Jun 7 - 2:39 PM

Blue Jays recalled 1B/3B Matt Dominguez from Triple-A Buffalo.

Dominguez was 0-for-7 with three strikeouts during a brief stint with the big club earlier this season. He'll back up at the corner infield spots.

Blue Jays optioned 1B/3B Matt Dominguez to Triple-A Buffalo.

Dominguez was 0-for-7 with three strikeouts during his nearly week-long stay in the bigs. The 26-year-old stands as a .232/.274/.372 career major league hitter.
May 3 - 11:15 PM

Matt Dominguez is playing first base and hitting sixth for Wednesday's showdown with the White Sox.

Dominguez was called up on Tuesday to help serve as a right-handed bat in lieu of the suspended Chris Colabello (performance enhancing drugs). He sees a start on Wednesday against left-hander Jose Quintana, though manager John Gibbons indicated that moving forward, Justin Smoak will likely see the bulk of starts at first. Dominguez held a nice .311/.333/.475 triple-slash with 14 RBI through 17 games at Triple-A Buffalo, but as a career .233 hitter in the majors, offers little fantasy upside.
Apr 27 - 4:34 PM

Blue Jays recalled 3B Matt Dominguez from Triple-A Buffalo.

Toronto needed a right-handed bat to replace Chris Colabello, who is serving an 80-game PED suspension. Dominguez has been raking in Triple-A with a .311 average and 14 RBI in his first 17 games. Right-hander Drew Hutchison was sent to Buffalo in the corresponding move.
Apr 26 - 1:54 PM

Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports that the Blue Jays will call up Matt Dominguez from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Drew Hutchison will be sent down to clear a spot on the active roster. Dominguez will give the Blue Jays a right-bat off their bench following Chris Colabello's PED suspension. The 26-year-old is a .233 hitter in the majors, but he was batting .311/.333/.475 with two home runs through his first 17 games in Triple-A this season.

Blue Jays optioned 3B Matt Dominguez to Triple-A Buffalo; re-assigned LHP Wade LeBlanc to minor league camp.

Dominguez was claimed off waivers late last season and had little to no chance of heading north with the big club. He'll represent depth in the minors.
Mar 18 - 10:43 AM

Blue Jays claimed 3B Matt Dominguez off waivers from the Brewers.

It's Dominguez's third organization in the last few months as he went from the Astros to the Brewers on a waiver claim back in June. He's merely a depth addition.

Brewers claimed 3B Matt Dominguez off waivers from the Astros; optioned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Dominguez was designated for assignment by the Astros last week after batting .251/.289/.371 over 45 games this season in Triple-A. The 25-year-old will give the Brewers some minor league depth for now, but could take over at third base if the team trades Aramis Ramirez in the coming weeks.

Astros designated 3B Matt Dominguez for assignment.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for shortstop Carlos Correa, who will make his major league debut on Monday night. Dominguez was batting .251/.289/.371 in 45 games this season at the Triple-A level, but he's a former top prospect and only 25 years old so there may be interest from other organizations.

Astros optioned 3B Matt Dominguez to Triple-A Fresno.

He batted just .250/.282/.250 this spring. With Luis Valbuena at the hot corner now and Colin Moran on the way, Dominguez's days as a starter in Houston are likely over.

Matt Dominguez has been asked to try his hand at first base this year.

"(Astros manager A.J. Hinch) thinks I’m going to be a third baseman, but he wants to also help me try to make the team by adding a little more versatility and move around a little bit more," Dominguez said. "Do whatever I need to do." The Astros' acquisition of Luis Valbuena moves Dominguez into a part-time role, so it would help him get on the field if he could play more positions. Dominguez, 25, hit .215/.256/.330 as an everyday player last season.

Matt Dominguez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Dominguez had an RBI single in the second inning before swatting a game-tying home run in the eighth. The homer was his 15th of the season, giving him 53 RBI. Dominguez is batting a forgettable .224/.267/.349 as the Astros starting third baseman.

Matt Dominguez went 0-for-3 in Thursday's loss to the Yankees.

Dominguez, making outs like no one else in baseball right now, is batting .203 with just two walks in 123 at-bats since the All-Star break. He's hit for more power than expected as a major leaguer, but he's never been the defensive dynamo that he came advertised as while in the minors. It might actually be a good thing for him that the Astros acquired Colin Moran from the Marlins in the Jarrod Cosart deal; if they didn't have a third base prospect worth waiting on, the position would be an obvious place to try to upgrade at this winter. As is, they might as well give Dominguez another year and see what happens with Moran and Rio Ruiz.
