Brandon Crawford went 2-for-4 with a three-run double in the Giants' 8-6 victory over the Rockies on Thursday.
Crawford has made a career out of hitting against the Rockies; he's at .348 with three homers and 17 RBI in 92 at-bats against Colorado, compared to .228 with nine homers and 69 RBI in 680 at-bats against everyone else. Fortunately, he has three more games at Coors Field coming up this weekend. May 17 - 12:06 AM

Date:

Brandon Crawford is not in Friday's lineup against the Dodgers.

He's just getting the day off. Joaquin Arias will start in his place at shortstop and bat sixth against left-hander Clayton Kershaw.
May 3 - 5:49 PM

Brandon Crawford went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a game-tying solo homer in the ninth inning of Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Crawford had three of the Giants' eight hits and their only two RBI in the extra innings defeat. The longball came off of David Hernandez, who was filling in at closer with J.J. Putz unavailable. Crawford is now batting .320 with four homers and 10 RBI on the season. He won't keep it up, but ride him while he's hot.
Apr 24 - 7:31 PM

Brandon Crawford went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday afternoon's loss to the Brewers.

Crawford was batting out of the fifth spot in the Giants' order and did not disappoint. The 26-year-old shortstop is now hitting .352/.435/.593 with three home runs and seven RBI in 16 games this season. But he's a .241/.308/.345 career hitter in the major leagues so we have trouble believing the hotness will last for much longer.
Apr 18 - 5:08 PM

Brandon Crawford hit a three-run homer Tuesday in the Giants' 9-6 win over the Rockies.

The homer gave him his first runs batted in of the season. He also drew a walk tonight. Because Crawford has so little home run power and stolen base ability, he's one of baseball's worst regulars for fantasy purposes. The Giants have few complaints, though.
Apr 10 - 1:36 AM

Brandon Crawford is batting just .176/.222/.235 through the first five games of the season.

He's struck out five times versus just one walk in his first 18 plate appearances. A career .233/.297/.330 hitter, Crawford is in the lineup for his defense, so anything he offers the Giants at the plate will be a bonus.
Apr 7 - 11:50 AM

Brandon Crawford made several stellar defensive plays and also delivered an RBI single as the Giants beat the Tigers Saturday in Game 3 of the World Series.

The Giants now own a 3-0 lead in the series. Crawford finished the night 2-for-3 and also stole a base. His RBI single in the second inning drove in Gregor Blanco, who had plated the Giants’ first run with an RBI triple.

Brandon Crawford clobbered a grand slam in the sixth inning, powering the Giants to a 7-2 victory over the Phillies on Friday.

Crawford finished the night 2-for-4 with a season-high five RBI. While known as an excellent defender, the Giants don't expect much from Crawford on the offensive side of the ledger. Still, he's managed to deliver quite a few critical hits this season, with none bigger than Friday's game changing blast. He's now hitting .240 with three homers and 29 RBI on the season, and remains a fantasy play only in NL-only formats.

Brandon Crawford hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the 11th inning of Wednesday's 9-4 victory over the Braves.

It was part of a six-run frame for San Francisco. Crawford is batting just .240/.292/.341 with two home runs and 24 RBI in 83 games this season, but he'll continue to get regular playing time unless the Giants make an upgrade at the July 31 trade deadline.

Brandon Crawford delivered his first three-hit game of the season Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Included was his second triple of the year. For fantasy purposes, Crawford is as weak as any regular in baseball. Still, because he's played such strong defense, it doesn't look like the Giants are seriously considering upgrading.

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Both hits were singles for Crawford, who's had just two multi-hit nights in his past 19 games. Crawford has begun to lose playing time to Joaquin Arias at shortstop, putting his already dangerously thin NL-only league value on ice.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy hinted Thursday that he is considering giving Brandon Crawford a mental break from the lineup.

"The plan is to play him but occasionally give him a day off. It could be (Friday)," said Bochy. "We’ll need some offense here, but he’ll get better. This is a young kid and a gifted shortstop. We’ll all have our ups and down and get shaken a little bit, but we think a lot of him." Crawford committed two errors in Thursday's loss to the Marlins and struck out in both of his at-bats, lowering his batting average to .208 for the season. His job doesn't appear in jeopardy, but Joaquin Arias could begin to steal at-bats against left-handed pitchers. Of course, Arias may also share playing time with Conor Gillaspie at third base while Pablo Sandoval (fractured hamate bone) is sidelined.

Brandon Crawford struck out in both of his at-bats and committed two errors before being removed for a pinch-hitter in Thursday's loss.

Crawford is a plus fielder, but he's still committed six errors already and he may well be the worst hitter among NL regulars. The Giants would likely be better off going to Emmanuel Burriss at shortstop and sending Crawford down to Triple-A for a bit.

Brandon Crawford is not playing Thursday.

Crawford had started at shortstop in all of the Giants' first 18 games and is finally getting some rest. Joaquin Arias will get the nod Thursday against the Reds.

Brandon Crawford hyperextended his elbow during Tuesday's game but says he'll be fine.

Crawford wasn't removed from the game, as the contest ended with him standing on deck. We wouldn't be surprised if the Giants play it safe and sit him Wednesday, but it doesn't sound like a big deal.
