Giants recalled INF Nick Noonan from Triple-A Fresno.
Noonan will act as infield depth for the Giants while Pablo Sandoval recovers from his foot strain. Noonan, 24, hit .203/.254/.220 in 37 games earlier this season with San Francisco and carries no fantasy value. Jun 11 - 3:59 PM

Date:

Nick Noonan is traveling to Pittsburgh to join the Giants for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Pablo Sandoval (foot) is expected to be placed on the disabled list, so Noonan will presumably replace him on the active roster. The 24-year-old is hitting .203/.254/.220 in 37 games with the Giants this season and can be ignored in most fantasy leagues.

Giants optioned INF Nick Noonan to Triple-A Fresno.

Noonan was a surprise addition to the Giants' Opening Day roster this spring and stuck around for a little over two months despite batting .203/.254/.220 in 37 games. The 24-year-old is better off playing every day.
Jun 8 - 5:45 PM

Nick Noonan went 3-for-5 with three singles and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Cubs.

Noonan, who started at second base in order to give Marco Scutaro a day off, is 5-for-11 (.455) to begin his major league career. The 23-year-old should do fine as a utility infielder, but he's unlikely to be fantasy relevant unless there's an injury.

Giants recalled INF Nick Noonan from Triple-A Fresno.

A former first-round pick, Noonan will open the season in a utility role with the Giants. He batted .296/.347/.416 with nine home runs at the Triple-A level last season.
Mar 30 - 9:12 AM

Giants purchased the contract of INF Nick Noonan from Triple-A Fresno.

He's now on the 40-man roster. A former first-round pick, Noonan had a nice bounce-back year in 2012, batting .296/.347/.416 with nine homers at Triple-A.

The Giants invited infield prospect Nick Noonan to spring camp.

Noonan hit decently and showed good speed early in his minor league career, but he has not improved with each promotion, actually finishing with his worst statistical season last year. The young second baseman still shows promise and certainly might benefit from the extra attention and instruction that comes with spring training. But he's not going to win a big league roster spot.

Low Single-A Savannah's Nick Noonan had three hits in a second straight game on Tuesday.

Noonan is hitting .394/.434/.592 in 71 at-bats during June, putting him at .305/.336/.458 for the year. That he's walked a total of 10 times in 275 at-bats is pretty ridiculous, but he's a quality contact hitter with a strong enough stroke to eventually make it as a nice regular at second base.

Low Single-A Savannah's Nick Noonan went 3-for-5 and hit his second homer on MOnday.

Noonan, a 2007 supplemental first-round pick, is hitting .283/.310/.429 in the Sally League. It's a pretty nice line for a player who just turned 19, but the 32/6 K/BB ratio in 191 at-bats is a problem.

Nick Noonan tripled, doubled and drove in five runs Saturday for low Single-A Savannah.

Let's hope Brian Sabean skims over this one and Noonan isn't the next Giants prospect to board the Giants' sinking ship. The 2007 supplemental first-round pic is hitting .338 with seven doubles and two triples in the Sally League, but that comes with a 15/0 K/BB ratio in 68 at-bats.

Nick Noonan went 3-for-3 with a triple and a walk Wednesday for the Rookie AZL Giants.

Noonan, the 32nd overall selection in the 2007 draft, is batting .347/.389/.535 with six steals in 101 at-bats. The belief is that he'll eventually make the move from shortstop to second base, and it might happen relatively soon, since the Giants have a couple of shortstops ahead of him in the system. He has some power potential and the on-base skills to be a top-of-the-order hitter.
