Mets signed RHP Neil Ramirez to a major league contract.

He'll immediately join the active roster, as Asdrubal Cabrera (thumb) has been placed on the disabled list. Ramirez has been designated for assignment twice this season while posting an 8.71 ERA over nine appearances, but he has averaged 10.8 K/9 over 96 appearances in the majors. The Mets' bullpen is hurting in a big way right now, so they are willing to take a flier.
May 16 - 1:08 PM

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mets are signing right-hander Neil Ramirez to a major league deal.

Ramirez elected free agency over the weekend rather than accept an outright assignment from the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old has allowed 15 runs in 10 1/3 innings this season, but he has fanned 18 batters in that time. The Mets have a 5.26 ERA from their relievers and are looking for upside wherever they can find it.
May 16 - 11:19 AM

Neil Ramirez has elected free agency.

Ramirez cleared waivers after the Blue Jays designated him for assignment, but he had the right to elect free agency because it's the second time in the last few weeks that he was designated. He holds a 13.06 ERA over nine appearances this season, but an 18/4 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings will pique some interest.
May 14 - 3:48 PM

Blue Jays sent RHP Neil Ramirez outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Ramirez cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization. He didn't make an appearance for Toronto before losing his roster spot.
May 14 - 8:21 AM

Blue Jays designated RHP Neil Ramirez for assignment.

The move clears a spot for Mike Bolsinger, who will make a spot start Tuesday against the Indians. Ramirez was just claimed off waivers from the Giants last week, but he could soon be on the move again.
May 9 - 3:20 PM

Blue Jays claimed RHP Neil Ramirez off waivers from the Giants.

Ramirez was designated for assignment by San Francisco at the end of April after allowing 15 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings of relief. He had also racked up 18 strikeouts in those 10 1/3 frames, so maybe there's some upside here for Toronto.
May 4 - 1:51 PM

Giants designated RHP Neil Ramirez for assignment.

Ramirez had an 18/4 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 relief innings but was pummeled for six runs a week ago in Colorado and again on Saturday at home. Bryan Morris will take his spot in the bullpen.
Apr 30 - 2:50 PM

Giants purchased the contract of RHP Neil Ramirez from Triple-A Sacramento.

Ramirez was up and down this spring but earned a job, anyway. He'll be used in middle relief.
Apr 2 - 2:33 PM

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Neil Ramirez is expected to exercise his opt-out clause on Friday if he doesn't make the Giants' Opening Day roster.

Ramirez has seen mixed results this spring, compiling a 3.72 ERA over 10 relief outings. As is, he's probably on the outside looking in for a roster spot. The 27-year-old made 18 appearances for three different clubs last season. He's developing a reputation as a journeyman.
Mar 30 - 5:35 PM

Giants signed RHP Neil Ramirez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Ramirez appeared in 18 games this past season between the Cubs, Brewers, and Twins while posting a 6.00 ERA and 24/18 K/BB ratio over 24 innings. The 27-year-old has shown real potential at times, but shoulder issues have gotten in the way. The Giants are willing to take a chance on him, though.

Neil Ramirez has elected free agency.

Ramirez was removed from the Twins' 40-man roster in the middle of the season. The 27-year-old has been effective at times in the past but hasn't been the same since his shoulder issues cropped up.

Twins sent RHP Neil Ramirez outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Ramirez joined the Twins after they claimed him off waivers from the Brewers in mid-June. He saw 14 2/3 innings of work with the Twins prior to being optioned down the river. In that space, the 27-year-old right-hander was rocked for 10 runs on 15 hits.

Twins claimed RHP Neil Ramirez off waivers from the Brewers.

Ramirez has given up six runs on seven hits over 9 1/3 innings with the Brewers and Cubs this season, but he's shown promise in the past and is worth a flier. He'll work in middle relief.

Brewers designated RHP Neil Ramirez for assignment.

Ramirez's time with the Brewers turned out to be a brief one. The team claimed him off waivers from the Cubs on May 31. Just past a week later, they, too, have opted to designate him for assignment. Between the Cubs and the Brewers, the 27-year-old right-hander allowed six runs on seven hits over 9 1/3 innings. He held a 13/8 K/BB ratio in that space. Ramirez posted a 1.44 ERA in 43 2/3 innings in his Cubs debut in 2014.
