Cubs president Theo Epstein said Tuesday that Neil Ramirez will remain in the bullpen.
Justin Grimm will also continue to pitch as a reliever. Many have speculated that Ramirez could be an effective starter in the majors, but the 25-year-old had a 1.44 ERA and 53/17 K/BB ratio over 43 2/3 relief innings this season and the Cubs would prefer to keep him as a late-inning arm. Cubs activated RHP Neil Ramirez from the 15-day disabled list.

Ramirez missed a couple weeks of action with a sore right triceps muscle. He'll return to a setup role for the Cubs, where he's posted a 0.96 ERA and 36/10 K/BB ratio in 28 innings.

Neil Ramirez (triceps) expects to be activated from the disabled list when his 15 days are up.

Ramirez is out with a sore right triceps muscle that he said "started creeping in the last couple outings." He's feeling much better, though, after getting on a program with Cubs athletic trainer PJ Mainville and strength coach Tim Buss. "I've been feeling better this year than I have in the past couple years, so everything I've been doing is starting to help out," Ramirez said. "I want to finish the year strong and build up strength." Ramirez had been optioned to Triple-A before it was rescinded and he was placed on the DL. However, it's possible he'll return with the big club since he got two weeks of rest, which was the team's primary goal in sending him down.

Cubs placed RHP Neil Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right triceps muscle.

Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Iowa last week, but that has now been voided because of this triceps injury. The 25-year-old right-hander has registered a brilliant 0.96 ERA and 36/10 K/BB ratio in 28 innings of relief this season out of the Chicago bullpen.

Cubs optioned RHP Neil Ramirez to Triple-A Iowa.

In a bit of a head-scratching move, the Cubs demote their best reliever to Triple-A. They want to play things cautiously with the workload that the young right-hander shoulders this season, but the 25-year-old has been outstanding with a 0.96 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 36/10 K/BB ratio over his 28 innings of work.

Neil Ramirez worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the Phillies on Sunday.

Ramirez has now saved three games for the Cubs and appears to be manager Rick Renteria's first choice for closing games. On Sunday, he got Marlon Byrd to fly out, Carlos Ruiz to line out and Domonic Brown to pop out to end the game. He's got a 1.06 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 26/5 K/BB ratio through 17 innings, and needs to be universally owned.

Neil Ramirez had an adventure in the ninth inning on Friday, but escaped with the lead intact to earn his second save of the season.

It's unclear why Cubs manager Rick Renteria turned to Ramirez instead of Hector Rondon to preserve a two-run advantage, and if it will lead to further chances in the future. He was greeted by a double from Jimmy Rollins, who came around to score on a two-out single from Domonic Brown. Ramirez was able to bear down though, and record the final out with the tying run sitting 90 feet away.

Neil Ramirez picked up his first save of the season with a perfect ninth inning in Thursday's win over the Mets.

Hector Rondon was unavailable after pitching in back-to-back games upon his return from paternity leave. Ramirez had no issues, going 1-2-3 in the ninth with a strikeout. Rondon should be the go-to guy for a vast majority of the save chances going forward, but Ramirez is certainly putting himself on the map with a 0.68 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and a 21/4 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings thus far.

Cubs manager Rick Renteria confirmed Friday that Neil Ramirez will serve as the team's closer should a save opportunity arise while Hector Rondon is on paternity leave.

The 25-year-old hurler has been very impressive in his first 13 appearances for the Cubs, allowing just one run (0.77 ERA) while posting a 0.86 WHIP and 19/4 K/BB ratio over 11 2/3 innings. Those desperate for saves in daily formats could take the gamble that he sees an opportunity in the next day or two.

Cubs recalled RHP Neil Ramirez from Triple-A Iowa.

Ramirez was sporting a 7.71 ERA in seven innings this season at the Triple-A level, but the Cubs believe in his stuff and will use him in middle relief to help their overworked bullpen. The righty is making his MLB debut.

Cubs optioned RHP Neil Ramirez to Triple-A Iowa.

Ramirez was part of the Matt Garza trade last season, and he'll start the year in Triple-A. The 24-year-old may make his major league debut later this year.

Cubs claimed RHP Neil Ramirez off waivers from the Rangers.

He heads to Chicago to complete last month's Matt Garza deal, as the Cubs wanted to make sure the righty was healthy after dealing with a biceps strain. Ramirez is a nice secondary piece for the Cubs, as he boasts a 3.84 ERA and 127/42 K/BB ratio over 103 Double-A innings this season. He's been assigned to Double-A Tennessee.

Neil Ramirez has been placed on the disabled list at Double-A Frisco because of a biceps train.

Ramirez is one of the potential players to be named later in the Matt Garza trade, so his health status will be monitored closely by the Cubs. The 24-year-old right-hander has a cool 3.68 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 117/40 K/BB ratio in 95 1/3 innings this season at Double-A.

The Cubs could choose Neil Ramirez as the player to be named later in the Matt Garza trade.

The Cubs reportedly had an injury concern with Ramirez, which is why he wasn't included in the deal. They could still wind up getting him, though, or could choose two other pitchers instead. Ramirez boasts a 3.68 ERA and 117/40 K/BB ratio over 95 1/3 Double-A innings this season.

The Rangers will start either Neil Ramirez or Ross Wolf in place of the injured Yu Darvish on Thursday in Baltimore.

Ramirez is having a great season at Double-A Frisco, posting a 3.33 ERA and 113/38 K/BB ratio over 92 innings. Wolf was bypassed for Wednesday's start in favor of Josh Lindblom, as the Rangers preferred to keep him in his relief role. Neither pitcher would be much of a streaming option.
