Orioles released OF Michael Bourn.
Bourn fractured his right ring finger before Grapefruit League contests got underway and won't be game-ready until sometime in April, at least. He requested his release and is now free to sign elsewhere on what's sure to be a minor league contract. Bourn is nothing more than a bit player at this point in his career. Mar 27 - 6:08 PM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter noted Thursday that Michael Bourn (finger) might not be ready until mid-April.

Bourn is rehabbing a broken ring finger on his right hand and probably won't take any at-bats in the Grapefruit League. The veteran outfielder signed a non-guaranteed minor league contract with Baltimore in late February.

Michael Bourn is expected to miss the next four weeks due to a broken ring finger on his right hand.

Bourn just re-signed with the O's this week and was expected to compete for a reserve outfielder role. He should still have enough time to get ready for the regular season, but this could impact his chances to crack the Opening Day roster.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Michael Bourn could make up to $3.5 million in incentives based on plate appearances.

The Orioles re-signed Bourn to a minor-league contract on Monday. Should he crack the major league roster, he will make $2 million. There is a March 25 opt-out clause on that minors contract. Bourn, 34, played in 24 games with the O's in 2016, slashing .283/.358/.435 with a pair of homers, eight RBI and two steals. He is currently in spring camp competing to land on the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.

Orioles re-signed OF Michael Bourn to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that Bourn will receive $2 million if in the majors, and ESPN's Jerry Crasnick adds that the deal includes a March 25 opt-out. The 34-year-old hasn't had an effective full season in a while, but he played well in his brief time with the Orioles last year with a .283/.358/.435 with two home runs, eight RBI and two steals in 24 games. Bourn will compete for a reserve outfielder role.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Orioles remain interested in Michael Bourn.

In other words, nothing has changed from a month ago. Bourn, 34, made a favorable impression with the Orioles down the stretch last season by batting .283/.358/.435 with two home runs, eight RBI and two steals in 24 games. The club just acquired Seth Smith in recent days and continue to be linked to Mark Trumbo, so Bourn would likely be more of a fourth outfielder and backup center fielder.

Roch Kubatko of reports that Michael Bourn is "still in play" for the Orioles.

He's not their main target, but the Orioles would like to add two outfielders and Bourn could be the second one. Bourn batted .283/.358/.435 with two home runs in 24 games with the Orioles last season. He'll turn 34 later this month.

Michael Bourn is starting in right field and batting eighth in Tuesday night's American League Wild Card Game against the Blue Jays.

The full O's lineup for this loser-goes-home tilt: Adam Jones CF, Hyun Soo Kim LF, Manny Machado 3B, Mark Trumbo DH, Matt Wieters C, Chris Davis 1B, Jonathan Schoop 2B, Michael Bourn RF, JJ Hardy SS. Baltimore is throwing Chris Tillman versus Toronto right-hander Marcus Stroman.

Michael Bourn went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's win over the Tigers.

The Orioles picked up Bourn via a trade with the Diamondbacks at the end of August. Since joining the club, he has now homered twice in a mere 12 at-bats. He had managed just three home runs over 329 at-bats prior to being shipped over to the East Coast. Despite this mini-surge with the O's, there is no fantasy intrigue here.

Orioles acquired OF Michael Bourn from the Diamondbacks for OF Jason Heinrich.

Bourn's bat isn't particularly live these days: The 33-year-old outfielder owns a .261/.307/.362 triple-slash to pair with three homers, 30 RBI, and 13 steals across 329 at-bats in 2016. Along with Drew Stubbs -- whom the O's picked up following his release from the Rangers -- Bourn will add to the outfield depth in Baltimore, though his fantasy value is next to nonexistent at this juncture, even in deeper AL-only formats.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Orioles are attempting to trade for Michael Bourn.

The Orioles padded their outfield depth by claiming Drew Stubbs (released by the Rangers) on Wednesday, but Rosenthal is reporting they are still considering other options on that front, including Bourn. The veteran is slashing .261/.307/.362 with three homers, 30 RBI and 13 steals over 329 at-bats this season.

Michael Bourn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two total RBI in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.

Bourn cranked a solo homer in the fourth inning to put the D-Backs on the scoreboard. They trailed 9-1 after that dinger. He would later come through with an RBI single in the eighth. They trailed 16-2 after that RBI knock. It was that kind of an afternoon for Arizona. Bourn is slashing .256/.306/.359 with three homers and 28 RBI for the season as a whole. He holds little fantasy intrigue outside of deeper NL-only formats.

Michael Bourn went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored Saturday against the Red Sox.

The steal was the 11th for Bourn in 14 tries, and he's now got multi-hit games in three of his last four starts. There's reason to wonder why the 33-year-old is a fixture in the D'backs lineup -- they're 20 games below .500 and he's hitting .252/.303/.346 overall -- but Bourn has settled into the second spot in the order and is an NL-only factor as such.

Michael Bourn went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and three RBI in Saturday's loss to the Rockies.

Bourn muscled up for his second home run of the season in the seventh inning. He's cooled after his torrid May, as the 33-year-old is now batting .250/.309/.357 with 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 35 games overall.

Michael Bourn is not in Monday's lineup versus the Dodgers.

David Peralta will make the start in center field and will be flanked by Peter O'Brien in left field and Yasmany Tomas in right. It's hardly the strongest defensive unit behind Zack Greinke.
