Jayson Nix went 2-for-3 with a double Friday in a loss to the Athletics.
It was Nix's first multi-hit game since April 25. The 30-year-old has received regular playing time at third base with Kevin Youkilis (back) on the shelf, but things could change now that Chris Nelson is in the fold. May 3 - 10:16 PM

Jayson Nix went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's win over the Tigers.

The longball came in the second inning off of Justin Verlander, and he nearly took him deep again in a later at-bat, but the ball went just foul. Nix has been thrust into shortstop duty with both Derek Jeter and Eduardo Nunez on the shelf and will likely be in the lineup for the next couple days.

Yankees purchased the contract of INF Jayson Nix from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Nix was removed from the 40-man roster during the offseason, but he has successfully secured a spot on the Opening Day roster. We should see him start at third base against left-handed pitching, including Opening Day against Jon Lester and the Red Sox. However, his fantasy impact will likely be minimal.
Mar 29 - 6:05 PM

Yankees sent INF Jayson Nix outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Nix cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. Nix, 30, batted .243/.306/.384 with four homers and a .690 OPS in 74 games with the Yankees this past season and figures to compete for a backup infielder job in the spring.

Yankees designated INF Jayson Nix for assignment.

The two sides agreed to a contract earlier in the day to avoid arbitration. Provided he accepts the assignment to Triple-A, he'll provide organizational depth and compete for a reserve infielder job during the spring.

Yankees and INF Jayson Nix avoided arbitration by agreeing to a contract.

No word yet on the exact terms, but it doesn't figure to be for much, as Nix was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. The 30-year-old batted .243/.306/.384 with four homers and a .690 OPS in 74 games with the Bombers this past season and will likely function as a backup infielder again next season.

Jayson Nix went 0-for-3 in the Yankees' ALCS Game 2 loss to the Tigers on Sunday in New York.

Nix is serving as the Yankees' starting shortstop in the absence of Derek Jeter (ankle) but could be in danger of being replaced by Eduardo Nunez if he fails to produce at the plate. Nix batted .243/.306/.384 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 74 games during the regular season.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Jayson Nix will be the team's starting shortstop for the remainder of the postseason with Derek Jeter (ankle) out.

Eduardo Nunez will be added to the roster to take the spot of Jeter, who fractured his left ankle in the 12th inning of Saturday's loss to the Tigers. Nix, 30, had a couple hits in his lone start this postseason, but he's a career .214/.285/.371 hitter over parts of five major league seasons. Obviously, it's not an ideal situation for the Yanks.

Jayson Nix is expected to be part of the Yankees' roster for their ALDS matchup with the Orioles.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi hasn't announced anything yet, but Andruw Jones, Casey McGehee and Chris Dickerson have reportedly already been told that they will be left off. Which gives Nix the final bench spot.

MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports Jayson Nix will miss 10-14 days with a strained left hip flexor.

The injury rules him out for the Yankees' final four games, and it's possible Nix won't be added to the postseason roster. With Nix out, Eduardo Nunez will serve as the primary backup at shortstop and second base.

Jayson Nix will have an MRI on his left hip Saturday.

The severity of the injury (or when it occurred) isn't yet known, but Nix may have got hurt filling in for Alex Rodriguez on Thursday. With Nix out, Eduardo Nunez will serve as the Yankees' primary backup infielder.

Jayson Nix went 2-for-3 and scored a run, helping to lead the Yankees to a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Nix singled in the first inning, and came around to score the first run of the game on a Nick Swisher single. He has only seen sporadic playing time, and isn't a useful player in fantasy formats, but has been a solid bench bat for the Yankees this season. He's now hitting .255 with four homers, 16 RBI and five steals in 137 at-bats on the year.

Pinch-hitter Jayson Nix delivered a three-run double in the top of the eighth as the Yankees came back to beat the Mariners 5-2 on Wednesday.

The Yankees were down 2-1 when Nix was brought in to hit for Raul Ibanez. The Mariners countered by removing lefty Lucas Luetge and putting in right-hander Shawn Kelley, but Nix got the job done anyway. He should have some value in AL-only leagues while Alex Rodriguez is out.

Jayson Nix connected on his first home run of the season Saturday in New York, helping to lead the Yankees to a 6-2 victory over the Mariners.

Nix went yard off Hector Noesi in the second inning. He has been used very sparingly in the early part of the season and is doubtful to suddenly gain fantasy relevance.

Yankees purchased the contract of INF Jayson Nix from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

With Eric Chavez ailing, the Yanks needed to add some emergency infield depth. Nix was batting .233/.314/.367 at the Triple-A level. He won't carry any fantasy value.
