Athletics signed RHP Carlos Fisher to a minor league contract
Fisher had a 4.61 ERA in 52 appearances with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate this past season. While he's struggled with his command in the majors, he should compete for a bullpen spot with the Athletics in spring training. Sat, Feb 2, 2013 01:38:00 PM

Reds designated RHP Carlos Fisher for assignment.

He was cleared in order to make room for the newly-signed Ryan Ludwick on the Reds' 40-man roster. Fisher, who turns 28 later this month, had a 4.50 ERA and 17/11 K/BB ratio over 24 innings with the big club last season. He has struggled with his command in the big leagues (5.0 BB/9), but could draw some interest from another organization.

Reds optioned RHP Carlos Fisher to Triple-A Louisville.

Fisher threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings while with the big club, but that wasn't enough for him to keep a spot in the bullpen with Johnny Cueto coming off the DL. He'll probably be back at some point later this season.

Reds recalled RHP Carlos Fisher from Triple-A Louisville.

The Reds needed an additional relief arm after the bullpen was taxed during Friday's rain-delayed game. Fisher wasn't pitching well at Louisville, holding a 7.71 ERA over six games, but he offers experience, having appeared in 57 games for the Redlegs over the past two seasons.

Reds reassigned RHPs Carlos Fisher, Jerry Gil, Jordan Smith and LHP Daniel Ray Herrera to minor league camp.

Fisher allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs in just seven Cactus League innings this spring. He'll have to do far better at Triple-A Louisville before the Reds consider him for a big league bullpen job.

Reds recalled RHP Carlos Fisher from Triple-A Louisville.

The Reds opted for Fisher over Aroldis Chapman because the right-hander is able to absorb multiple innings. Fisher has been up and down with the Reds this season, posting a 6.89 ERA in 13 games. He has been terrific at Triple-A, with a 1.74 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 34/7 K/BB ratio over 31 innings.

Despite speculation to the contrary, it appears that the Reds are calling up Carlos Fisher, not Aroldis Champman, to replace the injured Russ Springer on the roster.

MLB.com's Mark Sheldon saw Fisher in the lobby of the hotel that the Reds are staying in, so that's a pretty good indication of the team's plans right there. Chapman will be brought up before the end of the month, but it appears he's being passed over this time.
