Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Angels are close to signing left-hander David Huff to a minor league contract.

Huff just opted out of his minor league deal with the Royals. Given the state of the Angels' pitching staff, it's a nice landing spot for him. The 31-year-old owns a 5.08 ERA over 55 starts and 63 relief appearances in the majors. He appeared in three games with the Dodgers last year.

David Huff has opted out of his minor league deal with the Royals.

Huff posted an underwhelming 4.18 ERA in 12 relief outings for Triple-A Omaha and wasn't getting called up to Kansas City anytime soon. The 31-year-old will try to latch on as a bullpen arm somewhere else.
May 16 - 11:24 AM

Royals signed LHP David Huff to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

The deal will pay the veteran southpaw $1.1 million if he makes the big league club, plus a possible $300,000 in incentives. The contract also includes opt-out clauses on May 15 and June 15 if he is not yet in the big leagues. With his ability to both start and pitch out of the bullpen, he makes for a nice low-cost depth signing for the Royals.
Jan 9 - 12:23 PM

David Huff has elected free agency.

Huff was outrighted off the 40-man roster during the season and had the right to seek free agency. The 31-year-old spent almost all of the season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, posting a 2.20 ERA over 23 appearances (four starts).

Dodgers sent LHP David Huff outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Huff was designated for assignment by Los Angeles earlier this week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The left-hander will continue to function as organizational depth.

Dodgers designated LHP David Huff for assignment.

Huff tossed a scoreless inning in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, but now he's being sent out as the Dodgers add a fresh arm. He'll likely clear waivers.

Dodgers purchased the contract of LHP David Huff from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He'll be available out of the bullpen Monday, but if he isn't used could start one of games during Tuesday's doubleheader. Huff allowed four runs over four innings in a spot start for the Dodgers back in April.

Dodgers sent LHP David Huff outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Huff was designated for assignment by the Dodgers after allowing four runs over four innings in a spot start Tuesday night against the Mariners. The 30-year-old southpaw will continue to function as organizational rotation depth for Los Angeles.

Dodgers designated LHP David Huff for assignment.

Huff allowed four runs over four innings in a spot start Tuesday night against the Mariners. The 30-year-old left-hander was never long for a Dodgers uniform.

David Huff took a no-decision on Tuesday, yielding four runs in four innings of work against the Mariners.

The Mariners jumped on Huff immediately with back-to-back home runs in the first inning. Robinson Cano hit a two-run blast and Cruz, of course, went solo. Overall, the lefty gave up seven hits, walked one, and struck out two. Huff could get another start the next trip through the rotation. If he does, it'll be against the Giants on the road. If he doesn't, Scott Baker is likely to get the nod.

Dodgers purchased the contract of LHP David Huff from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Huff will start for the Dodgers on Tuesday night versus the Mariners. He only went three innings in his first appearance this season at Triple-A, so the left-hander figures to be on a pitch count of some sort in his spot start for Los Angeles. He was a poor fantasy bet anyway against the M's.

David Huff will start on Tuesday against the Mariners.

Scott Baker had been considered the favorite to get the start, but the Dodgers have opted for Huff instead. The lefty went just three relief innings in his lone Triple-A appearance this season, so he figures to be on a limited pitch count. The Dodgers will make an official roster move with Huff on Tuesday.

David Huff continued to pitch well, holding the Angels to just one run over 3 1/3 innings in Saturday's start.

Huff danced around six hits and a walk without recording a strikeout. The left-hander owns an impressive 1.50 ERA through 12 innings this spring, though he also sports an uninspiring 4/2 K/BB ratio. Given how thin the Dodgers are with pitching depth, Huff has a good chance of making the 25-man roster as a long man out of the bullpen.
Sat, Mar 28, 2015 07:23:00 PM

David Huff fired three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit in Sunday's Cactus League start against the Indians.

Huff didn't walk a batter or record a strikeout on the afternoon. With the injury to Hyun-Jin Ryu opening a spot in the Dodgers rotation, Huff now has a legitimate chance to secure a job as the long man in the bullpen if he continues to pitch well. He owns a terrific 1.04 ERA through 8 2/3 innings this spring.
