Kawasaki had already been sent out to minor league camp, but this move adds him to the 40-man roster. He'll provide organizational depth at Triple-A. Cubs manager Joe Maddon has stated that we will probably see the fun-loving middle infielder on the north side of Chicago at some point this summer.
