Rockies optioned LHP Josh Outman to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He gets the boot despite posting a 2.16 ERA over six spring appearances. He'll be an option for the big league bullpen or possibly rotation eventually.

Rockies avoided arbitration with LHP Josh Outman by signing him to a one-year, $675,000 contract.

The left-hander was a first-time arbitration-eligible player. Outman struck out a batter per inning but posted an ugly 8.19 ERA over 27 appearances for the Rockies last season.

Josh Outman is expected to play winter ball in the Dominican Republic.

Outman has been limited to just 109 innings this season between the majors and the minors, so he wants to build up his workload. The 28-year-old southpaw has an ugly 8.59 ERA and 36/17 K/BB ratio in 36 2/3 innings over seven starts and 16 relief appearances with the Rockies this year. He'll likely remain in the bullpen in 2013.

Rockies recalled LHP Josh Outman from Double-A Tulsa.

Outman has an ugly 9.00 ERA and 32/16 K/BB ratio over 31 innings with the Rockies this season. The 27-year-old southpaw will pitch out of the bullpen for now, but could make a start or two before the season is over. He's not likely to be fantasy relevant.

Rockies optioned LHP Josh Outman to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Outman walked five in a rough three-inning outing Monday in St. Louis and has registered a poor 9.00 overall ERA in 31 innings this season. The 27-year-old lefty is likely to be given another shot later this summer.

Josh Outman is expected to lose his spot in the rotation.

The Rockies want to stay with four starters for now, and Jeremy Guthrie is being added back to the mix Wednesday. Outman has posted an 8.89 ERA over seven starts, so this comes as no surprise. He'll go back to a long relief role.

Josh Outman put up the latest poor outing for the Rockies Monday, as he allowed two runs on two hits and five walks over just three innings in a loss to the Cardinals.

The five free passes tied a career high. Outman’s move into the rotation hasn’t gone well to this point, as he holds an 8.89 ERA over seven outings. Assuming he remains among the starting five, he’ll try for better results this weekend against the Nats.

Josh Outman was pulled after surrendering five runs in three innings Thursday against the Nationals.

It looks like Outman could be the second member of the Rockies' four-man rotation to lose his spot since the team made the switch nine days ago. His ERA stands at 9.32 now, so don't be surprised if Drew Pomeranz takes his spot next week.

Josh Outman struggled in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday, yielding four runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Outman fanned three and walked two. Rockies manager Jim Tracy told reporters Tuesday afternoon that he's going with a four-man rotation and will limit each starter to 75 pitches. He held true to that with Outman in this one, as the lefty turned it over to the bullpen after throwing just 72 pitches. Outman will take an 8.41 ERA into his next start against the Rangers.

Josh Outman was lousy in Wednesday's home loss to the A's, allowing five runs on six hits and two homers in five innings.

Tonight's start was Outman's longest in three outings since joining the rotation, but second straight game where he allowed at least five runs. In 16 total innings this season, he's posted an 8.44 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. He might not get another start.

Josh Outman was pounded for five runs in three innings by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.

Outman gave the Rockies 3 1/3 scoreless innings in his first start Friday after moving to the rotation from the pen, but he couldn't keep it going tonight, as the red-hot Paul Goldschmidt contributed to his early demise. He'll probably get one more start next week to show what he can do, but his rotation spot is far from secure.

In his first start of the season, Josh Outman tossed 3 1/3 shutout innings Friday night against the Dodgers.

Outman gave up just two hits while striking out five and walking one. He's in the process of being stretched out, so Rockies manager Jim Tracy pulled him after 55 pitches. The southpaw certainly proved worthy of remaining in the rotation, so he currently lines up to face the Diamondbacks next week. We want to see more before trusting him in fantasy leagues, but he does own a 3.84 ERA over 159 1/3 innings in the big leagues.

Josh Outman will be limited to 50 pitches in his start against the Dodgers Friday.

While he has plenty of starting experience, Outman hasn't pitched more than an inning in any outing this season, so he'll have to build up his stamina. He's taking the rotation spot of Jamie Moyer, who was designated for assignment Wednesday.

Josh Outman will get a crack at filling Jamie Moyer's spot in the Rockies' starting rotation.

"[Outman is] stretched out to go a little bit, and then he'll be piggy-backed with somebody," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "Slowly but surely, we'll stretch him out to where he gets the point where he can determine his own fate from one start to the next." The 27-year-old left-hander owns a decent 3.92 career ERA but can go on being ignored in most fantasy formats.
