Giants signed RHP Kevin Cameron to a minor league contract.
Cameron looked solid in 18 1/3 innings of relief last season for the A's, but they optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento in early June and he never resurfaced. The 30-year-old has a 3.02 career ERA in 86 1/3 major league innings and may crack the Giants' bullpen sometime this year. Tue, Jan 12, 2010 11:00:00 AM

Athletics optioned RHP Kevin Cameron to Triple-A Sacramento.

Cameron has pitched well with a 3.44 ERA and 1.145 WHIP in 18 1/3 innings, but the A's needed his roster spot for Tuesday's nights starter Vin Mazzaro. Cameron may have deserved a better fate, but manager Bob Geren said he prefers to have Edgar Gonzalez available to pitch multiple innings at a time.

Athletics recalled RHP Kevin Cameron from Triple-A Sacramento.

Cameron takes one of the roster spots opened up by Nomar Garciaparra and Mark Ellis hitting the DL. He had a 3.27 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 11 innings at Triple-A, but doesn't figure to play a prominent role in the A's bullpen.

Athletics reassigned RHP Kevin Cameron, RHP Jerome Williams, RHP James Simmons, INF Joe Dillon and OF Sean Doolittle to minor league camp; optioned RHP Ryan Webb, 3B Jeff Baisley, OF Javier Herrera and 2B-OF Eric Patterson to Triple-A Sacramento.

Brett Anderon, Trevor Cahill and Vin Mazzaro all get to stick around. Cameron looked like a legitimate candidate for the bullpen before the Russ Springer and Michael Wuertz additions. He allowed two earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. Williams, one of the long shots for the rotations, gave up four runs in nine innings.

Athletics signed RHP Kevin Cameron, first baseman Tagg Bozied and outfielder Matt Carson to minor league contracts and invited them to spring training.

Cameron had a 2.79 ERA in 58 innings for the Padres as a Rule 5 pick in 2007, but he got hurt early on in 2008 and struggled with his command when healthy. He still has a 2.91 ERA in 68 innings as a major leaguer, and he was clearly one of the top minor league free agents available. The A's will have him compete for a bullpen spot. The other two shouldn't have legitimate chances of making the team. Bozied, a former Padres prospect, hit .306/.382/.569 in Triple-A last season, but those were Albuquerque numbers. Carson had spent his entire career in the Yankee system.

Padres sent RHP Kevin Cameron, RHP Tim Stauffer and infielder Craig Stansberry outright to Triple-A Portland.

All three players passed through waivers unclaimed and the Padres now have eight open spots on their 40-man roster.

Padres reinstated RHP Kevin Cameron from the disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Portland.

Cameron has been out since early May with a sprained right elbow and the Padres apparently can't find room for him in the bullpen despite a 1.69 ERA in a dozen minor league outings and a 2.91 career ERA in 58 big league appearances.

An MRI revealed a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in Kevin Cameron's elbow Saturday, setting him back two to three weeks.

Cameron was placed on the disabled list May 7 with a first-degree elbow sprain. He was just about to start a throwing program, but now probably won't be ready until late June.

Padres placed RHP Kevin Cameron on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 7, with a first-degree right elbow sprain.

It's a tough loss for the Padres, as Cameron had been one of their better relievers. That it's a first-degree sprain means he could be back by the end of the month.

Kevin Cameron is DL bound after suffering a sprained UCL during Tuesday's game.

The Padres are calling in a first-degree sprain, so it's possible he'll return before the end of the month. Enrique Gonzalez could replace him in San Diego's bullpen.

Padres recalled RHP Kevin Cameron from Triple-A Portland.

Cameron should be an upgrade over Enrique Gonzalez in middle relief. Since he'll pitch in more close games than he did last year, he could have a little value in NL-only leagues.

Padres optioned RHP Kevin Cameron and INF Luis Rodriguez to Triple-A Portland.

Cameron had a shortened spring because of the fractured left thumb he surrendered earlier this month, and it didn't help his case that he had options left and Enrique Gonzalez didn't. Cameron is still the far better bet for the season, and he might have a chance to get his spot back by the end of April. Rodriguez's departure guarantees that Callix Crabbe will have a spot.

The Padres revealed that Kevin Cameron suffered a fractured thumb on his non-throwing hand during workouts on Wednesday.

Cameron was struck while walking in the outfield during batting practice. He threw a bullpen session Thursday with someone else catching return throws for him. Although he'll be able to keep his arm in shape, it's unclear when he'll return to game action. He's already missed time with a hamstring strain this spring, so he might begin the year on the DL.

In his first appearance this month, Kevin Cameron yielded two runs in an inning Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Cameron was set back by a mild hamstring pull last week.
Fri, Mar 7, 2008 06:30:00 PM

Kevin Cameron was unavailable Thursday because of a slight hamstring injury.

The middle reliever can throw on the side and could be ready to go by early next week.
