White Sox released RHP Henry Rodriguez.
Rodriguez held a 21.60 ERA while walking eight over just 1 2/3 innings with Triple-A Charlotte after signing a minor league deal last month. He'll get another chance somewhere with his high-90s velocity, but Rodriguez is a long shot at this point to make it back to the majors this season. Jul 13 - 12:42 PM

White Sox signed RHP Henry Rodriguez to a minor league contract.

The 27-year-old right-hander was released by the Marlins earlier in the week. While he has terrific stuff, he has been unable to harness his command, as evidenced by his 41/38 K/BB ratio over 25 1/3 innings at Triple-A New Orleans this season. He'll serve as organizational bullpen depth for the White Sox.
Jun 13 - 7:27 PM

Marlins released RHP Henry Rodriguez.

Rodriguez allowed two earned runs on two hits and five walks in 1 2/3 innings (two appearances) with the Fish earlier this season. And the 27-year-old right-hander wasn't faring much better at the Triple-A level.
Jun 11 - 8:44 PM

Marlins sent RHP Henry Rodriguez outright to Triple-A New Orleans.

Rodriguez time with the Marlins lasted only a couple of days, surrendering a pair of runs and walking five while recording only four outs. He'll continue to serve as additional bullpen depth.
May 17 - 1:44 PM

Marlins designated RHP Henry Rodriguez for assignment.

Rodriguez lasted only a few days, allowing two runs while walking five over his 1 2/3 innings of work. The 27-year-old is likely to clear waivers and could wind up back at Triple-A New Orleans.
May 14 - 8:43 AM

Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Henry Rodriguez from Triple-A New Orleans.

He's replacing Carlos Marmol, who was designated for assignment. Rodriguez posted a 3.26 ERA and struck out 37 over 19 1/3 innings at New Orleans, but he also walked 23. He won't be used in high-leverage situations.
May 11 - 12:52 PM

Henry Rodriguez has accepted an assignment to Triple-A New Orleans.

Rodriguez failed to earn a spot in Miami's bullpen this spring after allowing six runs over nine innings of work. However, it wouldn't be surprising if the hard-throwing right-hander eventually found his way to the big club.
Mar 31 - 4:30 PM

Marlins reassigned RHP Henry Rodriguez, INF Austin Nola, OF Matt Angle, INF Juan Diaz, and RHP Chris Hatcher to minor league camp.

The Marlins made this round of cuts on Thursday morning in camp. Rodriguez had been hoping to earn a spot in the Opening Day bullpen, but the hard-throwing right-hander yielding six earned runs in nine innings this spring for a Grapefruit League ERA of 6.00.
Mar 27 - 10:26 AM

Henry Rodriguez struck out three in two hitless innings of relief against the Mets on Monday.

After a dismal 2013 with the Nationals and Cubs, the hard-throwing Rodriguez is making a run at a spot in the Marlins pen this spring. He's struck out six and walked one while allowing one run in four innings so far. Since he is on a minor league deal, the most likely scenario has him headed to Triple-A for a bit. However, he could be the first reliever called up by the team.
Mar 17 - 5:22 PM

Henry Rodriguez is expected to report to Marlins' camp on Sunday.

Rodriguez has been dealing with visa issues but apparently they've been resolved. He'll have time to catch up and compete for a spot in the bullpen.
Feb 28 - 10:58 AM

Henry Rodriguez has yet to report to Marlins' camp due to visa issues.

Fellow non-roster reliever Jesus Sanchez is already dealing with visa problems. Rodriguez is coming off a disappointing season that saw him designated for assignment twice, but he'll have a good shot to crack the Opening Day bullpen if he can get his visa issue sorted out soon.
Feb 16 - 3:34 PM

Marlins signed RHP Henry Rodriguez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Rodriguez walked 20 batters in 22 innings last season at the major league level. The 26-year-old will try to iron out his control issues this spring with the goal of winning a spot in the Marlins' Opening Day bullpen.
Jan 16 - 1:32 PM

Cubs sent RHP Henry Rodriguez outright to Triple-A Iowa.

Rodriguez was designated for assignment Sunday but has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. The hard-thrower has a 4.09 ERA and ugly 12/20 K/BB ratio over 22 appearances in the majors this season.

Cubs designated RHP Henry Rodriguez for assignment.

Rodriguez, 26, has a 4.50 ERA in five appearances with the Cubs this season. He seems likely to go through waivers unclaimed and remain in the organization.
Sun, Jul 14, 2013 04:50:00 PM

Cubs acquired RHP Henry Rodriguez from the Nationals in exchange for RHP Ian Dickson.

Rodriguez had been designated for assignment last week. Despite a 5.13 ERA and 1.50 WHIP since the beginning of last season, it's no surprise that it didn't take him long to find another job in the majors, as there's always someone willing to take a chance on a guy that can throw 100 mph. Rodriguez figures to work the middle innings initially, but in the Cubs' unstable bullpen, he could find his way to the later frames if he pitches well.
