Reds signed RHP Blake Wood to a one-year contract.
Wood was most recently with the Pirates. In their minor league system, he held a 3.99 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 70/25 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings. The numbers were serviceable enough that the Reds opted to secure the 30-year-old right-hander on a major league contract. Nov 20 - 6:25 PM

Blake Wood has elected free agency.

The 30-year-old right-hander spent the 2015 campaign in the Pirates organization, compiling a 3.99 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 70/25 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings. There should be bullpen-starved teams interested in inking him to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Pirates reassigned RHP Blake Wood to minor league camp.

Wood was knocked around for five runs in 7+ innings during Spring Training. This is par for the course, as he posted a 4.46 ERA in the minors last season. Barring a rash of injuries on the Pirates' big league club, he'll serve as organizational depth.

Pirates signed RHP Blake Wood to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Wood allowed five earned runs in 6 1/3 innings this past season with the Indians. He spent the majority of 2014 at Triple-A, where the results weren't much better.

Royals designated RHP Blake Wood for assignment.

Royals claimed RHP Blake Wood off waivers from the Indians; assigned him to Triple-A Omaha.

Wood was designated for assignment by Cleveland last Tuesday. He allowed five earned runs in 6 1/3 innings for the Indians and probably won't suddenly find success with the Royals. The right-hander was a third-round pick of Kansas City in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft.

Indians designated RHP Blake Wood for assignment.

Wood allowed five earned runs in 6 1/3 innings of relief earlier this season with the Indians. The 28-year-old righty will probably pass through waivers unclaimed.

Indians optioned RHP Blake Wood to Triple-A Akron.

The Indians needed to create room on the roster as they activated DH Jason Giambi from the disabled list. Wood struggled over seven relief appearances, allowing five runs in 6 1/3 innings, walking as many as he struck out (seven).

Blake Wood has won a spot in the Indians' bullpen.

Wood, who missed all of 2012 and most of 2013 coming back from Tommy John surgery, posted a 0.93 ERA and 11/6 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings this spring. He'll pitch in middle relief.

Indians avoided arbitration with RHP Blake Wood by agreeing to a one-year contract.

The financial terms aren't known yet. Wood missed all of 2012 and a good chunk of 2013 while coming back from Tommy John surgery, but he'll have a good shot at breaking spring training as a part of the Tribe's bullpen. He throws hard but needs to get his walks under control.

Indians recalled RHP Blake Wood from Triple-A Columbus.

The 28-year-old right-hander has successfully worked his way back from Tommy John surgery, returning the majors for the first time since the 2011 season with the Royals. He registered a 2.16 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 23/10 k/BB ratio over 16 2/3 innings at Triple-A, and could be a nice boost to the Tribe’s rotation down the stretch.

Indians activated RHP Blake Wood from the 60-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Columbus.

Wood is all the way back from Tommy John surgery, but he'll have to earn his way up to the big league bullpen. The righty has posted a 1.98 ERA and 17/11 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 rehab innings.

Blake Wood (elbow) will continue his minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with Class A Lake County.

Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.

Blake Wood's rehab assignment has been halted after he felt soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow in his first appearance with Double-A Akron on Saturday.

Wood will resume the assignment once the soreness subsides. It's obviously not ideal, but pitchers often encounter little bumps in the road as they work their way back from Tommy John surgery.
