Giants designated LHP David Huff for assignment.

Huff gets the boot after posting a 6.30 ERA over 16 relief appearances. It's the second time since January that the veteran left-hander has been designated for assignment.
Jun 6 - 5:33 PM

Giants activated LHP David Huff from the 15-day disabled list.

Huff missed the last three weeks with a strained quad. He'll return to a long relief role with the Giants.
May 12 - 6:18 PM

David Huff (quad) could begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Fresno on Thursday.

Huff has thrown three bullpen sessions over the last few days with no issues and is ready for game action. "I had an extended game simulated bullpen," Huff said. "It felt great, I think I ended up throwing like 70 some pitches. Monday was Day 13. I feel good about the way things are progressing."
May 6 - 8:55 PM

Giants placed LHP David Huff on the 15-day disabled list with a left quad strain.

Huff injured his quad Monday night while running out his first major league hit and will now require an extended absence. The Giants have called up outfielder Juan Perez to replace him on the active roster.
Apr 22 - 12:56 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said after Monday's game that David Huff (quad) is likely headed to the disabled list.

Huff left Monday's game after strained his left quadriceps running out his first major league hit. Bochy said that the Giants won't necessarily call up a pitcher to replace him on the active roster.
Apr 22 - 8:38 AM

David Huff left Monday's appearance with a strained left quad.

Pitching in relief of Ryan Vogelsong, Huff picked up his first major league hit in the third inning but tweaked his quad in the process. It's not clear whether he might need a DL stint.
Apr 21 - 10:00 PM

David Huff (shoulder) allowed a run on two hits over an inning of work in his Cactus League debut Monday.

Matt Cain tossed five no-hit innings before Huff allowed a single to the first man he faced in the sixth. "I thought he threw the ball fine his first time out," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "We'll try to get him stretched out. It was good to see him pitch an inning." Assuming he's healthy, Huff should make the Opening Day roster as a long reliever.
Mar 10 - 10:01 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that David Huff (shoulder) should make his Cactus League debut soon.

Huff had to be scratched from an appearance last week due to shoulder soreness, but he's back on track. The left-hander is hoping to make the roster as a long reliever.
Mar 4 - 7:09 PM

David Huff was scratched from his scheduled start Friday due to shoulder stiffness.

It's likely not a huge issue, and there's no reason for clubs to push any players this early in camp. The Giants acquired the 29-year-old from the Yankees in January. He'll serve as organizational depth for the club this season.
Feb 26 - 6:28 PM

Giants acquired LHP David Huff from the Yankees in exchange for cash considerations.

The 29-year-old southpaw was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Wednesday to make room on the roster for Masahiro Tanaka. He posted a 4.67 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 34 2/3 innings with the Yankees in 2013.
Jan 24 - 8:25 PM

Yankees designated LHP David Huff for assignment.

The move clears room for the newly-signed Masahiro Tanaka on the 40-man roster. Huff, 29, had a 4.67 ERA and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 34 2/3 innings with the Yankees last season. He could draw some interest on waivers.
Jan 22 - 1:32 PM

David Huff is likely to start for the Yankees in Sunday's season finale against the Astros.

The 29-year-old southpaw has posted a 3-1 record, 5.16 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 19/8 K/BB ratio over 29 2/3 innings with the Yankees this season. Fantasy owners trying to eke out every last stat before the end of the season, could give Huff a look in what looks to be a very appealing matchup.

David Huff will start on Saturday against the Red Sox in Phil Hughes' place.

Huff is the benefactor of skipper Joe Girardi's decision to demote Hughes to the bullpen. "It's been an up-and-down year for Phil," Girardi said. "Huff's been throwing the ball well and we're just going to make the change." Huff has surrendered only one run on six hits in 15 frames since he was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last month. He's 17-26 with a 5.41 ERA over 52 career starts.
