Pirates acquired INF Ivan DeJesus, Jr. from the Red Sox in the Joel Hanrahan deal.
DeJesus owns a .298 batting average and .370 on-base percentage in the minors, but he has scuffled in sporadic opportunities in the majors. Without much in the way of pop or speed, the 25-year-old likely fits best as a utility player in the long-term. Wed, Dec 26, 2012 01:25:00 PM

Red Sox designated INF Ivan DeJesus Jr. for assignment.

DeJesus was out of options, and the Sox already have a similar player on the roster in Pedro Ciriaco. It's possible he'll receive some interest on waivers.

Red Sox recalled INF Ivan DeJesus Jr. from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Acquired from the Dodgers in last month's megadeal, DeJesus has batted .273/.324/.364 in 23 big league games this season. He'll provide infield depth.

Red Sox acquired INF Ivan DeJesus Jr., RHP Allan Webster, 1B James Loney and two players to be named later from the Dodgers for 1B Adrian Gonzalez, RHP Josh Beckett, OF Carl Crawford, INF Nick Punto and cash considerations.

DeJesus has posted a pedestrian .295/.333/.415 batting line with three home runs and 33 RBI in 60 games this season at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old from Puerto Rico can play all around the field but is doubtful to ever become an offensive threat in the major leagues.

Dodgers optioned INF Ivan DeJesus Jr. to Triple-A Albuquerque.

He was sent down in order to make room for Scott Van Slyke on the active roster. DeJesus Jr. is hitting .273 (9-for-33) in 23 games with the Dodgers this season and should return to the major league level later this summer.

Ivan De Jesus Jr. hit a two-run double in the top of the ninth to lead the Dodgers to an 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

De Jesus didn't start, but he had a game-tying sac fly as a pinch-hitter in the seventh and then the go-ahead double in the ninth. One would hope it might earn him a start in Wednesday's game. De Jesus doesn't have much of a bat, but he is a fine defender, especially at second base. Odds are he'll get a start and Adam Kennedy will sit against the left-hander in the series finale.

Ivan DeJesus Jr. (oblique) has begun a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque.

DeJesus suffered a torn muscle on his left side in spring training and had been rehabbing at the Dodgers' spring training complex. He'll figures to be optioned to Triple-A once healthy.

Dodgers placed INF Ivan DeJesus Jr. on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a torn oblique.

DeJesus tore his right oblique in mid-March and is likely to miss the first month of the 2012 season. The 24-year-old middle infielder will presumably be sent to Triple-A Albuquerque once he's back to full health.

Ivan DeJesus Jr. is scheduled to take ground balls Wednesday for the first time since straining his left oblique muscle on March 17.

DeJesus is making progress, but he's unlikely to be a realistic option for the Opening Day roster at this point. The 24-year-old infielder batted .188 (6-for-32) in 17 games with the Dodgers last season.

An MRI taken this week on Ivan DeJesus' sore left side revealed a torn oblique muscle.

DeJesus could be out for a month or longer if the tear is severe. The 24-year-old infielder batted .188/.235/.188 in 35 plate appearances last year in the majors.
