the disabled list. He isn't worth owning in fantasy leagues, though.
Apr 8 - 5:45 PM

Aaron Laffey escaped with a no-decision Sunday despite allowing three runs on 10 hits and a walk over 4 1/3 innings in a 4-3 victory over the Marlins.

Laffey did manage to strike out five, but the soft-tosser was hit early and often in this one. With Shaun Marcum likely to miss at least a couple more starts, Laffey should get at least one more shot. It's likely to come next weekend in Minnesota.
Apr 7 - 5:21 PM

Mets purchased the contract of LHP Aaron Laffey from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Laffey will serve as a fill-in starter for Shaun Marcum, who is having neck and shoulder problems. The left-hander may be worth streaming in some deep leagues.
Apr 6 - 4:53 PM

Aaron Laffey, who has worked exclusively out of the Mets bullpen this spring, will be stretched out and given a start in a Grapefruit League contest next week.

The idea behind it, is to give the team an insurance policy in the event that Johan Santana isn't ready for the start of the regular season. Of his 22 appearances with the Blue Jays in 2012, Laffey made 16 starts and posted a 4.56 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 48/37 K/BB ratio in 100 2/3 innings. His fantasy value is extremely limited.
Mar 15 - 10:40 PM

Mets signed LHP Aaron Laffey to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Laffey posted a 4.56 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 100 2/3 innings this past season for the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old southpaw could open the 2013 season in the Mets' rotation but seems doubtful to carry any fantasy value.

Aaron Laffey has opted to become a free agent.

Laffey registered a 4.56 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 100 2/3 innings this season with the Blue Jays. He'll presumably be in search of a one-year major league contract.
