Mets signed RHP Blake Beavan to a minor league contract.
Beavan, 28, spent time in independent ball last season and was pitching this year in the Mexican League. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2014 and is merely a depth addition. Fri, May 5, 2017 08:16:00 AM

Blake Beavan has agreed to a contract with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the independent Atlantic League.

Beavan was released from the Diamondbacks' Triple-A affiliate earlier this month after posting a 6.32 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, and 9/5 K/BB ratio over his first 15 2/3 innings. He's probably done as a major leaguer.

Diamondbacks re-assigned RHP Blake Beavan, Braden Shipley and Aaron Blair, LHP Justin Marks, and Cs Matt Pagnozzi and Mark Thomas to minor league camp.

Beavan entered camp with seemingly a decent shot to crack the Opening Day roster, but he didn't appear in a single Cactus League game before being cut. He'll be part of Triple-A Reno's rotation.

Diamondbacks signed RHP Blake Beavan to a minor league contract.

He'll presumably be invited to spring training. Beavan spent almost all of 2014 at Triple-A with the Mariners, posting a 3.69 ERA over 39 innings. He's rotation depth for the D'Backs.

Mariners sent RHP Blake Beavan outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

The move was necessary to clear a spot on the roster for James Paxton who was activated from the disabled list on Saturday. Beavan will continue to provide pitching depth in the minor leagues.

Mariners activated RHP Blake Beavan from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-a Tacoma.

Beavan is over his shoulder issue, but he'll join Tacoma's rotation rather than the big league roster. The righty allowed two runs over four frames in his lone start for the M's.

Blake Beavan (shoulder) has moved his rehab assignment up to Triple-A Tacoma.

Out since mid-April with a shoulder impingement, Beavan allowed two runs and three hits in two innings for High-A High Desert on Monday in his first rehab start. He should be activated before too long but figures to be optioned to Triple-A at that point.

Mariners transferred RHP Blake Beavan to the 60-day disabled list.

This was done merely as a procedural move to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Endy Chavez who had his contract purchased on Friday. Beavan is still working his way back from a shoulder impingement.

Blake Beavan (shoulder) could begin playing catch later this week.

Beavan was diagnosed last week with a shoulder impingement after having to leave an outing. There's no timetable for his return. "A lot of times, it’s the bursa in your shoulder," Seattle trainer Rick Griffin explained. "It becomes inflamed. When that becomes inflamed, there isn’t enough room for your shoulder to move around normally. So it pinches. When you throw the baseball, especially when you follow through, you get a pinching sensation in their shoulder. So you have to get the inflammation quieted down."

Mariners placed RHP Blake Beavan on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury.

Beavan left his start Tuesday night against the Rangers after experiencing tightness in his throwing shoulder. It's not yet known how long he might be sidelined.

Blake Beavan took the loss in Tuesday's start against the Rangers after he allowed two runs over four innings of work.

Beavan exited with tightness in his right shoulder and was relieved by Dominic Leone. Overall, Beavan allowed six hits, zero walks, and struck out one. He was expected to make at least one more start, but the Mariners will evaluate him before sending him back out. If he does make his next scheduled start, it will be on Sunday against the Marlins.

Blake Beavan left Tuesday's start against the Rangers have four innings due to tightness in his right shoulder.

His shoulder was tight during the entire start and it apparently became too much after the fourth. Beavan allowed two runs on six hits before exiting. With Taijuan Walker's (shoulder) setback, he was probably in line for at least one more start. That's up in the air now.

Mariners recalled RHP Blake Beavan from Triple-A Tacoma.

Beavan will start on Tuesday against the Rangers. The 25-year-old right-hander owns a 4.61 career ERA at the major league level and is expected to make just the one start before Taijuan Walker (shoulder) rejoins the rotation.

Blake Beavan will start for the Mariners on the road Tuesday against the Rangers.

Beavan has a 2.08 ERA through his first two starts this season at Triple-A Tacoma, but the 25-year-old right-hander owns a 4.61 career ERA at the major league level and is not a good fantasy bet against Texas.

Roenis Elias and Blake Beavan have won the final two spots in the Mariners' rotation.

Randy Wolf actually won one of the spots (likely ahead of Beavan), but he decided to ask for his release after refusing to sign a 45-day advance consent release waiver. The M's are hoping that both Elias and Beavan are simply keeping rotation spots warm until Hisashi Iwakuma (finger) and Taijuan Walker (shoulder) are ready. Neither holds fantasy appeal.
