Date:

Michael Bourn is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Cardinals.

David Murphy is swinging the bat well right now, so Indians manager Terry Francona doesn't want to mess with what is working. Michael Brantley will start in center field Tuesday while Nick Swisher will serve as the DH. Lance Lynn is pitching for St. Louis.
May 12 - 3:32 PM

Indians manager Terry Francona told Michael Bourn that he will be benched against left-handers.

Bourn sat out a second straight game Wednesday with the Royals throwing lefty Danny Duffy, and this is apparently going to be a common thing all season. The 32-year-old outfielder is a .248/.303/.329 career hitter against southpaws and he's been terrible against any and all pitchers so far in 2015. Bourn is also just 2-for-4 in stolen base attempts this season after going 10-for-16 in 2014.
May 7 - 9:39 AM

Michael Bourn (neck) is back in the Indians' lineup Sunday.

Bourn had to be scratched Saturday due to a strained neck, but he appears to be fine now. The veteran outfielder sports a disappointing .202/.264/.250 batting line this season.
May 3 - 10:43 AM

Michael Bourn was scratched from the Indians starting lineup on Saturday due to a strained neck.

Tyler Holt will replace him in the Tribe's lineup and bat ninth against opposing right-hander Aaron Sanchez. Bourn should be considered day-to-day for the time being.
May 2 - 3:30 PM

Michael Bourn is batting ninth in Sunday's game versus the Tigers.

It's the first time not only this season but since June of 2011 that he's batted anywhere other than leadoff. Still, Bourn is hitting an ugly .180/.254/.213 in the early going, so the move doesn't come as a shocker. Jason Kipnis is in the leadoff spot Sunday, while Mike Aviles is getting a start at shortstop over Jose Ramirez.
Apr 26 - 9:52 AM

Michael Bourn is not in the Indians' lineup Monday.

He's being given the day off versus left-hander John Danks. Mike Aviles has taken Bourn's spot in center field, while Jason Kipnis has moved into the leadoff spot. Roberto Perez is also sitting out, with Brett Hayes getting a start at catcher.
Apr 20 - 4:50 PM

Michael Bourn went 1-for-3 with a double on Wednesday against the Angels, providing the Indians their only extra-base hit on the afternoon.

Bourn continues to hit well, now carrying a .378 average (14-for-37). However, only two of his hits have gone for extra-bases and he's also yet to steal a base. Bourn will have minimal value if he is simply a singles hitter who doesn't steal bases.
Mar 25 - 7:10 PM

Michael Bourn went 2-for-3, serving as the lone bright spot for the Indians as they were shut out by the Reds in Tuesday's Cactus League contest.

The speedy outfielder is fresh off an incredibly disappointing 2014 season, but is showing signs of life early in spring camp. He's hitting .500 (11-for-22) with a homer and two RBI, though it's concerning that he has yet to steal a base. If Bourn isn't able to swipe at least 20 bags, his chances of delivering value in fantasy leagues is minimal.
Mar 17 - 11:05 PM

Michael Bourn went 2-for-3 on Thursday against the Royals, raising his Cactus League average to .538.

Bourn is on fire, now with seven hits in 13 spring at-bats. The 32-year-old center fielder has put up middling offensive numbers over the last few seasons and his speed has waned as well, having stolen only 33 bases in 51 attempts over the last two seasons. The Indians are hoping Bourn can rediscover his ability to swipe bases in the third year of their four-year pact with him.
Mar 12 - 7:40 PM

Michael Bourn went 3-for-3 with an RBI single in Tuesday's Cactus League win over the Cubs.

Bourn also drew a walk, reaching base in all four plate appearances. The veteran outfielder attempted a stolen base but was caught. It's the stolen base portion of his game that Bourn intends to revitalize in 2015, and his fantasy value weighs heavily on him accomplishing that goal.
Mar 10 - 7:47 PM

Indians manager Terry Francona said Monday that he wants Michael Bourn to run more in 2015.

"We've talked to Bournie a lot," said Francona. "He's one of the most conscientious and nicest kids you'll ever meet. But quite frankly, whether it's because of injuries or not, he hasn't been the kind of guy who wreaks the havoc that we kind of envisioned when we signed him when it comes to stolen bases." Bourn averaged 51 stolen bases in his first five full seasons but has just 33 total over the last two seasons and has been caught 18 times. He tore his hamstring at the end of 2013 and had leg issues for much of 2014, which no doubt affected him on the bases. Bourn is healthy now, though, and has been training with former Olympian sprinter Leroy Burrell this offseason. He's now 32, but Bourn could rebound a bit in the stolen base department in 2015.
Jan 26 - 9:11 PM

Michael Bourn went 3-for-5 with three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Twins.

The leadoff hitter played catalyst for the Indians offense, scoring in each of the team's three run-scoring innings. Bourn had a double among his three hits, his first three-hit game since August 28. Bourn is hitting .261/.317/.367 overall this year.

Michael Bourn went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

Bourn's three-bagger led things off in the bottom of the first inning, and he later tacked on a single in his last at-bat. The speedy outfielder now has an American League-leading 11 triples on the season and has six multi-hit efforts in his last 13 tries.

Michael Bourn tripled twice, finishing 3-for-5 overall, as the Indians eked out a win against the White Sox on Thursday.

Bourn now has nine triples, the most by an Indian since Grady Sizemore hit 11 of them in 2006. The speedy outfielder tripled and scored in the first inning, then tripled and was stranded in the top of the ninth. Bourn is hitting .310 (13-for-42) in 11 games since returning from the disabled list. On the season, he is slashing .272/.329/.388 with three home runs, 25 RBI, and eight stolen bases.
