Brandon Crawford went 2-for-3 with a walk, triple and two runs scored against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Crawford now has seven triples on the season, helping to prop up his .460 slugging percentage. The triple was also his second in the last two games. Career-best slugging percentage aside, there are still plenty of better options at shortstop for fantasy owners outside of NL-only leagues. Jun 23 - 12:13 AM

Date:

Brandon Crawford is not in the Giants starting lineup for Friday night's game against the Rockies.

It's just a routine day of rest for the veteran shortstop. Ehire Adrianza will draw the start in his place and hit eighth against opposing southpaw Jorge De La Rosa.
Jun 13 - 6:38 PM

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Mets.

Crawford delivered an RBI single in the second inning, and he also doubled in the game. He's got hits in six of his last seven games, pulling his average up from .236 to .250. He's scored six runs and collected eight RBI in that span. He's provided surprising value for NL-only owners thus far.
Jun 8 - 9:47 PM

Brandon Crawford went 3-for-5 with a splash hit Wednesday for his fifth homer of the year.

Crawford is hitting his usual .250ish, but now has more homers this year than he did in 2012 and more than half of his 2013 total of nine in 499 at-bats. It's too bad he's not a basestealer at all; that's what really limits him as a fantasy shortstop.
May 14 - 7:32 PM

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Crawford has four homers this year, matching his total from his first full season in 2012. Last year, he hit nine in 149 games. Right now, he's on pace for 18. That's probably not realistic, but it seems like a given that he'll have his best fantasy season to date. He's also set a career high in steals already with two!
May 10 - 2:03 AM

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in the Giants' 4-1 win over the Braves on Sunday.

Crawford took Alex Wood deep in the fourth inning for what turned out to be the game-winning run, and he added a two-run shot in the eighth for good measure. The home runs raised Crawford's line to .264/.361/.473 with 14 RBI through 29 games.
May 4 - 5:03 PM

Brandon Crawford flied out as a pinch-hitter in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.

Crawford has missed two straight starts with a tight right hamstring, but it's a good sign that he was able to enter Thursday's game late. He's aiming to return to the lineup Friday.
Apr 18 - 4:10 AM

Brandon Crawford (hamstring) is not in the Giants' starting lineup on Thursday against the Dodgers.

Crawford also missed Wednesday's game with tightness in his right hamstring, but he was able to take grounders on Thursday afternoon and is aiming to return Friday.
Apr 17 - 3:04 PM

Brandon Crawford is not in the Giants' starting lineup for Wednesday's game due to a tight right hamstring.

Crawford downplayed the injury, saying he could have played if needed. As it is, he'll be available off the bench for manager Bruce Bochy and hopes to be back in the lineup Thursday. Joaquin Arias started at shortstop in his place Wednesday.
Apr 16 - 7:45 PM

Brandon Crawford hit one into McCovey Cove in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Giants a 5-4, walk-off win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Crawford picked a good time for his first home run of the season and his first splash down of his career. He'd delivered an RBI on a sacrifice fly earlier in the contest, giving him two RBI on the day. The shortstop is mostly glove but has become a better offensive player in recent years, and he's hitting .308 in early action this year.
Apr 13 - 7:25 PM

Brandon Crawford will be benched this season against some left-handers.

Given his career .214/.272/.297 batting line versus southpaws, he probably would be benched against all of them if the Giants had a viable alternative. Joaquin Arias will play short against some lefties, with Brandon Hicks handling second base. "I need to hit better against left-handed pitchers. I know that," Crawford said. "I’m going to go out there and do my best, and hopefuly I have those good at-bats. I know (manager Bruce Bochy) is trying to put the best lineup on the field. I want to be part of the best lineup."
Mar 31 - 9:27 PM

Brandon Crawford belted his first home run of the Cactus League season, leading the Giants to a 13-9 victory over the Royals on Sunday.

The veteran shortstop went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and RBI on the day. Even with the nice day, he's hitting a paltry .239/.250/.370 on the spring, and shouldn't be counted on as anything more than a middle infield option in NL-only leagues.
Mar 23 - 11:41 PM

Brandon Crawford tweaked his right oblique during Sunday's victory over the Padres, and will head for an MRI exam on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old defensive wizard unexpectedly contributed a little with the stick this season, hitting .248/.311/.363 with nine homers, 52 runs, 43 RBI and a stolen base in 499 at-bats. He should have no problem being ready for the beginning of the 2014 season.
Sun, Sep 29, 2013 10:45:00 PM

Brandon Crawford is not in the Giants' starting lineup Thursday afternoon against the Mets.

Ehire Adrianza will get his first career major league start. Crawford should be back in action Friday.
Thu, Sep 19, 2013 11:09:00 AM

Brandon Crawford finished 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI Wednesday against the Mets.

Crawford went 7-for-14 against New York after collecting just one hit in the nine contests heading up to the three-game series. He's batting .270/.331/.383 over 300 at-bats.
