Blue Jays optioned 1B/OF Lars Anderson to Triple-A Buffalo.

Anderson hit .357 with two home runs in 14 at-bats this spring in the Grapefruit League, but there simply isn't a place right now for him on Toronto's 25-man roster. He should be given a shot at some point this summer.

A former top prospect Anderson has been designated for assignment two times in the last month and is now in his fifth organization since last year's trade deadline. He'll try to win a spot on the Blue Jays' bench.

Anderson has lost some of his luster as a prospect and was batting just .259/.359/.415 in 401 plate appearances this season for Triple-A Pawtucket. But he's only 24 years old and was once considered a top-notch talent.

Red Sox recalled 1B/OF Lars Anderson from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Anderson has worked in the outfield some this season for Pawtucket, offering Boston enough versatility to be comfortable with him replacing Jason Repko on the roster. Anderson posted a stellar .343/.425/.543 batting line this spring in the Grapefruit League, but he had just a .791 OPS in his second full season at Triple-A last year and is batting only .255/.358/.400 in 67 plate appearances for Pawtucket in 2012. At this point, he's only worth a look in deep AL-only leagues or keeper formats.

Lars Anderson went 2-for-2 with a grand slam in Boston's 8-3 win over a Minnesota split-squad on Sunday.

The slam came off veteran right-hander Jason Bulger. Anderson would have been part of the A's messy first-base situation right now had last summer's Rich Harden trade gone through. Since Harden failed his physical, Anderson stayed with Boston, though he likely remains available in trade talks. He's set to return to Triple-A Pawtucket unless something changes.

Anderson, 23, spent the entire season at the Triple-A level, batting .265/.369/.422 with 14 homers, 78 RBI and a .791 OPS over 577 plate appearances. He doesn't figure to get much playing time down the stretch.

Red Sox optioned 1B Lars Anderson and OF Juan Carlos Linares to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Anderson climbed all the way to the major leagues last season and could see some action in the bigs again in late 2011, but he's going to open the year as the starting first baseman at Triple-A. At this point, the promising 23-year-old needs as many at-bats as possible.

It's obviously a tough break for Sale's fantasy owners, but the good news is that the move is viewed as precautionary and he's expected to be ready to start next Tuesday. Hector Santiago will get the ball Wednesday in Sale's place. He'll be pitching on three days' rest. May 21

	3	John Danks D.L. John Danks (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to make his season debut Friday against the Marlins. White Sox manager Robin Ventura finally made the decision official on Wednesday night. Danks posted a 3.18 ERA during his four rehab starts, but he also had a 15/13 K/BB ratio and is still dealing with diminished velocity. Mixed leaguers should stay away for now. May 22
	4	Gavin Floyd D.L. Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow. The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter. May 8
