Rockies signed INF Hernan Iribarren to a minor league contract.

Iribarren, 26, batted .275 with eight home runs and 70 RBI over 128 games for the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate last season and has posted strong offensive numbers this winter for the Tigres de Aragua of the Venezuelan Winter League. He will serve as organizational depth in 2011 for the Rox.

Rangers outrighted INF Hernan Iribarren to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

With this move and Wednesday's trade of Edwar Ramirez, the Rangers have cleared two spots on their 40-man roster. Iribarren, 25, was claimed off waivers from the Brewers earlier this month.

Rangers claimed IF Hernan Iribarren off waivers from the Brewers.

Iribarren, 25, batted .231 (3-for-12) with an RBI in 12 games with the Brewers last season, but spent most of the year with Triple-A Nashville, batting .311/.362/.412 with three homers and 54 RBI. He doesn't bring a whole lot to the table in terms of skills, but is a possibility to be a reserve infielder in Texas.

Brewers optioned IF Hernan Iribarren to Triple-A Nashville.

The Brewers needed to make a roster move in order to make room for Tuesday's starter Jeff Suppan on the roster. Iribarren batted .231 (3-for-12) with an RBI in 12 games with the Brewers this season. He's likely to return when rosters expand.

Brewers recalled infielder Hernan Iribarren from Triple-A Nashville.

Iribarren, 24, received just two at-bats during a stay with the Brewers in late May and will probably struggle to find playing time this time around.

Brewers optioned infielder Hernan Iribarren to Triple-A Nashville.

Iribarren was an odd call-up three days ago, as the Brewers already had Craig Counsell and Casey McGehee on the 25-man roster. He received two at-bats and struck out twice. That's an easy route to a quick demotion.

Brewers recalled infielder Hernan Iribarren from Triple-A Nashville.

Iribarren, a 24-year-old second baseman, hit .308/.354/.450 with one home run and 19 RBI in 120 at-bats on the Triple-A level. He'll get a fair shake with Rickie Weeks out for the season, but we aren't expecting much.

Hernan Iribarren went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four runs scored Friday for Lara of the VWL.

Iribarren made his major league debut in April and also spent part of June with the Brewers, but he wasn't heard from in the second half after going into a slump in Triple-A. He ended up hitting .277/.329/.341 with 19 steals in 361 at-bats for Nashville. Because he can hit for average and play both second base and the outfield, he has a chance at a career as a bench player. However, he's probably going to open next year back in Triple-A.

Brewers optioned infielder-outfielder Hernan Iribarren to Triple-A Nashville.

Iribarren is 2-for-14 with one RBI during his two stints with the Brewers this season.

Brewers recalled infielder-outfielder Hernan Iribarren from Triple-A Nashville.

The left-handed Iribarren was hitting .273 with 14 stolen bases at Triple-A, and could see significant action at second base against right-handed pitchers. If he gets off to a hot start, the sure-handed fielder will take even more time from Craig Counsell and Joe Dillon at second base. Still, since he doesn't do much more than hit for average, it's fine to take a wait-and-see approach.

Brewers optioned second baseman Hernan Iribarren to Triple-A Nashville.

Iribarren's RBI double today wasn't enough to keep him around with Tony Gwynn Jr. and Mike Cameron due back soon. He went 2-for-6 during his week in the majors.

Brewers recalled second baseman Hernan Iribarren from Triple-A Nashville.

The 23-year-old Iribarren is making his major league debut. His ability to hit for average has made him a fringe prospect for years, but he's not capable of doing much else. The Brewers could use him as a defensive replacement for Rickie Weeks late in games.

Hernan Iribarren doubled twice on Friday and is batting .448 in the Venezuelan Winter League.

He's 13-for-29. The 23-year-old Iribarren hit .307/.363/.430 with 18 steals in 34 attempts in Double-A last season. Since his only major league skill is his ability to hit for average, he's a long shot to make it as a regular. A career as a bench player remains possible.

Hernan Iribarren joined J.D. Closser in driving in seven runs for the Brewers on Friday.

He had three hits, including a three-run homer off Matt Cain. Iribarren has been an interesting prospect since hitting .439 in the Arizona League in 2004, but his stock isn't any higher now than it was then. The 22-year-old is due to spend this year in Double-A.
