Henry Rodriguez is dealing with some soreness in his pitching elbow.

Rodriguez has been brought along slowly this spring after offseason surgery to have a bone chip and a bone spur removed from his elbow. Despite the minor setback, the Nationals aren't concerned. He'll be held out of action through at least Monday, but at the moment he's expected to be ready for the season.

Henry Rodriguez turned in a flawless inning against the Cardinals in his spring debut Friday.

Rodriguez is coming off elbow surgery and hasn't progressed as quickly as hoped this spring, though today's performance looks like a big step forward. He's out of options, so he'll have a bullpen spot if healthy.

Feb 25 - 5:41 PM

Henry Rodriguez (right biceps) is expected to throw off a mound on either Sunday or Monday.

Rodriguez has been limited in Nationals camp for the past couple of weeks because of mild soreness in the middle of his right arm. He has ample time to get himself prepared for the opening of the 2013 regular season.
Feb 21 - 5:06 PM

Henry Rodriguez (bicep) long-tossed Monday with no issues and is expected to throw a bullpen session in the next couple of days.

Rodriguez has been dealing with some soreness in his right biceps/elbow area, which was notable since he had surgery last August to remove a bone spur. It sounds like the right-hander is close to getting back on track, though.
Feb 18 - 7:11 PM

Henry Rodriguez told reporters Thursday that he thinks his recent right elbow tightness is "normal."

Rodriguez underwent minor surgery in August 2012 to remove a bone spur from his right elbow and began feeling renewed discomfort this week when he started workouts at the Nationals' spring training complex in Viera, Florida. The Nats will give the righty reliever a full week of rest and hope that he can get back on track.
Feb 14 - 9:39 AM

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Wednesday that Henry Rodriguez is dealing with a tender elbow.

Not a good sign after Rodriguez had season-ending surgery last August to remove a bone spur from his right elbow. It was assumed that he would have a chance to win a spot in the bullpen this spring, but that could obviously change if the elbow continues to be an issue. The 25-year-old right-hander posted a 5.83 ERA and 31/22 K/BB ratio over 29 2/3 innings last season and was 9-for-12 in save chances.
Feb 13 - 1:50 PM

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Friday that he anticipates Henry Rodriguez (elbow) having a role in the bullpen in 2013.

That's assuming that he's healthy following elbow surgery and has a good spring training. Rodriguez had a brief stint as the Nats' closer this past season before control problems caused him to be removed from the role. Johnson sees the hard-throwing right-hander pitching anywhere between the sixth and eighth innings in 2013.
