Wesley Wright will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks after an MRI revealed inflammation in his left shoulder.
It's obviously good news that no structural damage was found, as he'll be able to rehab with rest rather than surgery. But, the left-hander will still be on the shelf for a while, with a return probably well into May looking like the best-case scenario. Apr 13 - 10:41 PM

Wesley Wright is scheduled to have his shoulder examined after reporting soreness following Friday's outing against the Blue Jays.

While it doesn't sound serious, no pitcher ever wants to deal with arm trouble. The Orioles should know more about his status Saturday.

Orioles signed LHP Wesley Wright to a one-year, $1.7 million contract.

Wright was non-tendered by the Cubs but quickly landed on his feet in Baltimore. The left-hander holds a 3.25 ERA while striking out nearly a batter per inning since the beginning of the 2011 season and should be a solid middle relief option for the Orioles.

Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports that the Orioles have agreed to a one-year contract with Wesley Wright.

There's no word yet on the financials of the deal. The O's had been on the lookout for left-handed relief help and Wright should do the job, as he holds a 3.25 ERA while striking out nearly a batter per inning since the beginning of the 2011 season.

The Cubs and LHP Wesley Wright have agreed to a one-year deal believed to be worth $1.425 million, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Rays non-tendered LHP Wesley Wright.

Wright was due for a raise to around $1.5 million in his second year of arbitration, which is more than the cost-conscious Rays were willing to spent. The southpaw holds a 3.28 ERA since 2011 and can be tough on lefties, so he'll get a job somewhere.

Rays acquired LHP Wesley Wright from the Astros for future cash considerations.

Wright will join the Rays' bullpen on Tuesday. The left-hander has posted a cool 3.56 ERA and 9.0 K/9 in 93 2/3 innings of relief since the start of the 2012 season and could be an asset for Tampa Bay down the stretch.

Wesley Wright holds a 2.95 ERA over 21 appearances.

Wright broke out in 2012, putting up a 3.27 ERA while striking out over a batter per inning. Over his first three seasons, batters teed off to the tune of a 5.33 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 134 games. In the last three years, Wright has turned into a fine LOOGY, posting a 2.94 ERA and 8.4/2.9 K/BB/9 rate. Owners in deep AL-only formats should note that Wright's WHIP this year (1.53) sits right around where it did during the dark years of his career. He's walking fewer batters then he ever has, but has surrendered 23 hits over 18 1/3 frames.
