Scott Sizemore underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

Sizemore has already been ruled out for the entire 2013 season and could struggle to recover in time for the start of the 2014 campaign. This was the infielder's second reconstructive knee procedure in two years.

Scott Sizemore has re-torn his left ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season.

Terrible news for the infielder. Sizemore was making just his second start since 2011 when he suffered the injury Tuesday, as he missed all of last year with the same injury. Surgery has not yet been scheduled but, it seems possible that he might not be ready for the start of the 2014 campaign.

Sizemore suffered the injury during Tuesday's game against the Angels and could be out for several weeks. Eric Sogard will serve as the A's primary second baseman. Andy Parrino has been called up from Triple-A.

Scott Sizemore is scheduled to return to Oakland on Wednesday to undergo an MRI on his left knee.

Sizemore left Tuesday's game against the Angels due to a sprained knee. The 27-year-old underwent surgery on the very same knee last spring, so he's hoping it's just scar tissue. However, the banged-up Athletics will likely be forced to make a roster move. Andy Parrino is the leading candidate to be called up from Triple-A Sacramento.

It's the same knee in which he tore his ACL last year. Consider Sizemore day-to-day right now, but if he lands on the DL, the A's will probably recall Jemile Weeks to share time with Eric Sogard at second base.

Scott Sizemore broke out of a funk Monday by going 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored as part of a 9-7 win over the Brewers.

All four hits were singles. Sizemore entered Monday's action batting just .171 (7-for-41) this spring, so it was good timing as he attempts to hold off Adam Rosales and the hot-hitting Eric Sogard for playing time at second base.

Sizemore was hit in the left hand by a pitch on Sunday, but an X-rays ruled out a fracture. The swelling has gone down, so he hopes to play in a game as soon as Thursday.

X-rays taken Monday morning on Scott Sizemore's bruised left hand showed no fracture of any kind.

Sizemore was hit by a pitch Sunday during a Cactus League game against the Rockies. He should return to action at some point this week and remains in the running for the Athletics' starting second base job.

According to Jane Lee of MLB.com, Scott Sizemore is fully healthy after missing the entire 2012 season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Sizemore was scheduled to be the A's starting third baseman for the 2012 season before the injury on this first day of workouts derailed his season. He'll head into spring training competing for time at both third and second base. He has an intriguing blend of power and speed, and could be a potential fantasy sleeper if he can find his way into an everyday role.

Athletics GM Billy Beane stated Saturday that Scott Sizemore will return to his regular position of second base for the 2013 season.

Sizemore was penciled in as the A's starting third baseman in 2012, but he suffered a major injury in spring training and was forced to miss the entire year after ACL surgery. He'll likely have to compete with Jemile Weeks for the Opening Day gig in 2013.

Scott Sizemore (knee) is with the Athletics on their road trip and has been taking batting practice and fielding grounders every day.

Sizemore, who had ACL surgery back in March, had already resumed hitting last month. "It's a beautiful thing," he said. He's expected to be 100 percent for spring training next year.
