The Cubs will activate RHP Neil Ramirez from the disabled list on Sunday.

The Cubs will either place Tsuyoshi Wada on the disabled list or send Donn Roach to Triple-A in the corresponding roster move. Ramirez has missed the last two months with right shoulder inflammation. The right-hander didn't allow a run in three rehab appearances.
Jun 27 - 11:13 PM

Neil Ramirez (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Tennessee on Wednesday.

Ramirez had a setback with his shoulder three weeks ago but has apparently progressed since then. He could provide a big boost to the Cubs' bullpen if the ailment is behind him.
Jun 15 - 4:48 PM

Neil Ramirez is still feeling soreness in his ailing right shoulder.

The update on Ramirez was actually revealed by Justin Grimm, who had been rehabbing with him. "His shoulder is still barking," Grimm said. "They're just going to more slow play it and wait for it to go away. Hopefully we'll get him back soon and take off." Ramirez has been out since mid-April with shoulder inflammation.
May 27 - 9:17 AM

Neil Ramirez (shoulder) won't be activated from the disabled list for at least another two weeks.

Ramirez on Monday threw his first full-effort bullpen session since landing on the disabled list nearly a month ago with right shoulder inflammation. The reliever will be brought along slowly in hopes that he doesn't suffer a setback along the way.
May 11 - 7:39 PM

Neil Ramirez (shoulder) is expected to throw off the mound on Wednesday.

Ramirez is currently on the mend from right shoulder inflammation. There's no structural damage in the shoulder. The right-hander has been throwing on flat ground and looks ready to move forward in his rehab. While there's no timetable for his return, once he throws off the mound the team should have a better gauge for how long his recovery might take.
May 5 - 6:34 PM

Neil Ramirez (shoulder) is close to resuming throwing off a mound.

Ramirez has been throwing on flat ground for a little while now and is almost ready to take the next step. There's no timetable for his return, but he would seem to have a shot to be back sometime this month if he keeps progressing.
May 4 - 7:25 PM

Neil Ramirez (shoulder) has been playing catch in Arizona but has yet to throw off a mound.

The Cubs are taking it slow with their right-hander, who hit the shelf on April 17 with right shoulder inflammation. Ramirez doesn't have any structural damage so he should be back at some point. When that will be remains unclear.
Apr 29 - 6:15 PM

Cubs placed RHP Neil Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 16, with right shoulder inflammation.

The good news is that an MRI didn't reveal any structural damage. It's not clear at this point how long Ramirez will be sidelined. Chris Denorfia (hamstring) has been activated from the DL to take his spot on the roster.
Apr 17 - 10:57 AM

Neil Ramirez will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder.

Ramirez felt discomfort in the shoulder Wednesday while warming up to enter the Cubs' game against the Reds. He faced a batter anyway but had to leave after three pitches. "It's nothing real positive I don't think," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said of his setup man. "I don't like to go to negative town too quickly but we'll see."

Apr 16 - 9:25 AM

Neil Ramirez left Wednesday's game against the Reds with right shoulder discomfort.

There's a fairly wide range of diagnoses for such an affliction, so we'll have to wait until Thursday to learn more about the setup man's outlook. Ramirez has been very active early this season for the Cubs, making five appearances in the club's eight games.
Apr 15 - 11:02 PM

Neil Ramirez left Wednesday's game against the Reds with an undisclosed injury.

Ramirez came on to pitch the ninth inning with a five-run lead, but after three straight balls to Joey Votto he was visited by Cubs trainer PJ Mainville on the mound. Ramirez left with the trainer. Brian Schlitter replaced him in the game. The Cubs should shed some light on his situation shortly.
Apr 15 - 10:34 PM

Cubs president Theo Epstein said Tuesday that Neil Ramirez will remain in the bullpen.

Justin Grimm will also continue to pitch as a reliever. Many have speculated that Ramirez could be an effective starter in the majors, but the 25-year-old had a 1.44 ERA and 53/17 K/BB ratio over 43 2/3 relief innings this season and the Cubs would prefer to keep him as a late-inning arm.

Cubs activated RHP Neil Ramirez from the 15-day disabled list.

Ramirez missed a couple weeks of action with a sore right triceps muscle. He'll return to a setup role for the Cubs, where he's posted a 0.96 ERA and 36/10 K/BB ratio in 28 innings.

Neil Ramirez (triceps) expects to be activated from the disabled list when his 15 days are up.

Ramirez is out with a sore right triceps muscle that he said "started creeping in the last couple outings." He's feeling much better, though, after getting on a program with Cubs athletic trainer PJ Mainville and strength coach Tim Buss. "I've been feeling better this year than I have in the past couple years, so everything I've been doing is starting to help out," Ramirez said. "I want to finish the year strong and build up strength." Ramirez had been optioned to Triple-A before it was rescinded and he was placed on the DL. However, it's possible he'll return with the big club since he got two weeks of rest, which was the team's primary goal in sending him down.
